I would also be happy to work with anyone that's interested in learning about pressure washing or add on services. Recently we've had several people from the surrounding areas come in for a day or so and I look forward to working with other people to give them some experiance and ideas on how to expand. I just trade out a day of labor for the knowledge and experiance we've gained over the last 15 years.

Hey Joe, I'm not on this list but your post made me decide to comment... The guys that asked for a copy of his estimating sheet are probably just comparing thier own to his. We all know how to write the basics of an estimate but there are many different ways to actually type one out. Some may include thier process on power washing, their chemicals that they use and much more. As for being embarresed about handing out the same estimating sheet as someone else, how do you know your not doing it now? The form I use is quite simple, it's also a contract. It gives the customer options on which service they would like, types of sealers, an area for estimating their home, decks, patios, driveways and walkways all on one 3 part ncr form. It even has a disclaimer for powerwashing Aluminum siding. As I said, it works well for me and it puts everything into simple words that clients can understand without any confusion.

I just got finished with the month long search for complete insurance coverage for my company. If that guy is good at pressure washing I know just how to solve your low baller problem. Send him here so I can sub out jobs to him or hire him.. I would love to have some quality labor at a decent price! Good technicians are getting hard to find around here. Out of the last 5 guys I've hired I have had to run them through my own training classes and work with them for a few weeks before they were able to do jobs to my standards.. I end up firing 80% of the guys I hire because they just can't seem to learn anything. Does three weeks of hands on training with me or someone else with years of experiance sound reasonable to you all? I'm talking basic experiance here, not in depth of stripping and all the chemicals that are out there, just this is how we do it and why.

Hey Bryan, Thats what I was saying, Ready seals tint is what stops the decks from turning.. If you use ready seal without any tint it can't protect the deck from UV rays. When it's tinted it works great I've got a test running on it now and it looks great after 2 years. I plan on re-cleaning another peice of wood and re-coating it to compare the two. Both pieces of wood and many others laying around for a couple years are subject to weathering, sun/shade and my dog dakota..lol I need to shoot over to beths and grab a sample of wood tux to try out this week.

I was told the same thing, ready seal uses its pigment to block out the UV rays... I'm suprised its only 3-6 months though. Even olympic water gaurd will last 9 months in most cases with VERY little fading if any. Water guard is the lower priced one too.

Hey Mike, I can understand that your busy but I would suggest you bump a job if you need to. In situations like this, you have to jump on it quick and be there busting your butt to fix a problem that could result in bad customer feedback and even worse, a lawsuit. If this is something you can fix the faster you fix it the better you will look. We all make mistakes on occasion but the thing the customer will remember the most is you were there to fix it immediatly. Some of the mistakes we have made in the past were actually the best PR we could ask for. Everyone loves and trusts a company that goes completly out of their way to fix a problem. Waiting on this is just going to make you look like you don't care. I think Tony is right about this, expecially if your using an x jet to shoot your soap. You may have shot from underneath a bit more than usual and it got behind the siding, slowly ran out and then dirt stuck to it over time. Another possibility that's going to sound completly crazy to most of you. <G> Bats I've seen very similiar markings like this from bat excrement. Occasionally they roost up in very small openings behind the rake board wrap and poop on the siding. When they do it will run down the siding and leave a similiar chalk like mark. If you figure it out or remove it finally let us know the results. Henry

Okay, It's time for my company insurance renewal and I'm shopping around. I have contacted Erie and Joe walters already. What companies do you all use that you would recommend I contact? I will shop them all out with the same insurance I have now and let you all know what I found to be the best deal. My company also provides other services besides just power washing so it may be a bit different but I'm still willing to share my results with you all. Erie's 5 star contractors policy does not cover everything I'm interested in. Today's society is just too sue happy for my coverage needs but I will shop that out also. Most people price them at $1 a linear foot of siding on each side of the house for one story $2 for two story's $3 for three and so on.

I talked to an agent I deal with in Maryland and she said she'd never heard of it before. It could have been the seller pushing for it becouse they are sensitive to mold. It happens. Henry

Thanks Paul, I thought it sounded familiar. I've seen it in home depot in my area. So it really does work well? I always figured it would be a home owner special solution. I'll check into it. Has anyone found anything really good for pre-treating decks. I'd like to find something I can carry on my rig and downstream it onto decks. I'd prefer something I don't have to nuetrilize though. Any suggestions?

Wow, I'm suprised that so many people are using wolman. I'm not kicking the product or anything but I personally don't like it that much. It seems to fade to orangish tones after a while. I heard cabot was good also and of course I love ready seal so I'm not suprised its in the top three.

Use a surface cleaner for any sized are you can. It will increase your speed by an amazing amount. As for using hot water on decks. I've tried it on mine but only at around 90. That helps get alot of the easy sealers off but I definetly would not recomend anything hotter than that. I'm probably pushing the edges of what most people do as it is but I only do it in special cases.
