  1. I was curious as to how you guys are reclaiming your waste water while you are performing your jobs. I understand you can be fined by the city or the EPA for letting waste water go down the drain. What methods or machines do you guys use to reclaim your waste water? I was thinking about going into Power Washing offering services of Awning Cleaning, Concrete Cleaning and Fence/Deck and Staining Services.
  2. ****Don't have a section for tile and grout---so I put it uner the floor care topic. Hopefully one day they will have a section for us --- tile and grout cleaners **** I had a tile and grout job today (400 sq. ft) As I am steam cleaning the grout lines and revoing all of the bacteria and dirt. The customer and I were talking about used car salemen and companies. Come to find out he was a luxury car salemen. I had informed him that my mother was being cheated by used car company. He had informed me that we needed to file a report with Department of Transportation. He said they were like the IRS of the Auto Industry. When I finished the job he tipped me and I thanked him for the lesson of filing complaints against used car dealerships who try to cheat you. Then he said---I'll be sure to to refer you to my friend, becausehe wants his tile and grout clean as well. Wow--- a tip, a lesson and a referral That was a experience I hope to encounter more often.
  3. Bathroom Cleaning Specialist

Are you serious--You mean to tell me that bathroom cleaning is dominated too. It can't be--It would be great to start up a service of Steam Cleaning restrooms---Sanitizing and Odor Control too. Its got to be away to get into that market as well.
  4. Non-Slip Protection

No, No, no--I hope not. I promise to change the wording. See Anit-Slip! Anti-Slip! Anti-Slip!
  5. Non-Slip Protection

Good Point---Its just like with those fancy gates at apartment complexes. Some people thing those gates are for security--their not--its just for the look of the property. If any apartment personnel say they are for security reasons and you get robbed--you could sue and most likely win. Thanks for the advice.
  6. Non-Slip Protection

Thanks, I will surely share my experiences with this industry. I hope that I am able to market this really well. I had no idea that slips and falls caused so many deaths in the workplace. So, with the training of marketing this (Non-Slip Protection) I hope I can get some new clients or even help my existing clients by making their workplace safer.
  7. cedar deck zip code 19001

I was wondering you guys get leads in the floor care are, such as stripping and waxing. I'm also into grout cleaning now---grout staining and steam cleaning the grout. I'm in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and just wondering if you guys had any connections out here. :D
  8. I don't know a thing about pressure washing nor deck restoration-I'm in the janitorial and floor care business (stripping and waxing, etc....)-I just wanted to tell you. Hey its your first time and I think its great that you are even out there trying this new field of work. I know some people who talk--at least you are out there doing it. Keep trying--it will come. Practice makes perfect--just make sure you have business insurance while you are practicing--lol. Good luck to you.
  9. I have seen the pressure washer from home depot--the washer is the gas type with cold water---is this the right type of pressure washer to get started with or do you absolutely need hot water.
  10. Pressure washer from Home Depot

Thanks for your replys -- I was just wondering if these pressure washers would be good for concrete washing. I am adding a new floor service---concrete cleaning and sealing--possibly staining too. I am getting ready to bid on a warehouse job for concrete cleaning and sealing. I will be using a stripper and degreaser to remove all the dirt and oil. I will be using a 20 inch rotary machine to scrub the floor (I know you can use a pressure washer in this area as well) then I will vacuum up the excess water--then apply 2 to 3 coats of sealant--and burnish the concrete finish. Any comments or suggestions would be great.
  11. I did my first daycare by myself. It is about 6000 sq ft. I just did a scrub job and a coat of wax. The hardest part of course was moving the furniture around. My hands and feet are little sore, but I'll be fine. The floors really came out great. You almost want to eat off of them--lol. I'm hoping to get more business with my actions instead of words. The big boss saw them and said they look great--hopefully that will lead to other daycares. Of course I will need help. Question--How did you guys find your employees and where? Also, the pads I was using ****ed--green. Do any of you guys know where I can find some good quality pads? Well, take care and hope to hear from you guys. Peace
  12. Is awing cleaning an untapped market? if so why? Is it difficult? are store managers or owners unwilling to take care of there awnings? Is it too time consuming? Is the equipment too expensive? Is it difficult to market this service to retailers or homeowners? Please if you have any information pertaining to these questions--please share your thoughts.
  13. I went to this neat website called winspray.com. They have a system where you don't even need a squeege to dry windows. They use a DI tank for spot-free cleaning of windows. Is this true that the DI tank helps with spot-free cleaning of windows? If so, does anyone know where you can obtain one of these tanks and the cost of them? Are there any other methods to spot-free cleaning of windows?
  14. Banks

Are banks a good thing to target in the janitorial industry?
  15. Rinse methods -- spot free cleaning

I called the guy there--they have some very interesting spot free- rinsing systems. I may have to save up to buy one, because the prices are a little out of my range. It definitely caught my attention. Thanks for the information.
  16. Banks

He said that a bond is basically a waste of money and that most companies are really interested if you have insurance to cover damages. Anyway--couldn't you get some type of insurance that could cover damages and theft by your employees. Why would you want to bond somebody out of jail if they have stolen on the job and that you have a policy against theft in your company. Wouldn't it be the employee responsibility to deal with his own problems with they law. As the owner--its your responsibility to replace what was damaged and stolen, which should be covered by your insurance.
  17. Grout Cleaning

Can you use a pressure washer with a hard surface cleaner, such as the hydro or gekko unit? If so---should your unit be cold or hot? And how do you go about setting up the unit with the hard surface cleaner--to perform grout cleaning. Please help:(
  18. Grout Cleaning

Yes, I was referring to the rotary machine-175rpm, but I can see that a rinse would be a problem without causing a mess--especially in residential. I need like a high power portable, but they are so expensive. Looking for an alternative method to grout cleaning--least expensive. That is the third time I have heard about 3M--if you have their website--please send me the link. Thanks
  19. Grout Cleaning

Along with some good chemicals--can you use a rotary machine for grout cleaning? If so, what pad or scrub brush would you use? Thanks for your advice and suggestions.
  20. I currently work with VCT and other types of tile--buffing, stripping, waxing and scrubbing. I was thingking about getting into hardwood floors. Is this a good thing or should I run from this part of the industry. It seems like it could be profitable in households. If you have any input--please share this with me--thanks.
  21. Baseboards and edges

What methods do you guys use to treat baseboards and edges (of VCT) that contained built up waxed--etc...?
  22. Scrubbing VCT???

I am a new user---I'm glad I found this message board, finally one covering floor care. Well, a little background about myself--I use to use strip, wax and buff floors in the Navy for 9 yrs. My question is concerning scrubbing VCT. What type of floor pad would I use? I want to take up at least a layer of wax and add a new coat once I finish scrubbing. Which pad would give me the best srcubbing action?--blue, green or blue pad. This is for a daycare center. Please respond--Thanks
  23. Stripping Job

I have a strip job on a daycare facility coming up in April. The floor has not been stripped in 2 yrs. Some parts of the floor has built up wax. What type of stripper, wax and sealant would you use for this job? Your recommendations would be great.
  24. Scrubbing VCT???

Thanks for giving me that information. The blue pad--ok. I am trying to remove some of the heel marks and scuffs. After I finish scrubbing I was going to add a layer of wax then high speed buff the floor. Oh yeah, I added my name, which is Derek Morgan and the name of my company-- Pro-Team Cleaning Services. Thanks for letting me join the family. Derek
