I have used in the past 2 web providers that are very competitive and have good reliability. 1AND1.com is fairly new, but offer Windows and Linux servers starting at about $5.00 a month. You can get 2000 Mb (2 gigs) for about 9.95 a month, plus web tools, search engine, photo gallery, 250 email accounts and more. 1planhost.com is another Windows based host for about 9.95 a month. 1 Gig of storage, 250 email accounts, domain registration, etc. Very Reliable. I currently have a test site running on this, but am shutting it down. Will be using 1and1 as I want to run PHP (Linux) apps. My $.02 Dave

Our prayers are to your daughter and family. I have a 10 year old daughter and could not imagine what you are going though at this time. My Father is a retired Navy Chaplain and still Ordained Minister. I will see if he can make some connections upstairs for you. Modern medicine is getting better everyday, but the Lord will prevail. In our prayers. Dave and Family

What Grade of Gasoline do you use
washdawg replied to Aplus's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Sorry Steve, You are right. I am easily sidetracked :) . Here in Central Fl, Kerosene is about impossible to find. #2 Diesel is about the only thing available. Some Mom & Pops carry off-road diesel, which is what I run in my tractor and my torpedo heater for my shop. A hot water unit is not in my budget as of now, but maybe in the next few months when I get rolling. Dave -

I'll second that. Kerosene does not have enough lubrication for the injection pumps. Maybe on some older diesels, like the Cummings B5.9 used in the early Dodge trucks (90-98), but you will risk voiding the warranty if it is discovered you are using anything but what the Owner's manual recommends. Kerosene is inbetween Diesel and Gasoline in the refining process. Some Diesels will run great on JP4 or AV1 (Jet fuel, basically Diesel with winterizing agents for the cold air at altitude). In addition, Kerosene is considered Off-Road only and the fines can be stiff if it is found in your vehicle.... Dave:lgsad: -
I am just a newbie here getting started in the biz, but having MSDS on your chems is a very good idea. I am a former law enforcement officer that was Haz-Mat trained to assist our Fire Dept, should there be an "accident". I have created labels and placards for my 5 gallon jugs, and sprayers that I will be keeping my compounds in. I have also started a notebook with MSDS on all products I plan to carry in my vehicle and trailer. Should (Heaven Forbid) any of us get into a vehicle crash or have a spill, the emergency crews should know what is on your rig, to make things easier and faster for containment and cleanup. Another good source of info is the manual published every 2 years by the DOT. It is called the Emergency Response Guide and has a listing of most known chemicals, their placard numbers, reactivity, etc. It is a free download in PDF(Acrobat format) here: http://hazmat.dot.gov/pubs/erg/erg2004.pdf Also, y'all should have an A-B-C Fire Extinguisher and a bag of plain clay kitty litter on your rig, to be safe. The kitty litter is very safe to clean up gas, diesel and other chems that may spill. Fire Extinguisher is self explanatory. For What it is Worth, Dave

I use whatever the owner's manual recommends. No sense in wasting $$$. All my small engines and my pickup run on regular unleaded. I would rather use the $$$ saved on gas for proper maintenance. All my vehicles and small engines run synthetic oil after a proper break-in, and I keep all plugs gapped correctly and change filters regularly. Another tip is to find a gas station that has low prices (here in Central Florida "RaceTrac" is one), they have a high turnover on gas and it does not sit in the tanks long. Old gas is a sure way to foul up any engine. I always run out the fuel to shut them off, unless I will be using it daily. Just my .02 Dave -
I am looking at one of the 3000 psi 5gpm units at watercannon. That is about my budget for now. I understand that gpm is more important than pressure, especially since I plan on specializing in wood restoration. I can always cut the pressure down with the right nozzle selection. I will be doing some res. driveways and house washing too. Thanks for the advice! Dave

Jeff, I checked out Water Cannon's site, and they do have great prices. Sent for catalog. May go down next week to their shop and see what they have. Thanks again. Dave:irritated

Thanks for welcoming me to the board. I am not a stranger to the internet and BBS's. Beth, I understand where you are coming from with the database problems. I used to run a BBS about 12 years ago when a 386 processor and a 14.4k modem was the ultimate! Remember FidoNet? I used to be a mail hub for that...How times have changed.:) Jon, Thnks for the info on the Lowes machine. I know which one you are talking about a Troy-Bilt 3700 psi and 4 gpm. I found a local store that will setup a 4000 psi 4 gpm belt drive CAT pump for a few hundred more. I would rather have the belt drive rig with a decent unloader. The Honda engines are great, as they are pretty easy to tear down and rebuild. Ken, I realize that the FL market is pretty saturated, but I have to wash my house down about every 6 months (I live lakefront and the insect mess is all over the soffits.) Mold and mildew grow faster than the weeds around here, mainly due to high humidity and rain 9 months out of the year on average, plus a few hurricanes. Any suggestions on how to get rid of caterpillar cocoons and mildew from perforated aluminum soffits w/o getting water into the attic. This kind of soffit is very popular in Central Florida. I have been using a truck brush and a mixture of Dawn and 12.5% chlorine. Works okay, but I still get black streaks. Should I try some Gutter Zap? Thanks, Dave

Hi all, I have been lurking this board for a few weeks gathering the tons of info on the industry. I posted yesterday in the intro section, but it deleted overnight...hmm. I am currently in the process of getting my business started, but will not be in business until after the first of the year. I will be doing this part time for now, as I have a great job as a computer specialist for a local Sheriff's Office. I am planning on specializing in fence, deck and wood restoration. I am a avid woodworker and enjoy restoring antiques and building everything from decks to cigar humidors. It has been a challenge researching and getting quotes on insurance, licenses and LLC, etc. I want to be a legitimate business, unlike many that are in my area (low-ballers I believe the industry calls them). I have had about 2 years experience running Pressure Washers back when I worked in a restaurant on a Naval Base. We had to pressure wash (hot and steam) and degrease every 30 days if not sooner. Became my job as I loved to do it. I am shopping for a good commercial grade cold water unit to get started plus some extras like the surfacer, and rotary nozzle. I am sure I will be asking lots of questions before I get started. Oh, If any of you need help with MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.), I used to instruct on them and would be happy to help with any problems. I also am the webmaster for our Agency and can help with HTML and ASP. Sorry I am so long winded... Dave
