  1. A annoucement about the STL Roundtable

    What happened? Just curious.
  2. Political bumper stickers.....

A picture is worth a thousand bumber stickers! Crazy *****!
  3. This year, all chems will remain on the trucks. I will purchase D.S. injectors that will work with my various lengths of hose ranging from 200 ft. to 250 ft. My guys are gonna be really happy. Yes, they will have to go to the truck to switch the "suck" tube from stripper to brightener, but they have to go back to check the water level in the tank anyway. This will be a great "upgrade" for us thie year. We have always D.S.'d our deck chems, but we always had to carry the 5 gal. buckets to the deck and back. Not anymore! Heck, I just might fire a guy so I can use this new way of doing things!LOL
  4. need fencing help

That price is too cheap. You should at least charge .75 per sq. ft. I would downstream stripper on it, wash it at 800 psi. then downstream a brightener on it, then, see ya. Using stripper will cut your wash time in half while improving the final result immensely. Good luck, PM's are all really cheap.
  5. Combatting low-ballers

I used to give this to every potential customer with every bid. I also had it in one of my advertisements. It was in a mag. that I advertised in. There were 4 $99.00 idiots in there with me. It got a lot of laughes from callers. How to tell the difference between a professional contractor and a typical.doc
  6. Combatting low-ballers

Ken & Celeste, good points. Prequalification is huge. There's a few different ways to do this: Form of advertising, demegaphics, & asking questions over the phone. In the heat of deck season, I don't have the time to waste on lowball lovers. I would rather spend a few short minutes on the phone qualifying them than driving all the way to their home for nothing.
  7. 24

Need I say more?! This is gonna be the best season yet. Poor Jack though! What a "welcome home" party! I can't believe what happened to Curtis. I really liked that guy too. I guess Jack had no choice.
  8. Is the B-more water based? If so, strip it all off and put an oil base on the deck. Honestly, after 2 years, you should really strip all of them and put a good sealer on them. If R.S. is the best you use, then use that. I have never used R.S. I have heard both good and not so good about it.
  9. Essential Chemicals for Begginers

    No problem
  10. Hey Mel, what injector do you use for 300 ft. of hose?
  11. Good question. Up to 200 ft. of hose. I tried it and it worked.
  12. If your mix is strong enough, downstreaming is more than sufficient. I have always downstreamed all of my deck chems for years.
  13. Shop or Home

Nice diggs Hugh! Jeff, nice space. At the rate you're growing, you'll need a bigger one soon.
  14. Shop or Home

I use an office too. The front is an office and the back is a big garage. I can fit my 15 foot straight truck and 3 one ton vans in the garage. I also have all of my chems in there. 1 - 55 gal. drum of truck wash soap 1 - 150 gal drum of deck stripper 1 - 80 gal drum of deck brightener 1,000,000 - miscellaneious thingies. The garage is heated. After 3 years of kerosine heaters, this was a big plus.
  15. No more doing your own crappy lables that don't last more than 1 hour! These 5 gallon jugs look pretty handy. When permanantly & properly labled, they will help with safety and organization. I'm thinking about ordering some. B4 I do, does anyone know of a better site to order from? BTW, they have several different ways to label the jugs. H002: 5 gallon Clear HDPE water storage comes with M085 and vent lid
  16. Shower Type Nozzle Holder # 2412-444 This thing rocks! I got 2 the other day. Great for downstreaming with any nozzle. Just thought I'd share.
  17. Shower nozzle

I'd say 10 to 15 feet. You can vary the width and length of the "cone." BTW, the cool thing is, the tip you put in the middle also sprays. So there is no "empty spot." Just twist 1 way for low pressure, and twist the other way for high pressure. No handle bar, switching nozzles, or being stuck with a 15 degree nozzle with a push/pull.
  18. Essential Chemicals for Begginers

I shop here. Envirospec North Paul is honest and has great chems & equip.
  19. Good question. If the deck is really grey, (P.T. wood) I will d.s. the stripper on it. This loosens the grey fibres just enough to wash them off quick & easy. If it is a cedar deck and just a little gray or very grey, I will pre wet it and then d.s. the stripper on it, then wash. Of course, I follow with a brightener. Why have "cleaners" if the stripper works just as well, or better? A number of times, I would think that there wasn't any stain on a deck. (Old Pennofin gets really dark & moldy.) After I sprayed the stripper on and started washing, I saw the old stain coming off. Try it, it really works great.
  20. Aren't we blessed

This is really a great place to go. I consider you all friends of mine. Yes, even you crazy libs! LOL! I have learned more here than any class or convention I have ever attended. Thank you all for the posts. Also, thanks for putting up with my sarcastic sense of "humor."
