Driveway cleaning Before and After
KGILL replied to newlook's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Did you use anything besides water? -
It is not the fact that my attempt to thank Doug was hijacked. It is the fact that this thread is like so many others in which it is hijacked and turned into a mud fest. Talk about lack of professionalism. I am upset because some of the same people who complain about black eyes for the industry caused by hacks are the same ones who are arguing like 15 year girls. This thread as well as others on various forums can be viewed by the public, and it lacks professionalism when there is name calling, personal attacks, etc... You have a problem with someone, address your issues person to person or ignore that person completely. If I were a potential customer and I saw this, I would not hire anybody that added to a conversation like this because I would not know who I could trust. Oh well Que sera, sera

Thanks to both sides for turning my attempt to thank another contractor who helped me when I needed it into a juvenile argument. Everyone should be ashamed of themselves.

That sucks. Thanks for the heads up.

So far I have not had any serious issues, only minor iritants. I have lost two screws holding the handle to my ball valves. The first time it happened I purchased a new ball valve so I would have one while I replaced the screw. I have not done so yet because now I cannot find the handle. The 2nd ball valve's screw fell out on a job the first time being used and I was unable to find it on the ground. I had to keep the handle in my back pocket till I was ready to open or close the valve. Heading out today to a local distributor to get the replacement parts.

I have avoided doing woodwork since I started this business early this year. I have had a couple people ask me recently about it so I figured I would give it a shot but obviously wanted to practice first. Here are some pictures of an area that I did. I still need to let it dry, sand, then stain. I used 240 degree water, 2500 psi, turbo nozzle with 12.5 SH.

KGILL replied to KGILL's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
About 3 to 3.5 hours away. I will probably order materials from him if I get into wood. Some time ago I posted asking for labor for learning and apparently he replied soon after but I never saw any alerts telling me someone replied. I am having the same trouble on ***. The only reason I know anything about him is he liked my facebook page and I looked at his website. There is a local pressure washing distributor here in Knoxville, but they do not have any wood cleaning chemicals. -

Only the local pool stores which sell 1 gallon bottles. I have not been able to find any larger containers, or somewhere I can have a chemical tank filled. -

Yes ma'am but it will be awhile. According to the weather people, it does not look like we have a rain free period anytime soon. -

I have been trying to find a local source for oxalic or citralic and I cannot find any. Do you buy local or go through a distributor not near you? -
Benjamin Moore Brighten
KGILL posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Anybody ever use any of the Benjamin Moore Brighten to brighten and neutralize wood? -
Vinyl siding issue, This is a good one...

FCPWLLC, do you mind putting what you tell him on here? I only use low pressure but I think it would benefit everybody. -

Sorry Seymour, I meant using 12.5 1:1 with water. Actually used 12.5 size 40 degree tip which with my machine shoots at about 800 psi, oxyclean, and Benjamin Moore's Brighten. On another thread I asked about Brighten and got what I was looking for. In the future I will go with a better brightener/neutralizer. I had actually thought about not following up with my original post for a bit but I was afraid I would get all sorts of hate mail calling me hack, idiot, or suggestions on how to pull my head out of a certain dark spot. Glad you guys got a laugh -
Benjamin Moore Brighten

Gotcha. I figured it was a 50/50 whether it was decent or not. I did use it for my fence and it worked but I will look into others from knowledgeable distributors in the future. The people at Benjamin Moore did not know much. -

For all you woodies out there....hopefully you did not have an aneurysm. I didn't actually use hot water, turbo nozzle, high pressure or 12.5. -
Thanks Adam. I use Gutter Grenade and the gutters come clean pretty easy. I was wondering about the price as I roll the exterior cleaning of the gutters into my house wash price. Just trying to make sure I am not letting money walk away by not charging more.

My wife and I are heading up Northern Virginia/DC for a wedding near the end of summer and I have been able to secure several house cleaning and roof jobs through family, friends, and friends of friends. Does anybody know of a reputable distributor in the area? I would love to find a place within Fairfax or Prince William Counties but will take anything. I will be taking my equipment up with me, but Mr. Murpy likes to show up uninvited and I would like to find a place I can get a replacement hose, ball valve, etc... if he does show up. Thanks

When you say you charge 300 dollars for up to a 2500 dollar house does that include the siding, and gutters? I have seen some contractors roll the gutters into the house cleaning, others have a seperate charge for it. I have not offered to clean the interior of gutters and downspouts yet.

300 dollars for just the gutters, or is that with the siding as well?

Poll: What type of pressure washing rig do you use?
KGILL replied to mdspowerwashing's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Thanks guys. The rigs look awesome. Adam, too busy making money to modify the trailer? What a horrible situation that must be. -

Thanks Chris. Yeah, I have seen the numerous discussions on enclosed vs open. I am leaning towards open as I can put it in our garage for security and I would winterize the pump as I am not too interested in working in the winter. I focus on residential and do not seek commercial stuff, but I have had 3 different occassions where commercial stuff has come up through associations and contacts (dog park, softball, coworkers of wife, etc...) and I have not had the ability to handle it because my equipment is cold water. -
I think with sweet potatos you really want them clean so I suggest around 2500-3000 or more psi and hot water. A typical roof wash should do the trick. For extra cleaning power, don't forget the turbo nozzle. Seriously though, my wife wants to plant all sorts of things in our yard but I am the one who has to take care of it. I want grass and nothing else, no flower beds to weed. Heck I do not even want grass, I wish I had an Arizona style yard, rocks. That being said we did plant some rasberry bushes earlier this year. We got into homebrewing beer and wine. We hope to make a rasperberry wine soon, although I think we now only have 2 plants that survived out of the 6 we planted.

ADCO, what chemical store are you using?
-
Found out from a pool supply store that I purchase my 12.5 SH that they will no longer be carrying it. They plan to only sell powder shock. I called around, and several of the local pool stores are doing the same. There is one in my immediate area that carries it but I would prefer not to give them any money because they have been a PITA with regards to getting parts for our pool. Any time I go in there my blood pressure ends up going through the roof. Any suggestions on distributors? I am also still looking for local distributors for chemicals like citralic and oxalic acid. The distributors I have called do not carry it.

Well.... dog poo. I have a lawyer buddy I am going to have go see now.
