  1. Let me attempt to clarify. First lets define a few often confused terms, Combustion - A self sustaining chemical reaction yielding energy or products that further reactions of the same kind. Fire - A rapid self sustaining oxidization process producing light and heat. Flash Point - The minimum temp. required for liquid or volatile solid to give off vapors to form an ignitable mixture with air near its surface. The vapors will flash in the presence of an ignition source, but will NOT continue to burn. Flammable - Capable of burning or producing flame. The flash point is used to determine how flammable a liquid is. Liquids with lower flash points (lower temps.) and burn easily are classified as flammable liquids, those liquids with higher flash points (higher temps.) are classified as combustible liquids. In general the lower the flash point, the greater the hazard. In order for combustion to take place, four elements are required. Fuel, Oxidizer (O2), Heat and Chemical chain reaction. Imagine a triangle, one point being Fuel, a second point being Oxidizer, the third being Heat, and in the center, Chemical chain reaction. If you remove any of the four elements, combustion is not possible. This model is known as the "fire tetrahedron". Combustion is a reaction, an example of a slow reaction would be oxidation (rust), a rapid example would be an explosion. Hope this helps. Oh yeah, Matt, post some after pics.
  2. I have 400 sq.ft of 2 yr. old PTP decking. No prior cleaning / sealing. My plan, Clean w/EFC-38 Neutralize w/OX or Citralic Sealed w/ESI's WTO - Warm Honey Gold I also have a sample amount of WTW - Warm Honey Gold, Thinking of selecting an area (prob. handrail) and spliting it into thirds. 1 third apply WTO only. 1 third apply WTW only. 1 third apply WTO, topped w/WTW. This deck is in full exposure of sun and elements Your thoughts and or suggestions appreciated. Thanks Ron
  3. Close-up, Yeah, I see the "fuzzies", to be expected from a newbie hack! Not sure how the color will look on your 'puter, but it's not to orange, once it dries in a bit. Just as advertized, "warm honey gold".
  4. Gutter Mixture

If you are using MS Windows go to the MS website, they have a free download utility that allows you to resize pics. Iam currently running MS Vista, I run a program called VSO Image resizer, free download also.
  5. Here in the northeast, we have many Capes & Colonial style homes. Some have dormers, Sometimes it is easier for me to throw a ladder to hit the area where the side of the dormer meets the roof. If this area is a north exposure and the house has not been washed for some time, it can get real nasty. Most instances dormers can be cleaned from the ground by D.S. or X-Jet.
  6. Thanks Russell, What if I give the WTO a period of time to dry a bit, say a week or even a month, then could I top coat w/WTW? I thought that I recalled others posting about applying WTW over an oil, maybe it was a situation much like you stated where the wood was extremely dry, just trying to clarify.
  7. What's Your Favorite Gutter Brush

John, Great idea, I know what you mean about have something to better fit the contour of the gutter and maybe a swivel so the brush stays in contact regardless of your extension pole angle.
  8. Don, I agree w/Mike & Larry, try to upsell. If that does'nt work out, your just starting out, this sounds like a small job, figure your cost (materials/time) If yor getting close to $100.00 per hr. your doing well.
  9. Don, Any more info? Elevation? Type of siding? Vegetation? Other PITA factors?
  10. Rick, Why is it that you rinse citralic when using one product but not the other? What would you do in the case of cedar, or exotics?
  11. Respirator ?

20 mins. Wow, you must be in great shape. I usually get about half that, LOL
  12. Respirator ?

Mike, Why not wear your Scott Pak. No ox vapors and no hydroxide in the eye!
  13. Gutter Mixture

Scott, Are you removing black streaks by downstreaming? If so, would you elaborate on your process? Thanks. Ron
  14. Gutter Mixture

This is a 10 y/o gutter using Gutter Zap, 1:1, brushed, rinsed. The results are good but required a second and third application in some areas. Not to mention more product is required. A simple matter of economics for me. The F-13 allows me a greater profit. Less chem + Less labor = :lgmoneyey
  15. Gutter Mixture

    I recently switched from Gutter Zap to F-13. 2.5 y/o gutter. F-13 @ 20:1, brushed on, rinsed.
  16. Travis, congrats on landing the bid! Seems like you have a solid business model, most important. I too, always try to educate my customers. A little education goes a long way in building trust and credibility. Good-Luck Ron
  17. My Bride

Condo King by day....Rico Suave by night. LOL. Rico Suave is basically a man who is for all intended purposes the following: Good Looking, muscular, "macho"-being totally cool toward everyone and everything, very clean and neat in appearance, a man who is 100% man: almost every lady is attracted to him because of his great charismatic ability, and when need be, he can be a real bad guy to mess with. Rico Suave is more of a definitive personality type, go to the beach in the summer and you will see several who fit the above, in addition to wearing sunglasses and jewelry, he is a ladies man, enjoying fast cars, hot woman, and good at hustling people in pool. Rico Suave is what every man wants to be, but 99.7% of men never live up to. "Man, that guy has it going on, he's a real Rico Suave".... Seriously Jeff, you know the saying: "Behind every good man is a great woman".
  18. Pricing for wax add on

Interesting. At the start of this thread you refered to a "chalky house". Did you wash it yet? This friggin weather has been rediculous!:lgtear:
  19. Pricing for wax add on

Mike, Did you wash the house yet? Curious about your results. Wax?
  20. Free Broadband From Google!

It can be difficult to LOG on at times. Likely a FIBER optics issue.
  21. New House?

  22. Red Sox

Ok James if you say so. The boy still has time to convert and free himself from the dark side! Till we meet in Sept.
  23. Red Sox

Ahhhh yes. A very discouraging series vs. the Yanks. JBruno, I hope the recent sweep helps ease the pain of the devastating 2004 ALCS. That must still burn! Sweep every series from here to eternity, you'll never take away "one of the greatest comebacks in baseball history". Go Sox! By the way, that young man in your avatar, is that a "Super Papi" tee shirt he's wearing? Wah-ha-ha.
