Defurring questions
Bailey Property Service posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I notice people mentioning 3M pads for defurring. The ones I received from the Deck Guide were not 3m. Are the 3M pads better? These tore and wore down very quickly. Just ordered some Osbornes from Mcmaster-Carr hopefully the will last longer. I purchased 20 pads to do the 3000 Sq Ft deck Im working on and they didnt even make it to the end. Lee -

Should be finished with the cleaning tomorrow. Then defurring. Should be sealing Wednesday or Thursday. -
Percarb over rated?
Bailey Property Service replied to Bailey Property Service's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
It is not ACQ. Its on mahogany that had not been seales in 6 years or so. It came out fine but just seemed I had to use alot more pressure than usual. Was green layer very slippery. I boosted the EFC-38 with a little NaOH that worked a little better. I wonder if I should be cleaning with diluted Naoh insted of percarb. Lee -

Just washed a deck with EFC-38 full strength. No sealer present. Deck was green with a thin layer of algae I guess. Barely budged the stuff. Any suggestions? Lee -

Doing my first large job starting today. Just over 3100 sq ft. 3 level monster. Should be fun. Thankfully there is no sealer on it. Mahogany decking with cedar rail. Ill post some pictures later. Lee -

Water Stains

Stripped and brightened a deck and was unable to seal before it rained. Now there is a big water stain in the bare wood where the water collected. Probably have to clean it off? Thoughts. Lee -
Toning down the red

What AC or Ready Seal semi to tone down the natural red tones of Douglas Fir. I was thinking Rustic Brown in AC or Medium Brown in Ready Seal. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Lee -

Just checked that out. That's a serious piece of equipment. Must of cost a pretty penny. -

Now that I think about it I'm not sure the bottom layers were not urethane. Home owner said he remembered putting two coats of SRD on.
