Really good here. I have definately been hitting the real estate angle and it is paying off.

Sorry if i am hijacking... Speaking of lights, is there any laws on how many or what type of lights you can have. Can just anyone put a flashing yellow light on their rig or do you need a permit. Looking into installing one for people to stay away and at the same time catch their attention as they are driving by.

I just read a thread on ptstate - another typical guy coming on for the first time asking about square tanks vs. round - wants to know if a van setup is good to chase commercial and residential, as that what he plans to do. And to boot he's in South Michigan. Now I got this sick feeling in my stomach - like ughh - another newbie who thinks the pressure washing trade is good money and will be doing $89 house washes.
What I want to know - is it responsible to congratulate the guy and give him the confidence for starting up a new business - especially someone that sounds like they never had a business before nor any real experience with pressure washing? Is it in our own self interestes to welcome guys aboard during this economy? Call me selfish - but I feel like I will be struggling just to make ends meat - that I am working day and night trying to understand SEO just so I can get a decent website ranking and maybe make an extra couple of grand in sales I wouldn't have last season - I really want to discourage anyone from coming into the trades right now. I just don't need the headaches of dealing with $89 guys right now, especially when I know they won't last anyways.
Okay, I will be the first one.. You are selfish!!!:D
I would rather someone come on here and learn to do it right and and learn the proper pricing and business tactics than to do it on their own and do what they think is correct. I will help anyone in my area that ASKS. I do get some sneaky guys that call me and pretend they are a homeowner just to get my pricing and those I blow off. But the guys that call me and straight out tell me who they are and they are trying to start this biz up, I tell them what to do and how to do it. I have even given them work when I am too busy. They eventually have done the same to me when they got a project they could not handle. Funny thing though is I tell them about the BBS's but I have not seen any of them around unless they stay in the background. I guess they missunderestimate what a great tool these sites are.

And when he does he doesnt really do it

Look the guy is full of it and has been exposed. It is human nature for him to defend himself. I guarantte if you leave him alone he will dissapear.Great find. His story tilts the boolsheet meter in my opinion.

I got in a debate with someone on a forum about how to do a good job pressure washing. You can see the thread here, it starts at post #32.
I setup a series of questions on my website and I would like to get your opinion by voting on the polls.
Thanks
It looks to me like the poll results are contradicting your teachings.

Got a service rep that is looking for someone to clean the awnings at the downtown Seattle store of BARNEYS NEW YORK. They want it done biannualy. Requirement is that you have to have 2 million insurance policy. I had to pass it up because it is not cost effective for me to upgrade my insurance policy to the 2 mill for just an awning cleaning. PM, CALL OR REPLY FOR CONTACT INFO.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!!!! Hope all have a safe trip if you are traveling and enjoy your time with your families.

Has he busted out the tape on your deck yet? If not then you should be proud of your work, cause if that guy cant find anything wrong with it then you must have done a great job.

Thanks. Got some brasso brass polish. some wax. bringing some housewash solution with me and if all fails I will just repaint it if he chooses me to.
-
probably Brasso on the brass, But The guys door may have faded because you washe dthe dirt off. Might need a paint job. Never really had that problem.... Did he have a storm door?Just a plain old wooden painted door. He is saying it took the shine away from the paint in some areas.

Darn, I thought I was gonna go the whole year with no complaints.. Just got a call this morning from a customer which i did a housewash for him on Sunday. He called and said that his front door is dull, duller in places than it was before. And that his brass is dull too. It is a light blue painted door. I used a normal housewash mix of SH. I want to go tonight to rectify the problem but would like to bring along with me the right chems or soulutions to rectify it. What do I need to bring or buy to fix this? I know a brass polish but what aboout the door? Would a good wax work? if it is blotchy do i have to do anything else before a wax? Is there anything else I could try?

Exactly! :)You have problems missing the toilet too, Celeste?

I just like it on my plate. No matter how its cooked.

Florin, Depending on the size of the house and the amount of windows. One to two hundred dollars can be added and up to a wash job. House that are 4500 sqft and up will be more.Yes sir. I upcharge about the same amount you mentioned. More towards the igher end. What i meant was how much more cost out of my pocket for the di setup. I think someone elsde covered it though. I am gonna look deeper into this. At least use it for the very hard to reach windows and squeegee the main windows and lower level ones. Im gettin a minimum of 3 per window pane exterior only in my area. Goes up with higher windows.

I have an airless sprayer tip.... Dont accidentaly pull the trigger while looking at the tip to see why it is clogged.:lgsad:

WOW, Beth, you should make a whole new forum section just for bathroom wood resto. I thought I remember a outhouse restored pics and thread on the TGS too. It might just be a niche for some companies.:)

Congrats brutha. Gettin married myself next year in august. Hope I have as much luck as you for a lasting marriage.

Hot water capable here. Makes a big difference

hmmm. very interesting. Ive looked in to a di system before when was looking to do a carlot but this is a totally different ball game. Dont need to use as much. I get quite a few requests for window cleaning but I usually price em so high that most dont go for them because I hate squeegieing them.
-
How much extra cost does a DI treatment put into a housewash?

Downstream MrClean (very dilute) for spot free windows. There is also a product we use called Glide that rocks.Which Mr. Clean product do you downstream. Last I remember at the grocery store they make a bunch of products.
Blown Seal On Cox Reel

I have the same reel and had had that happen a few times. For me it was just worn seal. I have noticed it happened to me once when I turned machine on first and then unravelled the hose. Now I dont spin the reel when the machine is on and it has not had a problem.
