WalMart and KMart sell neoprene gloves for fishing - back in sporting goods. They are not elbow length, but they are inexpensive - about $9.

Thanks for the reminder. Just recently, I was wondering how long it had been and was going to look through all the posts to find out. Looks like I'm due soon! Money well spent.

Anyone ever have this problem with Gutter Shock?
John Orr replied to Camelot's question in Residential Pressure Washing
A little more scrubbing, but SG should work. The exception is when the gutters were not cleaned prior to painting and the dirt is showing through the paint, or was partially dissolved while painting and became part of the paint. -
Have I Been Duped
John Orr replied to PRESSURE PACKED's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
My guess is that you have the wrong tips. You should be using 8.5's and probably have 9.0's now. -

Water supply question
John Orr replied to Mountainaire's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
If you are running a direct drive pump, this may not work. In general, direct drive pumps will not draw water due to the speed at which the pump is turning. -
Where's my sample?!:lgtear:

I need a new leafblower - recommendations?
John Orr replied to PressurePros's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I just bought a Husquvarna backpack blower ($199 @ Lowes, thou also at Northern) and love it. -
If it is battery acid, Prosoco Ferrous Stain Remover should work. They have another product - can't recall the name - that will remove acid burn. Check their catalog, or talk to your local supplier.

Glad the gearbox is working as predicted. Have you checked your psi/gpm's?

$94?! Did they leave the 1 off?

tank plumbing question
John Orr replied to Curb Appeal's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
As I recall, some types unloaders need a little back-pressure in the bypass hose. If you set it up and have a problem building pressure, kink the hose a little to test. 3/4" may be the right choice. -
Chemical Tank for Downstreaming
John Orr replied to Buckeye's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Experience. I have done it both ways and have noticed no difference. I suppose on the molecular level, there may be a difference, but I don't know that it is measurable. -
BTW, boric acid (Borax laundry soap) is the active chem in TimBor and BoraCare - the two main brands used in mold/fungus/insect treatment of exposed wood (crawl spaces/basements) by pest control companies. Virtually non-toxic, safer than bleach to work with - no odor/fumes - and penetrates well into the wood. Permanent - unless exposed to water - so it would not work outside.

Chemical Tank for Downstreaming
John Orr replied to Buckeye's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Think about it...you will be using your machine to draw the chem. No gravity involved. You will draw the same regardless of the shape, or location of the port. (Having the port located at the base of your container will hasten the leaking of chem into your vehicle. IMO) Here's a possible solution: Select ANY container/tank and install a dip tube. Set it to draw from near the bottom and install a filter. Simply connect to the dip tube whenever you need to downstream. Here's another: Add about 2' of plastic pipe (3/8" I think) to your downstream hose. Add a filter to the end of the pipe. Having this setup allows you to draw from any container, without having the hose curling inside. -
buying new pump - need some advice
John Orr replied to Curb Appeal's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I'm pretty sure its a Comet FW 5530. Honda 13hp. Approx 2400 psi. This is on a portable cold water machine. BTW, it just barley fit on the cart, in fact, I had to do a little re-plumbing. I paid $300 plus shipping on eBay. Seller was Jerryk77. He has "stuff" listen currently, but I do not see a gear drive right now. -
buying new pump - need some advice
John Orr replied to Curb Appeal's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I replaced a 4000psi/4gpm direct drive pump with a 3000/5.5 gear drive. Actual pressure is lower, but gpm's is right and it cleans MUCH better. Added benefit is I can draw from my tank if need be. -
5.6 gpm gear drive. What is your opinion of these gear drive units?
John Orr replied to POWERMEN INC's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I bought a new Comet gear drive to replace a direct drive pump on my back-up 13hp portable. Ditto on the lower psi, rated gpm. Other than the extra weight, the only downside is something else needing an oil change. -
Extend-A-Wand - Buyer Beware
John Orr replied to Jack Kramer's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Given this thread's title, I would probably not have resurrected it. Maybe start a new one - with a more positive title. IMHO -
Interesting. As I read it, the info applies only to the interior use of bleach for mold remediation on porous surfaces. Since we are (usually) "re-mediating" mold on the exterior, non-porous, surfaces, I don't think this info will apply to most of us.

Its 8:30 am, what the heck is a deer doing trying to cross a divided highway? (Yeah, yeah...to get to the other side) And why is there the outline of a deer's leg on my wife's van's bumper, and deer hair on the windshield and side mirror? I'll take some pics tomorrow. No one (other than Bambi) hurt and Geico was quick. From the time of the accident, to a rental car in my drive, it was less than 2 hours.

The Simple Green is for the gutters only.

My mom, wife and daughter were all born on the 13th, my daughter on Friday the 13th. I am becoming a believer in karma. For years, we have kidded my brother-in-law about his hitting a deer about 20 years ago. In fact, my wife has taken to sending him "deer stuff"., including an animated deer head. So what happens? I hit a deer the other day with my wife's car! $4000 in damage. Ouch.

Usually, just a wipe on/rinse off the fronts and sometimes a little brushing for the undersides.
