  1. I do not know about the bubbling part, but I did have Gutter Grenade from Pressure Tek cause red stains on concrete and brick before. According to Bob at Pressure Tek, it is because sometimes it will bring out the iron that is in the concrete. Fortunately I was able to rinse it off and the stain disappeared. He also said the way to prevent it is to soak down the concrete prior to, and then rinse often. If you are unable to get the stains out with rinsing, I would try F9 Barc before you try anything mechanical like a grinding wheel. Good luck.

  2. FYI to all those this has not happened to, but I had the same thing happen to me using Gutter Grenade. It all came out with heavy rinsing. According to Bob at Pressure Tek, Gutter Grenade will occasionally bring out the iron that is in the concrete. Ways to prevent this are to soak the concrete prior to using Gutter Grenade, and rinse, rinse, rinse. I am assuming what does not come out could be treated with Front 9 Barc, but I do not know has I did not have to get to that point.

  3. What constitutes a violation of your first amendment rights when you have a thread censored or you are banned from a BBS?

Obviously, there are rules to follow. If you attack someone in a personal manner that most would agree there are consequences of your actions.

But what about getting a thread pulled just because someone doesn't like the subject matter and even though it is presented in a professional manner, they are questions that the admin or moderator don't want answered because the truth isn't something they want known?

What about getting banned from a BBS for asking questions to silence you. Is this a violation of your rights?

This is not an attack on anyone or particular group. Nor is it an indication of my feelings on some of arguments I have seen on the different forums.

You have no 1st amendment rights on a BBS, just like you have no 1st amendment rights at a workplace. The 1st amendment states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

If the Admins on a BBS whether it be ***, TGS, PTstate, etc.... censors a thread or bans a member there are no constitutional issues at play. Just like if someone bad mouths the company they work for and then get terminated. You can better believe that when I have employees working for me, and they badmouth myself, or company they will be looking for a new job. Not because I plan to run a dictatorship, but I do not want someone representing me who says negative things about me or my company to the public. Imagine if one of your employees said XYZ Pressure Washing is the worst, they do shoddy work and they rip customers off. Do you want them working for you while saying that? Or would have a now hiring sign posted somewhere?

It happens all the time. There are too many news stories about some dumb waitress who complained on Facebook, Twitter, etc... about customers. Or someone who works in an office complaining about their boss. The news covers it because it is sensational, and they portray the newly unemployed as a victim. I would rather the news just say "Some idiot got themselves fired, and XYZ company is looking for good help. Now here is Steve with the weekend weather."

  4. I have had a couple people ask me about stripping paint for paint prep. I politely decline as I am not interested in that kind of work (especially with concerns of lead paint.) I have a couple of different contractors I use to refer people to for other things (electrical, plumbing, etc...) but have not found a painter that I would not be concerned with competing for other pressure washing jobs.

  5. Careful offering him a discount if you expect him to send jobs your way. If he sends jobs your way, it may be because of the price you charged him. When you charge a customer a full price, they may be upset as they had expectations of a much cheaper price.

I am not sure I have ever seen a sealer that offers coverage of 500 sq feet per gallon. According to what I have seen, you may need a couple more gallons of sealer. I have not done concrete sealing, but I believe you can use a pump up sprayer then back brush. There is also the time that you have to cut in with a hand brush around the edges to take into consideration.

  6. Mordy, been thinking of selling my back up unit. Always garaged, less than 300 hours on all new parts. Coil, cat pump, unloader, hose reel , trailer is newer too. This is a compact trailer 4x8 with a hydro tec 5 gallon hot/cold 3200 psi125 gallon water tank. Perfect for all aspect of cleaning! This sale comes with one week of training from Sir Knowledge Wood. This alone is worth thousands. Start 2013 fresh ! 3500 green ones......

Motor is new too and is bigger than the original 18 horse .

What is the weight limit for the trailer?

  7. We are heading to Norfolk tomorrow so the wife can defend her dissertation to her committee on Friday. She had wanted to defend in October then graduate in December but her committee could not get their stuff together. Now she will defend Friday and submit her final copy next week leaving her all spring semester worry free. She is already planning graduation party, and a graduation cruise.

  8. I have a customer who is interested in getting some bird poop removed from her wood siding. Up to this point, I have not had to deal with bird poop. Have I been lucky, or is it generally not an issue?

Either way, I did a search on the forum and all I found was threads pertaining to awning cleanings. Would a standard house wash mix remove the bird poop? If not, what should I use? Is this something I should pass on, or is this a job that can be done.

I advised her that the poop may leave a stain through the paint, but she just wants it removed. Attached are a couple of pictures although my camera appears to be on its last legs and the pictures did not come out well.

  9. Sorry, I missed the word "brightener." I used benjamin moore's brightener and followed their directions as far as mixing. I did not stain it yet, I am going to have another go at it. I had planned on doing it again some time ago but things have been hectic here. Things are slowing down enough I am going to try and hit it Tuesday and let it dry out.

I knew I could get the stuff cheaper and better quality but at the time I was unsure about incorporating wood work into my company as well as I had not found a local distributor yet.

  10. Thanks everyone for voting, unfortunately she did not win. Que sera, sera. Either way, she is hoping to defend in late September or early October and graduate in December. She is under the impression that once she graduates I will have to call her Dr. Gilligan. Ha.
