Hey Bob, Could you fab a device that would let you know that your trailer is NOT secured to the hitch ball? Sounds like you could sell a bunch right here. ***************************** Here's a stupid thing I did just 2 days ago. Not that it's the only stupid thing I've ever done, just the most recent. After having built out my entire trailer, cutting steel, welding, grinding etc. nothing more than just minor cuts and splinters. So 2 days ago, getting toward the end of my very long project...I'm grinding away on a piece of metal and for some stupid reason as soon as I get done I lay my arm right on it... SIZZLE -SIZZLE - SIZZLE Awe, the smell of burn't flesh in the morning. You just can't beat it. And the wonderful feeling that it leaves just makes you want to sing a happy song!

Difference in Makita models

Matt... If it's that bad what about renting one of those large floor sanders that they use when refinishing wood floors? It seems that it would be a heck of a lot easier on your back and would probably do a better job than a small hand tool. -Todd- -

All I can say about Keith is, If you're not using him to create your marketing stuff... Then you're losing sales! Here's my bizcard he just finished. What do yall think? -
Mike, I hadn't even thought of offering dryer vent cleaning. That might be a fairly good 'extra' to offer. I'd think a minimum of $50 - $60 or more depending on the house. I've been doing it for years at my own house with a good strong blower and it seems to do a great job. Why would you need a special piece of equipment for this? What brand machine are you buying? -Todd-

I was just in Home Depot and they've got a Dewalt Pressure Washer...13 HP Honda GX engine and looks like a General Pump....3750 PSI/4GPM for $999.00. That's just $50 bucks more than the smaller unit from Northern. Also, recheck the reel you chose from Northern, I don't believe any hose comes with it, though they do show 50' advertised on the same page for additional money. Good luck and don't forget to do alot of research on this site before jumping into buying equipment.

Spoke with Bob from Pressure Tek recently about this same downsizing of the injector trick. According to him it only works with machines 5 gpm or higher. If you've got a smaller gpm machine, it may pay to give him a call to verify before investing in another injector. Todd

OK, here's one close to the tar on the handle idea, only better IMHO. A couple years ago a kid in a local neighborhood broke into one of my neighbors home and stole some jewelry and a .357 Magnum. The cops apparently knew this kid real well and a cop just happened to be driving by when he saw the kid walking across another neighbors yard carrying something. By the time the cop got turned around to go check it out, the kid was gone. Well, guess what? He just happened to dump his loot in my backyard and I was lucky enough to find it that night. I handed it over to the police and they returned it to the neighbors. Well, this kid kept coming by trying to get in my backyard to recover his loot. He had no idea that I had already found it and turned it in. So here's what I did. I wired my double gates together so he couldn't get to the back yard. And just in front of the gates I took a low sided 'cola type' box (about 2" sides, maybe 18" X 24") and filled it with a gallon of roofing cement that I had in my shed. I buried it just even with the dirt and covered it lightly with a couple handfuls of dirt and leaves. Well sure enough the kid returns and trys to get through the gates and SCHLOP, right into the tar. The cops were able to use that against him proving that he had no reason to be coming into my yard unless he knew something about the crime.

Go to a local weld shop and see if they will let you get some floor sweepings. This should be a mixture of metal (mostly steel/iron) and grinding wheel dust. This would DEFINATELY not be good for any engine. Dump it in the gas and let them have it. ALSO: If you don't want to stay up all night, rig yourself up a cheap 12VDC alarm system. Hook up a N/C (normally closed) micro-switch under the gas can (should be able to get one from the hardware store or Radio Shack). This gets hooked to a 12V battery and then to some kind of 12 V horn or siren. Cover the wire with dirt or something else to conceal it. As soon as they lift up the gas can, WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW. Grab your flashlight and baseball bat and go introduce yourself to them.

Here's a couple places you might want to investigate. Don't know if they will work or not. http://sunbrite.stores.yahoo.net/probrcbuilre.html http://www.xterior.com/html/chemicals_2.html

mineral spirits on asphalt
Grime Dawg replied to clean kentucky's question in Residential Pressure Washing
You could try 'Shout' or other Laundry Stain remover. Dollar General makes a good one for 1.50. Does a great job removing grease and oil from clothes. Have heard of some people using WD-40 to re-activate the oil and help bring it to the surface, then use something like Dawn or Shout to emulsify and rinse away. Test in small area first of course. -

Equipment exposed to rain...
Grime Dawg replied to mikew's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Hi All, I'm a newbie here and just signed up a few days ago. First I want to give a big THANK YOU to all who respond on this board. Wow,what a great place to get years of experience and save a ton of money and aggravation. I have learned a tremendous amount here and feel that every purchase I have made to get my business of the ground has been a smart one based on the brilliant minds on this board :) In the case of rust prevention, since nobody has mentioned it, I would definately check out http://www.por15.com . I'm currently getting my (open) trailer set up and did not want to deal with rust issues from rain or from chemicals. So after much research I came across this site, and these are the products I am using to hopefully PREVENT a lot of maintenance problems down the road. The Por15 rust preventative is very unique and has received a lot of praise from auto restorers. It bonds through a 'mechanical' bonding -Vs- a chemical bond like practically every other product on the market. Once applied to a properly prepared surface, moisture 'cannot' get to the metal...so therefore NO rust. It is also resistant to many chemicals including acids. Be prepared for sticker shock. It's $33.00 a quart! And it is very particular on how it is applied. Get the free PDF information and instruction sheets and read them CAREFULLY! The Por15 is a single component coating. But you MUST use a seperate container to paint from (unless you will use the entire can at one time) and you MUST make sure that the paint rim is clean otherwise when you seal the can, you will never get it open again. If you decide to order be sure that you understand what each of the 4 available colors are best used for, scan through the site and the information sheets to find the details. I didn't even know that there were different colors (types) until I got to the order page. Each color is a little different in it's qualities and use. Also, Por15 is used on BARE metal only (the rustier the better). Be sure to check out their other products too: A) The 'Hardnose' paint is a two component topcoat for items that are already painted and you don't want to strip it to bare metal. These paints are extremely tough and also resistant to chemicals, but not the same as applying Por15 directly to bare metal. B) The 'PC Glisten' is a CLEAR two-component paint that can be used over polished aluminum (like aluminum wheels, diamond plate, or anything you want a clear but tough coating on etc.). Also extremely tough...and costly. Be sure and get their 'Metal Ready' etch product if you are going to use the Por15. The preparation is key! I used F-18 in place of their 'Marine Clean' to clean grease and dirt off. I would think any alkaline cleaner would be fine for the initial cleaning, but the etch is different than stuff like Ospho, and it's best to use their 'system'. OK, so just in case you think I've covered 'everything" trust me I haven't. You'll need to spend some time reviewing all the information before you buy and use any of these products. And finally, just a heads up...these coatings take a full 4 days to harden completely. So you CANNOT use whatever you're coating for 4 days. Hopefully this info. will be of help to someone. My apologies for the novel, just wanted to pass along what I know. Todd Couch P.S. I know it may sound like an ad for Por15, but I'm not affiliated with them in any way except that I've given them HUGE chunks of my money in the past few weeks. OUCH!
