Like Ron said after a certain distance the water isn't that hot anymore. Have you ever felt the cold mist hit your face. I stand back away from the plants to rinse, probably is like a warm summers rain to the plants. I have just added a surface cleaner that I backed my heat down to 140, and have keep it there for other uses also. I would like to ask is 200 degrees better than 130 or is that just more fuel. I need to find this article. Hank

I would like to get some feedback on the idea of Retainer Contracts. This would be for newer companys or people that have months that they struggle. The basic idea is to offer a guaranteed amount of work or days of work at a slightly reduced rate. In exchange for this you are guaranteed a regular monthly rate. The company is given 1 bill a month. It would seem to work well with PM company's and builders/realestate company's. If I get 4 company's to commit to $1500 a month for 2 or 3 days of work, that would be a good month. These are just random figures, but you can see the idea. The contract can have a 30 day out for both sides in case either side is taking advantage of the other. Anyone had problems or success with these idea. Hank

I have talked with a company about purchasing a surface cleaner and they mentioned the red glider II, it would be between that or a Classic. I was leaning towards the BE 2000wawy ( less $$$), but they said it really wouldn't handle heat. I know this subject has been beat to death, but my search didn't pull up anything on the red glider. That worried me. Has anyone had any experience with this unit. Thanks for any input. Hank

Chris, Thanks again for your advice. I'm listening.

You are you idiot!!

For some strange reason I feel like I'm talking to myself.
-
Ok it's hydroscrub not Hydrotec.
-
That didn't work. Try WWW.pressurewashersupplies.com

Mike, Chris, Thanks for your reply's. The Red Glider is made by Americlean which is a company that seperated from Hydrotec, (I Think). I went with the RG because of the sells pitch that the gun comes off of the unit with out having to turn off your washer. You can then rinse and cut in quicker. If I was suckered, this forum well hear about it. I know the "classic" would have been the safe choice, but I was looking for a feature that one had and the others didn't. We will see. Hank http://www.pressurerwashersupplies.com/surface_cleaner_3.htm I've never inserted a site before good luck.

Can some of you math wiz kids give me formulas. Example, psi/gpm with different tips. I've also seen tips like 25025, I know what my zero is (it's a bad motha (shut cho mouth) but need to know other numbers also. What about hose length,:lgangry: do I lose heat the longer I have my hose. I'm about to invest in a surface cleaner and I believe that the size of the tips need to equal the gpm's I put out, is this correct, or can you change the psi with the tip. I have a 3000/4gpm hotzy, if that matters. Am I at 3000 psi with the zero, see my point. I was told by the dealer. that I shouldn't mess with the psi control on my machine (right-wrong) I are edumacated, so bring it on. Hank Thanks for all ya'll do.

Don, So with my standard tips, I would have 0040, 15040, 25040, 40040. All at 3000 psi. If that is right, if I use a 15055 (15 degree at 5.5 gpm) that drops my psi since my machine only pushes 4gpm. The 055 being the nozzle size. Larry, Sorry about being fague, the third number is under my psi, 1st being nozzle size then orifice. To get to 1000 psi I need a nozzle at 8 w/orifice at 0.072.

Thanks Larry, I'm still not up to speed, I see on the chart that if I double my Nozzle size my third number doubles also. What is the third number in reference to. Hank

I thought I would ask for a little fun somewhat meaningful discussion on little tricks to make things easier. I'm about a 2 months into my business and don't post much. I tend to sit here and use search. Some things I would like to know are the stuff that seasoned professionals take for granted. How to make things easier. #1 I have found that I like to start a housewash at the farthest point from my rig and work back. #2 I also hope that this is the worst spot on the house. Like the north side. #3 work with the sun behind me (hard to clean through a rainbow). #4 fill your tanks before you start, fill your your cans, also. #5 Take food and drink. #6 Make friends with the dogs (quick).#7 On flat work, the quickest way I have found to finish is to think about the money I'm going to make so I can invest in a surface cleaner. #8 Take extra clothes, I clean, yet I get dirty. I clean with water, so I get wet. #9 Take pictures, B4 and after. #10 Check and double check that you have everything you need before you leave for the job. Make sure you leave the job with what you came with, and nothing more. #11 I now know why there are more lawncare co's than PWing co's, Any body can point a mower in a straight line, It takes someone special to do what you do! I know I have leftout other thoughts, but this is a good start. PS. Thanks for everyone being supportive to each other in this business. It only makes our industry stronger and more respected.

I've talked with a concrete staining specialty company about doing their prep work and 1 thing that they liked for outdoor jobs was that I could still do the work, in the rain. This would save them a day on the job. Time is money.

Does anyone have a contract with a University or College. I would like to know what you offer them, how you price each project, contracts, things like that. I live in a town with 3 colleges and would like to get on their radar screen to call for their every need. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Hank

Do drought conditions have any effect on cleaning ability in areas. We have had a dry Fall, Winter and water supplies are low. Can a company be stopped from doing it's job if the primary tool is water. Anyone ever run across this situation.

What is your opinion of the Hotsy product line. I have a local dealer and I'm looking at this line to start the business.

I've been quoted $4000. for a HCS-403039E. It has 13 hp Honda/3.9gpm @3000 psi. 12 volt burner/oil fired 50 ft hose/gun and wand. This was the top unit, they also quoted me on 2 other units of lesser value and capabilities. I going to start in the resdentual market and work into commercial. The rep said with this unit I would be able to clean anything I came across.

If you could start over at this business what would you change, What equipment, FT/PT, would you specialize, add on services. Any thing else you can think of.
