  1. New Season around the corner

Same, phones been ringing well. Might have to start hiring a bit earlier than anticipated! No complaints either.
  2. New Season around the corner

Any of you guys done graffiti removal in the winter? I experimented with that a bit last year and got some fair results. I would say around -5C with hot product and hot pw you can clean tags. That and doing some indoor pws and kitchen tile grease cleanings. That's what kept us working last winter. This winter its been more of the same, just some more exterior pw jobs as well.
  3. New Season around the corner

With this warm winter, I've been getting calls for work on the warm days which has been nice. Otherwise, looking back at the calendar last year, end of March is when we started picking up. I think it will probably start a little sooner this year.
  4. 36" & Larger Surface Cleaners

    Meades.
  5. 36" & Larger Surface Cleaners

Hey John, Okay I have added you with my personal account. Just FYI I rarely use FB, so any messages are only checked a couple times a month.
  6. 36" & Larger Surface Cleaners

Thanks for reposting that John, was an interesting read. Are there any videos of that 72" beast in action? Would be interesting to see. If you are doing a large area, what is the best system for surface heads? We currently use a Whisper Wash Big Guy as our largest surface cleaner. I have seen images of reclaim system trailers that can tow multiple surface heads. Does anyone sell a modular surface cleaner, where you can add on heads to increase your coverage? Assuming you are proportionally increasing the flow/pressure as well. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  7. Hey All, I'm new here. I look forward to getting to know everyone and helping provide my input where I can. Trying to spend some time everyday to go through and learn as much as I can. I'm excited. I was wondering if I could get some input on a current problem in the meantime. I've got a customer who looks to have the seal partially stripped from their composite decking. See pictures below. What could I do to get them back to a clean slate? Thanks, Andrew
  8. Thanks for the reply. Also just want to say thanks to you and Beth for creating this community and wealth of knowledge. And to all the contributors. Was reading through this post of cold weather hints and point #2 made me realize we're missing the bypass line when running antifreeze. We just use a funnel and pour until we see antifreeze come out of the whip. Now I'll have to make sure to put a gun or a valve on to get it into the bypass. That's one headache I now won't have. I've got limited experience as a contract cleaner so far (5 years, but really only started learning in the last 2), but I am a techy guy so hopefully that's where I can help provide some knowledge. I'll start a new topic in the next little while and see if there is any interest.
  9. Just an update, the customer talked with the installer, they did not apply any sort of seal. He also talked with Veranda: the product that was used (3-4 year old composite decking) when it is manufactured, during the process develops this film on the surface, they do not apply anything additionally when it is being made. Apparently with newer composite decking products this is not the case, they do apply something. This film has likely been stripped away by pressure washing where the brute force of the water has removed the film. The markings in the picture agree with that. Options: 1. I will keep researching into what that film might be composed of, so can potentially find the right product. Get the product and remove the rest chemically. 2. Otherwise, remove the rest of the film physically. Control the pressure and find the minimum psi and temperature that will remove the film, use a surface head to get an even result. It will wear on the areas that already have the film removed so should only be a last resort.
  10. Thanks for the reply Rod. The product is Veranda brand composite decking from Home Depot. I asked the customer, and he did not believe there was any sealer applied when he had the deck built ~3-4 years ago. I will get the customer to check and see if on the invoice he might have some info if there was a sealer used. I will also contact Veranda and see if the product already had something on it coming from the factory. Might composite decking already have a seal on it when new? No discussion on colour change or reapplying a sealer yet. I do not have much experience in applying sealer, but am learning through as I go through this forum. There is interest in yearly maintenance for the deck to keep it looking clean. I imagine leaving a bare composite will dirty and weather much faster then if it is sealed. Thanks again.
  11. Hey guys, New here so just saying hi. We're hopefully not done yet. It was 14C (57F) here yesterday which has been great. We're going to try and offer some services this winter that will allow us to use the equipment and get by until March. I'm thinking interior pressure washing/industrial unit cleaning, grout cleaning, winter graffiti removal (with varying results), and salt removal closer to springtime. I just learned about ice dam removal, that might be something to look into. Rod, thanks for posting pictures of your setup. Could you explain the last picture a bit more? Is that the space heater you use to keep the temperature from freezing? Do you just run an extension from the house? Thanks all!
  12. Looking forward to learning!
