A few questions. 1) What type of moisture meter should I get for testing wood and where can I get one? 2) Until I get one, what is the best way to tell whether a deck is dry enough for new stain after I've stripped it? Do I just use the 36-48 hours dry/sunny weather standard? 3) Whatever happened to my youthful innocence? :(

Barry, Sounds like a great add on or complimentary business to PW. How many folks on this board do concrete sealing?

I'm going to assume that Mr. Doolittle isn't voting for Hilary as the next Prez. Just a hunch.

It sounds like if you find a tip that suits your needs then adjust the pressure switch adjustment screw to take care of any excessive cycling you may have (it can take several turns), then that might be a soulution to your issue. Then again, you could buy a smaller voulme sure flow and be done with it.

I posted a question awhile ago but no response (it was in with another question). A warning on my box of TSP says not to mix it with bleach but I see other people here are doing just that. Safety issue? I would like to try it as long as I don't get a nasty reaction. Mmmmm, that didn't sound quite right did it? :lgbugeyes

Thanks for the info folks. I've seen the TSP substitute, this isn't it. Have I said lately how much this site rocks!!

I don't doubt you guys use is succesfully. Box says..........."do not mix with bleach, vinegar or other acids" This is DAP brand Tri-Sodium Phosphate purchased at Lowes. I'm so confused!!!:taz:

Bill, Are you looking for something to tinker with (I can understand that, I'm the same way) or is there a specific application you have in mind? The on/off adjustment on mine is a small allen screw on the top. Why the accumulator? I suppose you could always use a rheostat, larger spray orafice, and adjust the pressure switch to be able to lower the pressure and flow if you want. Give you a bit more flexibility by mixing up components and settings of the system. Slowing down the pump cycles might give you an unwanted pulsing effect at the nozzle. But then again, maybe not. I haven't messed with mine in that way.

What type of improvements did you have in mind?

Ipe and Mahongany
Mountain View posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I've done some searching but haven't really found what I'm looking for. Can somebody stear me to a reference or post a simple 1-2-3 for cleaning and sealing hardwoods such as Ipe, Mahogany, etc. I know they are tight grained and don't absorb product like the soft woods. Gracias Note to self......Use spell check on thread title.:lgbonk: -

I remember the 225 slant 6. My dad was hooked on that engine. Bought four different cars with them. Good engine but tended to leak oil.

Picked up 100' of 3/8" poly braid hose at Northern Tool for $29. How does that compare to what others pay? To top it off, it's a lovely color green too! It's actually sold as air hose, I just cut off the connectors and used hose barbs on my sureflow and sprayer wand. It's the cheapest (sorry, lowest cost) I've found so far.

Great!! Now my daughters want a pet squirrel!! If they didn't dig up my plant pots to bury acorns, I wouldn't mind them. -
1962 Ford Fairlane 500. Royal Blue body, Pearl White top. Steering wheel the size of a hula-hoop. 221 V-8 (smallest I've ever seen). Older than I was but a beauty.

How many of you do or did work with deck and fence contractors to seal decks and/or fences after they build them? I know you do Shane. Any pluses or minuses?
