What if somebody has the same name? How do you prevent that?

Doug...WOW it's that easy huh? Dang, California sucks :) Hey I appreciate your quick response... We're from Ashland. Right on WV and OH border.

Hey guys and gals, I'm new to the pressure washing biz, well, sorta. I have had a Hood cleaning company for about 2 years now and it's still going strong, but I've decided to branch off a little into more pressure washing...anyways, my question is "here where I live, just about every house is stucco'd, and there are brand new houses with a brown strip around them at the bottom. I would like to offer a service of cleaning that for people, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Will it come off? What is it? What do I need to do? Hopefully you can see what I'm talking about in these pictures.. Thanks in advance.... Anthony

UPDATE Well, I got to try the acid on the "iron" ring and it worked like a charm :) I ended up using muriatic acid on it and it came right off. Thanks guys for all your help.

the most comfortable trigger gun
HotShot replied to clean kentucky's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
When I went down and worked with Alan..(ONE TOUGH PRESSURE) he had the straight trigger gun. Sorry I don't know what it called, but anyway, he had that with a 5 foot wand and would just lay the trigger on his shoulder letting gravity do the work. Really good settup and far more comfortable than the regular trigger guns. -
Wood fence experiment
HotShot replied to daryl's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Looking at that 3rd picture I feel like a peeping Tom or something trying to see what's in your back yard :) Looks pretty nice, I have the same fence, only probably older and worse looking. It's been baking in the California sun for at least 9 years......I think it's beyond repair, but your pics give me hope.... -
Matt...I haven't had a chance to call Tom yet, but I was re-reading your post and saw that the con-strip is hydrochloric acid based. Would muriatic acid work? Isn't is hydrochloric acid? Just wondering because muriatic is readily available just about anywhere.

That's cool. We out here on the west coast just had the annual laughlin run. I didn't get to go this year but it's pretty amazing. Some of those bikes are just unbelievable. Those dirt bikers are bad to the bone. If you've never been to a motorcross race......GO....it is so much fun. Thanks for sharing Jeff...:)

Whats' Your Favorite Mix for Concrete Driveway Cleaning???
HotShot replied to fireandrain's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Hey Alan, I was wondering where you were....I use a pump up for my caustic. I was planning on putting SuperFlash in my chemical tank on my trailer. It holds 25 gallons, then just putting acid in the pump up. I never saw you put any bleach on anything and your stuff turned out beautiful.... -
Whats' Your Favorite Mix for Concrete Driveway Cleaning???
HotShot replied to fireandrain's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Scott...yeah, it's a little warm :) See that's what I don't get. How do you put on the bleach or Ox? Do you have like 10 different pump up sprayers or what? I know that it's not good to mix Sodium Hydroxide and any acid. If you set there and rinse out the pump up everytime wouldn't it take forever? Sorry I'm such an idiot, but could you just explain exactly how to go about the proceedure? -
Whats' Your Favorite Mix for Concrete Driveway Cleaning???
HotShot replied to fireandrain's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Hey guys.... I'm getting ready to clean a Firestone Tires parking lot (they are a full service auto shop). I have a lots of caustic because I use it for cleaning hoods, should I prespray with that being there is a lot of grease and things like that? What else should I use? Oh yeah, let me mention that there is no mold or anything like that out here where I live and right now it's about 103 degrees outside so whatever I pre-spray with is going to dry in a matter of seconds. What do you guys think? -
thanks Larry for the reply..... He basically wanted it sprayed down, all of the leaky grease off of the outside. I used some degreaser and with the hot water it came right off. It was really easy. Nothing too extravigant, just a simple squirt of degreaser, rinse off of everything you can see and that's it. Easy money. He said that other contractors are always asking him where to get their stuff washed also. He is an aquaintance of mine and he said that he will definetly get me some more business.

Morgan, here is what I did with your bid sheet. Just changed some stuff, tell me what you think... pw_bidsheet.doc

I see the exact opposite :) Don't mean to be getting all religious on you but Isaiah 45: 18 says that God created this planet to be inhabited. We are very special.....to Him.

What is the most effective way to get jobs?
HotShot replied to mdspowerwashing's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I am member of the Chamber of Commerce...they let me put flyers in the monthly newsletters for free. Don't know if it's like that everywhere, but just a thought. -
I quit smoking & I'm patting myself on the back!

HotShot replied to PLD's question in The Club House
good job Philip, congrats! I'm trying to help my dad stop, but I don't think the prodding and making fun of him is working too well :) What was your method of quitting? He tried the patches once and would smoke with one of those stupid patches on his arm. Not good...... -
I have a 3000 psi, 5 gpm hot water unit. I will be doing a lot of driveways, drive-thrus, dumpster areas and sidewalks. I need to get my surface cleaner soon, and I've read most of the threads on here about them. My question is what benefits do the wheeled cleaners have over the floaters? And which, in your guys' experience would work best in my situation? I was looking at the "Big Guy" and the original floater. From all of the past posts it looked like everybody counted the caster models out. Why? I know it's kind of a lot of questions, but your help is appreciated...

selling it out of your front driveway? How could he be smart enough to think of such a sceme, then do something so stupid to ruin it....? I don't understand these people, if they would only use their brains for something constructive.......

Surface Cleaner: Wheels vs. Floater
HotShot replied to HotShot's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Chris....thanks for the advice, experienced first hand knowledge is always appreciated :) I will probably get a hover type eventually, but it will probably be the recovery type for inside jobs. -

Well, got my Steel Eagle 24" ordered....can't wait to get it and have Alan show me how to use it :) -
ok that makes sense, I shouldn't have a problem with a 24". It looks like the Steel Eagle is a favorite around here, and the Landa. I think I'll start with the S.E. and see how it goes.

I know what you mean about the diesel. My father-in-law has a Chebby with the Duramax, he put one of the "Banks" packages on it and that thing will smoke just about anything that pulls up beside it. It's awesome. I've been reading for I don't know how long about the 4.5L in the F-150. I don't understand why they don't do it, the guys at Ford would make a lot of friends :) As I understand it, they are putting it in like delivery trucks and things like that. As for the Titan....yeah, I got a 6 inch lift on there, the tires are 325/65/18's...they stand 35" tall. The gas mileage sure is lousy, but I guess we gotta make sacrifices :)

Hi Jon, I use to go on fordtrucks.com a lot until I got kicked off over a misunderstanding. They let me back on, but it ticked me off, so I didn't go back...long story.... I liked to go on f150online.com and still do sometimes, but now since I got my new Titan, I go on Titantalk.com. I really like f150online.com, there are some good, knowledgable guys in there. It's kinda funny to go in there now, owning a Titan. I hear these guys say that they blew the doors off of some Titan and so on, and I just laugh. Unless they have some serious mods, there AINT NO WAY that the Ford would stay in the same zip code as the Titan. I'm saying that as a Ford lover myself. I would buy another Ford truck in a heartbeat, but a couple weeks ago, I tried both out and I thought that the Titan was more bang for the buck overall.
