  1. CAN I FIX THIS??

Aluminum can be tricky, we write all of ours up as paint preps or we will not do them. Most all aluminum is 30-40 years old. I guess they started producing it with left over materials from the war. The finish is all oxidized (that's what happens to the siding as it ages, happens a lot on vinyl as well, you have to look out for it) and I think the spots where maybe you used more pressure than other areas, taking the finish off(very easy to do) I think that's why you may have felt it looked better after doing panel by panel. I also find with aluminum that stains can leak out from behind the siding. It's yellowish and I only have a few guesses as to what it is. But it's nearly impossible to get off.
  2. Equipment for sale

Hi, I have a friend that is looking for a trailer set up. If it had a roof pump that would be great...Looking to spend $4000-$6000 .... Thanks
  3. Insurance and LLC

Yea what John said,,,,,I went last year. I had never run a pressure washer before or had anything to with running a business. We had a good year for 2012, and that would not of happened if it wasn't for the class and seminar....Matt and Jack also spent countless hours on the phone helping us through some jobs. That's were it's good to network and make some connections. I'm sure we will be calling Matt and Jack for years to come with questions and advice on power washing. Brian Condon Maine
  4. Hot water on vinyl

Hot water didn't make much of a difference for us on the gutters Brian Condon Maine
  5. presure washer????

12 gpm may have a hard time keeping up with wells Brian Condon Maine
  6. I have read a lot about different power washing systems. I have narrowed my search between Power-Tek and Hosty. Although I have not figured out my exact specifications, I like what I have read about both products. One thing that is a little troubling is I don't have a Power-Tek dealer in my area. Hosty on the other hand is an hour or so away. How much do you guys rely on your local dealers? Is maintenance fairly easy on these brands. Is there typical things that go wrong that are easy fixes? I'm not mechanically inclined but I have recently started changing my oil on my JD tractor..lol I look forward to hear your input Brian Condon Maine
  7. Thanks for the info....I'm going to follow up with the PowerTek leads for sure Brian Condon Maine
  8. My website is built...I still have a few minor changes I want to make. I'm all set with insurance, but Matt told me I could save about $600.00 with his guy when I go to the seminar in March. I have an appointment the first of the year with a Copy center that will help me design my flyers and set up a campaign for direct mail. I plan on going out and starting to sell the middle of February. I agree you need the customers first and I'm trying to prepare the best way I can. But with me being prepared I was curious how crucial it was to have a local dealer. Thanks for all the tips! Brian Condon Maine
  9. Hi, I'm very new to this to the business and wouldn't pretend otherwise. I live in Maine and would like to come and train how to clean comercial and residential properties. I have limited cleaning expierience ...when I say that I mean cleaning my home and some family members homes. I have spent most of my professional career in sales and think that could be helpful in this business but I'm eager to learn the proper skills to be successful. I'd like to start in Febuary and I'm willing to travel through out the U.S. to train with the right company. If anyone would be willing to spend a week or two giving me some direction, I would love to hear from you. I would like to do shingled roofs as well. Thanks, Brian No Named Business Maine
  10. What is the most effective way to get jobs?

Do you think Direct mail is better than News Paper inserts? It cost about $1000.00 for about 15000 inserts in local news paper where I'm at.
  11. Looking to learn...New

Started a website. The templates I have to choose from don't look as good as some of the websites I have checked out, but it's a start. I have three jobs I have lined up for the spring(I know it's pretty far out). But I have two vinyl fences and a roof. One of the horse fences is a mile long, and we have decided on a $100.00 an hour, know idea how long that will take. Both customers have agreed to do it once a year if they come out well, so I'm anxious to train with someone. I have been in sales most of my life, and would love to start cold calling businesses and Real Estate offices. I would be comfortable to go and start selling, but lack the confidence of not cleaning professionally before. I could do it, but not sure I would feel right about it. I think when it comes to training, although the classes sound great, I'm going to plan on training with someone the first week or so of February. I know that will not make me an expert, but hopefully send me in the right direction. I have to say this is a very helpful forum, and I'm quite glad I stumbled across this site.
  12. Looking to learn...New

I appreciate the info....but leads me to another question. I could attend the class as well as go work with someone. What would you professionals think would be more beneficial,,,go to a class,,,or go work along an expert in the field? I'm sure both would be great, but my time away from home and my cash flow would only allow me to do one. Thanks for your suggestion!!!!
