  1. Graffiti on wood

Ugghh!! I'll be seing some picks this afternoon, just found out about it last night.
  2. A little squirt of WD-40 into my ball valve and quick couplers stops that problem for me.
  3. This Is NOT FUNNY

What about those poor SOB's in Baton Rouge!
  4. You know you have daughter when....

My two daughters (18 and 20) are living at home while they go to the local college for their general ed classes. For the month of November they had, between the two of them, 15,000 (no, this is NOT a typo) text messages on their cell phones! Thank God for unlimited texting on our cell phone plan.
  5. Whats on your wish list

My wish list? I have everything I ever wanted. Sounds corny, but it's true. Everything from here on out is just gravy.
  6. Here is a picture of my latest project which was finished last week. I have loads of pictures but this is probably the best composed. Did I get one from this angle when everything was stripped and looked like brand new wood...of course not!!!! What a doofus!!! The customer is very happy so I guess that's what really matters. Not sure what old stuff was but the new stuff is Ready Seal Dark Red. There was the deck and roof, play set, and about 500 linear feet of fence. You can see the play set and part of the fence in the background. I don't know about the rest of you; but for me, getting good pictures of the stages of a project taken from the same angle with decent lighting is pretty tough. Overcast seems to give the best results. Bright sun makes the project look washed out in a picture when it doesn't in person. Oh well, learn a little more with each job.
  7. I'm such a doofus

LOL, nice one. A rain delay made the job drag out to three weeks from start to finish. The seasonal change in the trees is just a little added artistic flare!
  8. Fundamental difference between conservative and liberal.

  9. You are a deadbeat customer.

Daniel, I like your idea. I'd throw in some money to start it up.
  10. Sanding before or after acid?

I can't see how you would gain any better results doing things in that order, except reduce your profit and extend the time for doing the job.
  11. I'm such a doofus

Thanks folks. Rick, I'll see what I can dig up. The deck took an enourmous amount of stain, three coats and it could've taken more. It was, literally, soaking in immediately. Right after we did it, the deck (10 year old PTP) had an almost maroon color to it. I was a little concerned but was going to wait a week before I decided if anything needed to be done. A week later and the deck floor is the lightest of all, it's really dived in deep! Might even need some more stain, unbelievable. The whole job took about 40 gallons. Ken, I really don't know what the previous finish was. It was not difficult to remove but there was a wee bit more sanding than I liked on the roof lattice work.:lgbugeyes
  12. I'm such a doofus

Another couple of pics. Don't really do it justice but show the scale of the project.
  13. Removing spray paint?

You're probably gonna have to use a coarse sandpaper. Some 50 or 60 grit, a sander, and elbow grease.
  14. For those of you who use and airless sprayer to apply stain, what size tip to you like to use? I have a 413 and 415 tip but am wondering if a larger orafice will allow me to put down more stain with a little less "misting". I'm using Ready Seal and Bakers for stains.
  15. Airless Sprayer Tip

Rick, I agree with what you've said. Used the airless, turned way down, on my last job (post pics next week). I bought it to do some latex paint type of solid stains and thought I would try it on this job with Ready Seal. This job was about 500 linear feet of fence, a large playset, and a good size deck with a pergola style roof, used the airless on all of it. I liked using it but the misting was more than I'd like. I'll more than likely go back to the shurflo type of setup and use the airless for heavier stuff. I haven't used the truck brush yet but I'm sure I will. So far decks have been done with a sure flow and back padding.
  16. Eight years ago

Congrats! Lovely family. I'm coming up on 23rd anniversary with my European wife. Wouldn't have it any other way.
  17. Obama, Yes we can

Obama detractors are under estimating him.
  18. Theft

Man, I feel for ya. Post a pic if you can, any distinguishing traits, etc. I'll certainly keep an eye out for it in my area.
