FLORIN replied to ls1cameric's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Hey Bob.... If I order something from you can you "accidently" drop something in the box. I need a good surface cleaner... hint hint. -
I bet. Lifelong dream is to go to alaska for grizzley. Will need to bring an extra pair of shorts to change into after the shot though.

Is November the best month to wash a house?
FLORIN replied to James's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Gotcha. I havent brushed yet. It must be the mold or gunk you guys get over there. Ive just used my housewash mix, downstreamed and they come out beautiful. -
Nice Ant. I would love to go more predator hunting. Going to Oregon for elk with bow here in a couple weeks. Only got time for one weekend but better than nothin. Have a bear and cougar tag with me too if one comes my way.

Gutters are good money. Since you mentioned in other threads that you are slow. I could make a $1000 a day in gutters if they are in the same area and dont have to drive too far in between em -
Weather Challenges
FLORIN replied to CraftonHill's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Same here. Just be up front at the beginning about the possibility of weather delays due to the chance of rain and keep in contact with them about it. They would rather have their deck done right and not rushed and have the possibility of their stain ruined due to bad weather. -

For flatwork you really have top look the professional part. Must be in uniform and go and meet the managers and owners of the places you are targeting. Do a free demo of your cleaning.

Just keep at it. Get your company name out wherever you go. Get logod shirts and hats. Pass out biz cards to everybody around you. Signs for your truck. Professional flyers or brochures and pass them out. Advertise in every free advertising site you can. Get a website. Referral program, I will give anybody 20 cash if their referrall results in a paying job. Even if its somebody i am not servicing. My neighbor rents so doesnt want anything washed but he got me 9 paying jobs this year. Easy $180 for him. Easy $3200 in jobs for me.

To me that sounds on the LOW side, but again im in a different demographic than you. A 2 bedroom condo around here is the same price as a small mansion in some of your guys parts. Also I wouldnt block price like that if it was me. Different size homes and different length runs of gutter can really bite you in the a$$ by pricing it that way. In my opinion per lineal is the most accurate. Also be careful on how much stock you put on your "neighbors" knowledge of the DL on gutter pricing. Just cause she got it done by Joe Blow Pressure Washing for that amount two years ago does not mean that that is the going rate or what YOU should charge. You will go out of business quick by listening to what the homeowner suggests you should charge. If that IS the going rate of your neighborhood and it does not meet what you need to make to keep in business then I suggest that you concentrate your advertising to another neighborhood that "the going rate" is to what you need to make.

HEY NOW, dont try to butter me up so you can get out of the million dollar question prize.... I try to do good work but I think the credit for my success so far goes to the great men and women on these PW sites that unselfishly put their thoughts, ideas and techniques for all to see for the betterment of the industry. Just stick around and read and learn and it will pay didvidens on the success of your business.

Well here is the million dollar answer. At least for me anyways. ... I am not a "pressure washer." I am an exterior cleaning professional. Gutters fall into the exterior category. The pressure washer is only a tool in my arsenal to do exterior cleaning including brushes, brooms, leaf blowers, sprayers, squeegees, rags, sponges, extension poles, ladders and so on. The pressure washer has its place in some of the jobs but some it don't and same goes with the other tools. About 90 percent of my work doesn't even involve the "pressure" in my pressure washer. Most is done using LOW pressure and use the pressure washer as a method to apply my chemicals, for the high reach areas that I could get from the ground, the gpms needed to rinse. Even though you have to hand scoop the gutters the washer can still be used for this purpose. After hand scooping all the debris I use the washer to flush out the dirty water at the bottom or the small debris that I cannot pick out by hand. I also use it to flush out and make sure the downspouts are working properly, and I use it to clean the outside of the gutters. Again its just a tool and not your whole makeup of your business.Ok now I want my million dollars payable thru paypal.

The pictures below are a place that I cleaned out the gutters using my PW. The stuff gets everywhere and can take you more time cleaning up the house rather than hand scouping out the gutters. This job was a total package so was gonna wash the ouse anyways. If you look at the deck below you can see the debris. Most houses you can walk the roof, or scoot on your butt to hand scoup out. Then you put it in a bucket or trash bag that you carry with you. What I do with some places that are right for it i spread out plastic on the ground below and I just scoup out by hand and throw to plastic below. With this way it is faster because I dont have to be as carefull to get it in the bucket or bag. Ithen go below and lift up the edges to where the debris gets in the middle and i tie it and use that as the bag.

Get a deck by thru the winter?
FLORIN posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Bid a 600 floor sq ft deck about a month ago. Customer hmmd and hawwed until now to give me the go ahead to do the deck restoration. Weather wise its too late because on dry days it dips into the 30s at night and the rest of the days are in the 40s but raining. She understands i wont be able to do the restoration till spring but she is worried that more damage to her deck will occur thru the winter. Right now she has a peeling and failing behr solid. There is spots where the wood is starting to rot which those areas i bid to replace boards. Concern is that with the exposed wood more will start to rot before summer gets here. Anything I can do to tie the deck over till then in terms of applying something that will protect but easy to remove in the spring time and will do ok with the funky weather? -

The thing is this is Seattle. It rains all the time. Nothing ever really dries out around here. -

Sorry, let me clarify... I didnt mean to strip it right now. I understand how bad the deck will get if it gets stripped and not stained for the whole winter. What i meant was is there a product or if i should even apply a product,(spot stain) on the exposed areas just so those areas dont start to rot due to moisture and then come in the spring stripp the old failing stain AND the product that i applied on spots. The wood is cedar. -
Can anybody recommend a decent pair of gloves that can be used for hand gutter cleaning. Tried rubber gloves but they get caught and torn too easyly. Tried thicker gloves but make my hand that much fatter and cant scoup out too good. Plus cold weather is coming. Maybe have some warmth to them too. My hands are getting tore up on the 5+ a day gutter cleanings to the point where i have trouble moving my hands due to all the cuts and scratches.

Nice. Me and my hands thank you
