Just finished highschool, started pressure washing in 8th grade with my bother. My dad owns a commercial cleaning buisness, so I have access to his equipment. Recently just got a 10 foot enclosed trailer, gonna try to get as many jobs as I can this summer.
  1. Here is my rig! The dakota pulls the trailer good, but a bigger truck would pull it better.. Here's an inside shot of the trailer as well.
  2. I like my 2003 Dodge Dakota, 4x4 4.7l 5 speed. With lots of other goodies! It pulls the trailer fine, but my grandparents 97 dodge ram cummins pulls it a lot better ha.
  3. soft washing roof questions??!!??

The hardest part of roof cleaning is keeping the plants alive. I did a tile roof the other day and keep diluting my sh because it was cleaning the tiles so quick. Most bigger plants can withstand the sh, might brown the leaves up but it shouldn't kill the plant. However, I have killed a customers cheap flowers that you get for like a dollar at home depot. Kinda of hard to avoid them, throw a tarp and they smash them, water them with anything more than a mist they destroy them. Is the roof snot worth it? I want to see if the grass line I watered had died at one of the roofs I did. hmmm
  4. Info On PW business

By no means am I a professional, as this is just my side job/hobby, but I will reply due to the fact I have done a lot of research as well and have some experience under my belt. 4gpm is cheaper but I would spend the extra money now and get like Guy said a 5.5 - 8 gpm. Your best bet is to find a used pressure washing trailer, you can save a lot that way starting out. Get a either a big guy or a classic whisper washer surface cleaner. I charge from .07-.10. I normally charge that then drop/add depending on costly/time factors. Get lots of business cards, and try to do people you know first, do it for cheap and hopefully neighbors or friends will see. good luck, it's all a learning process, and I'm still in it as well.
  5. That's the kind of reply I was looking for! So what is the "proper" way? I don't see how any way wouldn't be proper unless someone used a wand and sprayed into the cracks.. Also should I spray chlorine on it? I also spray chlorine on concrete driveways to brighten it up and kill remaining algae. These pavers don't really have any algae except for one section..
  6. really? out of the 20 people, nobody can give any insight..? I don't understand why people don't reply to more threads.. I do this job Tuesday, and need some advise on trying to obtain a sealing job or passing it up?
  7. I have a client with a small driveway(around 500sq ft). I have never done pavers before, will there be any problems pressure washing them(using whisper washer classic)? I got this job, by giving a landscaper my business card at the grocery store(I work there part time). He gave me a call, and wanted a quote for his own driveway/house. I gave him his quote but was skeptical about it, he wants a house washing and his driveway/sidewalk done. Everything is really clean except a lil algae in the pavers cracks in a small section, and the sidewalk is fairly dirty.. So I figured he was just "checking my rates", so I gave him a low price a.) because it looks like a simple easy job. b.)If I could get in with this guy and he could swing me a few roof/driveway jobs that would be really good(I told him he will get a percentage of every job I get from him). I charged $50 for the driveway, probably take an hour tops and $75 for the house washing, basically just going to rinse it.. I figured I could land a sealing job off of him. How hard would it be to get a gallon of sealer from home depot and use a pump up sprayer(or even my roof cleaning set up sprayer) to do his small driveway? I have never sealed a driveway but I heard it's straight forward.. clean it, let it dry good, and spray it evenly. Is it something anyone can do, or only a "very experienced Professional" can do? Question #1: Will the pressure washing remove too much of the sand in the cracks? Question #2: Should I try to get the sealing job or pass it up? Question #3: If I bought a gallon of Kret-Seal for $25 from home depot, how much do I charge to seal this small driveway? Thanks
  8. Oops, didn't see that coming....

Looks like a nightmare to me. :/ that could have been a lot worse, good thing it wasn't!
  9. Newbie mistake

What was the issue? and I see your from ocala, you ever visit the forest?
  10. Thanks for the help Chris, I'll see if I can get it pressed on using a vice and sockets, but if not my neighbor has a press where he works. I should be getting the seal kit today, so we will find out. Yeah I guess I should rebuild the assembly on the big guy and just put it in the trailer for a back up and put the big guy body in storage until I can get a bigger machine.. and dollarspa, Ill try and see if I can find that video. thanks
  11. So no one has ever had to rebuild their swivel assembly? Guess I'll be the 1st to find out, how hard it is.
  12. black streaks on gutters! what do you use to clean them with?

I recently bought some Heavy duty degreaser at harbor freight, it works good, but doesn't make it 100% clean, it gets it white and removes all dirt but like 85% clean, like the black stains are still there. so what you guys are saying is F13 takes everything off and makes the gutters looks 100% clean? Which color do you guys prefer to clean, white gutters or dark colored gutters?
  13. Problems while Pressure Washing

So it appears no body ever really has a problems with their equipment or customers however wasps cause some trouble among everyone... haha
  14. Do you guy's actually buy the rebuild kit and do it yourself? for the last 5 years we have always had our done, and it costs like $200 bucks. The rebuild kit can be found here for $50 bucks. Also has anyone customized theirs so that you can grease it? Mine right now is spitting out all the grease and water out of the side holes.. Seal Kit - Whisper Wash Classic Repair Parts My questions are: Is it fairly easy to do for the first time? and does it always work? (we rebuilt ours last time with our own o-rings and using a few of the old seals and it didn't work..) Also does anyone run a big guy from a 4gpm honda 13 hp p.w or is that just not possible? I got trailer already rigged up and the guy said that's what he used, but I tried it on my other 4gpm p.w and it didn't spin nearly fast enough, so I'm using my 20" classic. The p.w he used it on needs the Udor pump rebuild, and it's been a pain finding a rebuild kit, but finally got one ordered last week. Thanks
  15. What are so problems you guys have had while pressure washing or roof cleaning, and how did you resolve them? Trying to get a good idea of how many people encounter bad situations on a day to day basis. Weather it's a small one or not(Machinery problems, client problems, problems you caused). Also say the biggest problem you've had to overcome. I.e. shorting electrical out. Has anyone ever had to fix something on a house and use their insurance? Say like gutters, landscaping, wood, chipping paint, etc.
