Deck with Pool
SLHC replied to tropical wave's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I think stripper will just raise the PH of the pool water.Warn the costumer they will have to adjust PH level once work is complete, vacuum for debri and maybe give a few days for the water to clear up ,and it should be just fine. If they are still worried after that, suggest drain and re-fill Apply stripper in the manner that it will not enter the pool straight.Use a shurflo for instance.Rinse a little away from the pool to dilute before powerwashing -
need help!! xjetting oxalic/?????
SLHC replied to andrew hartigan's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Apply it bottom to top and you won't have streaks.Really no need to shoot the gutters with it -
101 is yellowish orange,my deck looks same way, except i am ok with that. Use the same oxygen bleach to remove it,mix it twice as strong and powerwash .If that doesn't work, use a chemical stripper. It will look about the same for 6 month to a year depending on the exposure. On my pool deck it faided in 6 month, but it stayed wet every day.

No real advertising as mentioned,no business plan i am sure, why would someone pay more then the equipment is worth.? How are the phones going to keep on ringing?Just having someones name and number doesn't mean a thing, you can open a phone book and get plenty of them. Were all of the costumers sattisfied,do they still have your number, are they getting cheaper quotes etc.??? Unless your business name is nationwide or locally very well recognized ,you will never sell the business at that price. And as you mentioned on e-bay, not much advertising, it just simply can not be that popular. For 100k someone could buy all new equipment and launch a hell of an advertising campain, much more for 225 Still, good luck and let us know

Repairing a finish
SLHC replied to RCBill's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Sounds like a good money job to me.I would charge twice the normal rate and sell on strip, sand and re-stain. If someone is asking you just to spot treat it,tell them it can't be done and sell the whole thing. If they don't go for it,i would agree with the above posts and wouldn't touch the job -
I use skype.com You could be sitting in Japan and calling US at a rate of 2 cents per minute from your laptop.Need an internet connection first.I usually deposit $10 when i go overseas and that lasts me 2 month.I check my messages every day and return all my business calls.Very good quality Free pc-pc calling.I think you can make a conference call with up to like 10 people, have some sort of powerwashing chat

Good question here.I was just wondering about the same thing here. Myself i only used to wear a respirator when spraying roofs with straight bleach or oil based stains. That's when you really have to wear one.I would not get on the roof without one. Now i have gotton into a habbit of wearing one when cleaning homes too.I get enaugh fumes on my way home from smelling my clothes . My question is who wears gloves when using bleach?? I never do,never have.I know this is crazy but my urine sometimes smells like bleach.I think it gets absorbed through my skin. Can anyone comment on this,it just doesn't seem to be good for my health to be soaked in bleach all day

Call-backs from 1 year ago
SLHC replied to Jarrod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
That's one costumer you need to drop. Why don't she call the last guy that did it? -
I spent $200.00m fixing my Whisper wash and it still needs more.I just got tired of the BS and bought a cheapo North Star 20" for $300.00 On top of that i got 2 year replacement warranty for $30 Whisper wash didn't last me that long, maybe i have used it 80 hours, their swivel assembly is way too complicated,it has more seals and gaskets then a surface cleaner needs.

Hail Damage on Ready Seal?????
SLHC replied to Tim Smith's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Is this your deck,if so i would call insurance and have them pay for it. Not exactly sure what could have happened without seeing some pictures. Are there dents in the wood? Worst case scenario, clean, maybe sand and re-coat. Johny -

SLHC replied to h2owizards's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
You can get the same ratio with other machines, just have to get the right x-jet for it or use the proportioners. Johny -

Best way to apply stripper?
SLHC replied to Limeade's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I use x-jet to apply stripper and acid, pump ups are history but make a good back up.I have went through a 100 of them,no more wasting my money. Shurflo set up i bought from Sunbrite, fell apart very fast and had problems since day 1.I just make my own now. Johny Johny -
The flow at my home is 4 gpm, average around here is 5.This is the reson I haven't purchased an 8gpm machine yet. Johny
