  1. Insurance

Jonathan, I'm using J.D. Walters as well, and the quote you received is on target with what I got for the same 1 million dollar policy. The cost to insure my equipment was a little over $100.00 more so I added that to the policy also. Dewy

  3. 3.7 vs 5.5

Thanks for the help guy's. Dewy
  4. 3.7 vs 5.5

Rod, I'm looking to stay between $ 1,500- $ 2,000 for the cold water belt drive. Thanks, Dewy
  5. Looking to invest in my first machine for housewashes, flatwork etc.. and I'm having trouble deciding between a couple of belt drive machines. A local dealer has a Mi-T-M pumping 3.7gpm @ 3700psi, however I found a machine online that pumps 5.5 @ 2500psi. The higher gpm's would be nice for the housewashing but the low psi's concerns me for doing concrete and powering a surface cleaner in the future. Both units have Honda 13Hp engines and the price difference between the two is only a couple of hundred bucks. Which machine do you feel would have served you best starting off your business and would have been the best long term investment? Thanks, Dewy
  6. Landa ?

Hello Everyone, I've been spending the last few weeks entrenched in the archives of this board and wearing out the search function button. You all have provided a wealth of information and I thank you, especially to Beth and Rod for providing this site. I'm a full time Professional firefighter here in Virginia and am looking to get started in roof cleaning and houswashing, since I'm only working 10 days a month for the department. Already, I have visited an accountant and started the paperwork to form a corporation and am getting insurance quotes at this time. A search for a labor for learning opportunity will soon follow. Right now I'm in the process of a purchasing some equipment based on the research that I have done on this board and I have run across a Landa PG-4200 cold water unit, approx 24 hrs use, that flows 3.8gpm and 2000psi. While the gpm is not bad the low psi concerns me. Bear in mind this is a starter unit and will be primarily used for housewashing's. Do you all think this unit is worth purchasing or should I shop around more, for a higher psi unit? Thanks for the help. Dewy
  7. Anyone live in Lynchburg, VA?

Ogden, I don't live in Lynchburg but do live near Roanoke about an hour west of Lynchburg. I'm assuming that you are looking for computer and tech employmnet rather than power washing correct? If so, I'd look towards the Roanoke and Blacksburg areas. Both of these have bigger populations, Roanoke, and more of the tech type of jobs avaliable, Blacksburg. Carilion Healthcare is one of the regions largest employers and you might be able to start with them looking for oppurtunities. If you like the outdoors theres plenty to do around here when your not working i.e. hiking, fishing, and whitewater rafting etc.. Let me know if I can get you any more specific information and I'd be glad to do so. Dewy
