  1. Phillip, what you said was very well put. There are so many "up from the ashes" success stories in this great country.

Barry, I really think with all of our help & your experience, you have a great shot at being a very succesfull full time PWer. Think about it, all you need to do is land 1 fleet wash account, and you are on your way. ONE FLEET WASH ACCOUNT!!!! I have done very well with fleets for several years now, and I can help you get started with the right chems, equip (if needed), sales pitch, and so on.

Actually, if you want to come and visit me, you are more than welcome. I'm not that far from you. Work with us for 1-3 days and I'll show you all I can. You will leave all fired up and with a lot of knowledge.

  2. I generally stay away from follow ups simply because i hate to pressure the potential customer. I feel that I have made my sales pitch and if he wants my work he will call. Hounding the guy isnt going to help.

Jonathan, I think you misunderstood my ?. - I was asking if you guys do follow up calls on bids left at the customer's home without meeting the customer.

BTW - I always do follow up calls. I have earned the right to do so. Because I -

    Paid for the ad

    Answered the phone

Qualified the customer over the phone

Answered their questions over the phone

Addressed their concerns over the phone

Shared my valuable knowledge over the phone

    Drove to their home

    Measured their deck

    Inspected their deck

    Wrote up a detailed proposal

Left them with a bunch of useful info backed by a lot of thought & experience.

  3. I closed a $3,500.00 deck last year in my dirty work clothes. I warned her b4 I came and she said she didn't care how I looked. The funny thing was when I got to her house I looked at my reflection in her door window and my face was covered in MUD! Even worse, I had already rung the doorbell! When she answered the door she laughed hysterically at me. Who would have thought mud would be a ice breaker & a closer! I think I'm gonna keep a fresh jar of mud in my truck for the big jobs.

Anyways, the info on closing here is very good for face to face, but, most of the time when I do bids, the cust. is not home. How many of you do follow up calls, and if so, how do you handle them?
