diamond pads, diamond pads, diamond pads... a diamond pad will take the ruffest of corners and you can round them off or just smooth them out in a couple of mins at the most. very fast and the pads last for a long while.

If you are worried about all of that, just use the deep clean gel, it wont hurt your stone at all.

If it is a concrete tile, use a slite acid cleaner and dilute it. Vanatrol from prosoco or deep clean gel is an alkaline that is great and wont hurt the stone at all.

Shane that is a great question!!! Staining is a problem and when you learn how to remove the stains from the stones you will have a nice business just doing that. For each stain there is a remover: for a stain that has penatrated the stone olive oil, grease, kitchen stains the product you use will depend on how long the stain has been in the stone. for a stove area that has oil and grease that sat for days at a time you could use a politice and add something like metholine chloride or a degreasing stripper that is safe for the stone. If it is a potted plant that put the stain or mark on the stone a simple tooth brush and an alkaline or acid stripper( depending on the make up of the stone) will work fine. Also there are sealers for pavers that wont leave any finish, you wont know they are ther until spills bead up and roll of the stone. Keep them commin guys, great question!! Im going to turn you guys into stone works, you just watch!!

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!! no stone talk?!?!?!?! Once you learn how to work on stone everything else will be just work!!! Stone Work: Clean and Seal, Polish, Hone, Fills, Scratch Removal, Etch Removal, Stripping etc...Nobody has ever done any of this?!?!?!

OK guys, i just figured out what all of the HD products are (hd80 and so on) they are wood strippers... at least i think that is what they are. Am i on the right track here? I would like to know more about these products please. If you could please tell me what the ph is in these products what color it is what it smells like and so on...

AHHHHHHHHHHHH... That makes sense. Ok, so you dont use the wood stripper on stone then, or are you guys. I am just trying to get a feel for what else is being used in the field.

Are any of you guys doing stone? If not have you ever thought about getting into it? I am thinking about putting on stone seminars on a regular basis and was wondering how many people out there are in to it. Im not asking anyone to attend, but am just trying to gather info on the majority of the guys out there in the field doing any kind of janitorial work. Thanks for your help, Lou

Everyone there has to use a floor machine, at least two different marble polishes and diamond pads. We clean, and seal the floor too. You WILL be more comfortable with the floor machine and polishing floors.

Sorry, i dont know how i missed that in your last post. i just saw the word sealer and i must have went on auto pilot from there... What area is the 805 area code? I could show you how to polish concrete as well as densify it so that it is as hard as granite and as polishable as granite too. I would like for you to come to my class too.

I dont have a stone restoration company now... i used to resurface stone and now i sell the products... it is very rare that a carpet cleaner can do stone so even though they say they can they 99% of the time cant( they call cleaning and sealing "restoration" hahahaha) About concrete, i love polishing that too!! what kind of rig are you using and what diamonds are you using? that is a new passion of mine, it is very fun to do, and the out come is great!!!

Rod, You would be surprised how fast those stones need to be re-done!! when an installer comes in and puts the tiles down, he: A) scratches the marble with his boots, knee pads, and or tools B) sets an un-even tile that needs to be leveled (now you are talking about $10-$15 per sq ft) c) stains the stone with grout, putty, and or soil This is only what happens in the first week of or even the first day of having stone!!! can you imagine all of the work that needs to be done after a year or two?!?!?! Some of these customers want you to come in twice or more a year... at $3-$5 per sq ft just for a clean and seal...you do the math on that one.

I think that it will help with commercial jobs to have a contractors... but i dont think that you need one. The amount of stone has more than trippled in the last 5 years!!! there is a huge need for stone guys!!! the funny thing is most guys that do stone are not even that good... so to get some quality guys out there would be a great thing. Just the other day, i had to show one of my customers how to do a simple re-surface on a floor. Craig is right on the money, if you dont know what you are doing, you should sub it out. The thing that kills me is the money that carpet cleaners and other janitorial guys are leaving on the table when they leave a customers house that has stone!!! most of those guys are getting at the most 50cents a sq ft that isnt even enough money to make me get up in the morning... my stone guys are getting anywhere from 3-9 ($3 for a clean and seal, and the $9 for some scratch repair and polish) and up per sq ft!!! forget the rest of the work out there lets do stone!! I dont know... i love stone its my passion (in case you havent noticed) but it just seems to me that alot of the people that are doing jobs for their customers are taking the cents and leaving the dollers behind, it just doesnt add up. Do i need to take a nap or does this make sense

What chemicals are you using that you have to wait till the grout is completely dry... im waiting till they are dry to the touch to apply and having no problem what so ever.

Hey Jon, I have one green polished concrete floor and a brown one, staining is great!!! As for classes i am working on putting one together for stone and concrete. I was a restoration tech now i sell a couple of the lines that i used to use. What kind of work are most of you doing right now? As for the pics, i am working on them right now, im just about as smart as a box of tacks when it comes to computers. I just did a sample of a customer of a concrete floor with glass chips in it. it came out looking like granite when i was done. If the pics come out ill post them, or try to anyway. Lou

Hey Jon, Is that quarry tile product a Lithofin product? Also guys, what is the ph of the HD-61 and the HD-80 products? I am interested. Your chemicals should be doing all of the work in your T&G work guys, extractors are just tools to suck up the water faster than a wet vac... Lou

Hey Jim, Here are some facts that are good to know when it comes to concrete. I have been in the stone restoration industry for about 8 years, you would be surprised what can be done. 1)If your customer is too cheap to pay for your service do you really want to be working for that person, they tend to be hard to collect from in general. 2)Most of the guys here have truck mounts that are worth thousands and can only clean a floor, most of you already have swing machines too, all you need is a set of diamonds that pay for themselves after the first couple of uses. 3)Polishing is perfect for driveways(makes the driveway harder so that oil and other stains are easier to clean) 4)You can polish any concrete surface, what kind of concrete are you refering to. I think one of the problems is that alot of people just dont know all of the things that are possible with concrete. I have worked with granite, marble,travertine,limestone,terrazzo, pavers, brick and all of the other natural and man made stones you can think of!! I have polished concrete floors in my house, i love them they are the best. Lou

Hello There, I am new to this place and thought i would just put in my thoughts(for what it is worth) Coatings are overrated... if you really want to set yourself aside from the competitors, get into concrete polishing!! The coatings will wear off due to heavy traffic and such, the polishing of concrete will not only look better but last years longer and climate is not even an issue. Nothing wrong with coatings if that is what your customer wants, but give them the option, of a polish. when they see what can be done 99% of them will want the polish!!!
