I have a Landa Cyclone 20 inch surface cleaner that has turned out to be a POS. I have spoke with Russ Johnson @ South Side and he recommended a Whirl a Way 16 or 18 inch floater. I respect his opinion and would like to hear from those who have used the floater as opposed to a wheeled unit. I am running a hot water machine with 5 @ 3500 for power. By the way, I have spoke with Landa about the rotary union problem that I have been having and the only response was that they admit that it is a bad design. No offer to warranty or to upgrade to a different union. What a way to do business.

I have a 5.5 @ 3500 Hot Water Machine W/ a Landa Cyclone Surface Cleaner. When I use the wand the pressure gauge will read the 3500-3700 psi. When using the Surface Cleaner the pressure gauge will read 1500-1750 PSI. Do I have the wrong size nozzle for the surface cleaner or why is the pressure cut in half??? The nozzles are new and were rated for my machine.

I found the problem. There is a leak from both the top and bottom of the swivel. I contacted Landa and they said that it is common for a small leak but not what I observed. The Tech guy recommend replacing the union with an aftermarket unit and that Landa was currently re-designing the union on the Cyclone. I explained that the unit had less that 40hours on it and he stated that the dealer may warranty it. Since they confessed that there is a design issue i would rather replace with something that will last past 40 hrs. Any suggestions on brand and dealer?????

The tips have approximatley 20 hours on them and the size is 15/030. There is also an inline high pressure filter. Do you think i need to change to the 2.5? I find it hard to believe that a 1/2 size would result in a 50% reduction in total pressure.

Who has the best price on the X JET M5? For those who have the unit does it come with Detailed Instructions?

I have put the coating on my garage floor and it held up excellent for over a year. Then the coating lifted in two places where the tires had rested overnight. I have not had any other problems and the two spots have not feathered or grown any larger. Pretty good stuff other than that..

How is it that one acquires the moniker "newbie"? Do you base this off of the amount of time a person has been a contractor or do you base it off of how long someone has been a member of TGS? The reason for asking is some of the replies that I see from some of the "Bronze" and/or "Platinum" members seem to be on the short side for "newbies". Just curious.

Has anyone ever considered using compressed nitrogen to pressurize your chemical tanks? I would think that this would be more efficient in delivering chemicals than using a diaphram pump. Is anyone aware of a commercial system that is available? The cost of setting up a tank and regulator would be minimal. You can get regulators that would limit the psi to max of 100 psi. The only problem I see would be attempting to get a plastic tank to seal against the pressure. I guess you could use a beer keg as a pressure vessel. What do you think???

THE FLOJET that I am looking at will do up to 7 gpm @ 60 psi continuous duty. The best deal that I found on the pump is $120.00 delivered. Add a bottle or nitrogen and a regulator and you have a very cheap alternative to having an electrical pump that will require either a generator or putting an additional load on your skids charging system. I know some think that this is a lot of effort, but I think that I would rather have to exchange a cylinder of nitrogen every couple of months rather than maintaining an electrical device, such as the pump and battery. Just a thought. I will post pictures when I get the system built.

What type of Flojet did you use? I was not aware that Shurflow made an air diaphram pump. If they do I would like to have the model number so that I could compare the spec's.

I did some more research and FLOJET makes an air diaphram pump that will do up to 7 gpm @ 60 psi. By using this pump there would be no need to pressureize the tank. You could build this system for around $300.00. Or in the alternative you could go to www.foamit.com and pay about $1200.00 for the same thing.

I thought about that as well, but I don't think that an air compressor could keep up with the volume that you could get out of a nitrogen tank.

Hey John I am in OK. What type of skid are you getting and who are you getting it from? I have some contacts here for some decent pricing if you havent already committed.

Are there any practical uses for chlorine in flatwork? If so what are they and where do you obtain it? Do you use the same strength as what is put into a swimming pool?

Hello All, It’s me the “newbie” to The Grim Scene. After a 15 year absence in the pressure washing business I have returned to see that things have really changed. I am mainly doing flat work for banks, convenience stores and residential cleaning. I am running 5 gallons @ 3500 + heat as well as a Cyclone surface cleaner. The degreaser that I used in the past was white wall cleaner (orange powder to green liquid), it worked great. I have no issues with having to reclaim waste water. My equipment supplier gave me 5 gallons of a cleaner called “Cyclops” that you dilute 6-10 oz per gallon depending on the strength needed. The cleaner lists ingredients as Water; Sodium Tripoly Phosphate; Sodium Dodecylbenzene Suflonate; Ethoxlated Alcohol; Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether and Organic Phosphate Ester. I used this cleaner with a dilution of 10 oz per gallon as a pre-soak with a 15 minute dwell and then metered the same through the pump while washing. I was not impressed with the results. Has anyone had an experience with this cleaner? Can you recommend something that would work better? The cost to the 5 gallon was $55.00 Thanks in advance for any input and what a neat site. I have a 1969 Convertible Camaro. I spent 3 years doing a frame-off restoraiton. It was my best friends car in high school and I am only the 4th owner. If I figure out how to attach a pic I will post for all to enjoy.
