I would like some opinions on some airless sprayers, hvlp, or any other spray gun you guys prefer for spraying decks. I don't really want to invest in a deckster at the moment because I don't do enough wood to justify for it. I have used wagner which are junk and I have been thinking about buying an HVLP from Harbor Freight. It's 80.00 and has an attached air compressor on it. Has anyone used one of these before? Harborfreight.com it's under air tools section and item# is 44677 All professional and non-professional opinions will be greatly appreciated. Doug Baker Baker's Pressure Washing 174 Rock Hill Ln. algae on deck
clean kentucky replied to LITTLE GUYS's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
rod and beth, I was wondering if you use HD-80 diluted on a greyed out algae deck, than what do you use EFC-38 for? Maybe where there is a lot of blooming flowers? If I can jusgt use the HD-80 all the time instead of EFC-38 than I will because they both cost the same and I will use less of the HD-80. Right? Doug Baker Baker's Pressure Washing 270-268-1694 -
wood tux question
clean kentucky posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I am putting some wood tux on a deck for a customer. I just have to try it out. It's the first time with WTW. The deck already has an old stain on it that I will have to strip. Using HD-80! Citralic or wood britener from sun brite is what I will neutrilize it with! The deck is PT Pine and is in full sun all day. If I strip it correctly, neutrilize, and spray with a HVLP how long should it look good? (warm honey gold) Will it still look great after 2 years? Also has anyone used severe strip from sun brite supply (is it good)? Doug Baker Baker's Pressure Washing 270-268-1694 -

sounds good, I'll give him a call and try it out. Do you know if it holds up pretty good in wet weather. In Kentucky there is a lot of mold and mlidew. We have mainly Pt Pine. Doug Baker Baker's Pressure Washing 270-268-1694 -

what Cabot's products do you like? Is the semi-solid oil based a good product in your opinion? Thanks a lot for your input! Doug Baker Baker's Pressure Washing 270-268-1694 -
wood tux question
clean kentucky replied to clean kentucky's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I will be putting it on Pt pine. Have you applied to this before? How do you tint the wtw, Sun brite does not have anything available for this? I was thinking about the cabot's SPF also, but have never used it either. Do you like this product or have you had much exsperience with it. I know it has not been out very long though! rich, do you like the HD-80 or the other sun brite strippers? Ken, what downfalls from your experience are you speaking of with the wtw? Thanks, guys!! Doug Baker Baker's Pressure Washing 270-268-1694 -
Do you 10% your solution or 20% with your downstreamer. Would any of the housewashes from rowlettes or sun brite work as your house wash, with the bleach and wax. Do you mix in 5 gallon bucket and directly downstream from there. Sorry to ask so many questions. I 'm just wanting to try this out and see if I can clean as fast with this solution as I can running up ladders or if the cleaner works better than mine. deck cleaning help
clean kentucky posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Need some help! I just bought some efc-38, citralic, hd-80 Just tried the efc38 on my deck with lots of mold and was not impressed(it has never had stain on it). Did not come out near as good as some pics on here. I have one to do tomorrow and one next week. I am tempted to use bleach, but there is a lot of vegetation around deck. I put it on full strength with a shur-flo and let it sit for 15 min. green mold did not come all the way off. The deck I am doing tomorrow has a semi. Transparent on it that is 6 or 7 years old. Has green mold all over it. Need to strip, brighten , and stain. Can some of you professionals help me out with how to use these chemicals and the process to get the job done. Or a bleah process, I am scared to use bleach becUSE OF THE VEGETATION. Any help will be appreciated. Doug Baker Baker's Pressure Washing 270-268-1694 -
deck cleaning help
clean kentucky replied to clean kentucky's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
First of all, I want to thank you guys for this site. It is awsome and I never knew anything like this existed. Thanks!!! I want to do a good job on everything I do and I would rather ask seemingly dumb questions to others on this forum and look stupid than to look stupid in front of a customer. I have a lot of learning to do. I ordered from sun brite because I have read a lot in the last month and really value your opinion. I was wondering if I could add some pure sodium per. To the efc-38 to make it stretch and save money, but not sacrifice the quality. Seems to me if I could just use 3 oz. of HD-80 instead of 8 oz. of efc-38 than I shoukld just use the hd-80 all the time and save money because they cost the same. right? Thanks again!! What kind of tips are you talking about, could you direct me to someone that can tell me. what cleaner are you using that you put 12% in. Is bleach the key to cleaning the vinyl without getting real close to it. Doug Baker Baker's Pressure Washing 270-268-1694

deck cleaning help
clean kentucky replied to clean kentucky's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
After it dried, it turned out pretty good. I did try the bleach on a spot that I did not clean yet and it took the mold off quicker than the efc-38. The efc-38 will work though because it looked great after it dried. The deck is fifteen years old (probably pt pine, what is cca treated) Could I mix anything with the efc-38 to help it along and be more cost effective. Seems like it would be expensive to use it alone full strength. I have pure sodium percarbonate and some TSP also. Could I mix these with it, if so what ratio. Thanks!! -

I downstream and have never x-jetted, would like to buy one and see if they are as good as everyone raves about. I downstream using a sodium hydroxide cleaner from a local chemical supplier and climb extension ladders. I know you guys are probably laughing from the way I hear you talk about x-jetting. Can I add bleach to my cleaner and x-jet, clean 2 story with a 4 foot wand without getting on the ladder? Doug Baker Baker's Pressure Washing 270-268-1694

Got Carpal Tunnel?
clean kentucky replied to PRESSURE PACKED's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I was just going off of what the hyrotek dealer told me about the machine having two bypasses, guess he did'nt know what he was talking about. I do like the k7 though. I only upstream alkaline truck wash! Do you downstream your second step in a two step. Have never tried a x-jet, but sounds like a lot of work(I might love it though if I tried it) My buddy has been upstreaming truck wash for 12 years. Plenty of his general pumps have lasted 2 years before needing rebuild (that is using the pumps 30-50 hrs. a week also). Doug Baker Baker's Pressure Washing 270-268-1694 -
Got Carpal Tunnel?
clean kentucky replied to PRESSURE PACKED's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I just bought a hydrotek a month ago. Has K7 3500psi, 21 hp vanguard, and general pump. Excellent machine. It has two bypasses on it to keep it cool. one that goes from the pump to the unloader and one goes from the unloader to my bulk tank on the trailer. Yes you can hook k7 to bulk tank, but the onlly problem is if you are dong fleets and using high pressure soap a lot than soapy water will circulate back into your supply tank. If you do that, just stop it up for the meantime, just don't leave your machine running in by-pass for a long time. Doug Baker "Baker's pressure Washing" Central Kentucky 270-268-1694 -

hi guys and gals, Name is Doug, Name of business is Baker's pressure washing. Been washing for about 3 years, mainly residential until this year. Bought a very nice hydrotek and pieced a mobile unit together. Can't wait to go at it full time. I have never been on any forum before, but had to join this one. Hear people talk about signatures (don't know what it is or how to get one) Is there anything else I need to do. You guys have been very very very very oh yea! very helpful to me and my company. Thanks for all the help/ I've only been reading for about 3 weeks. I am especially interested in woodcare, I just ordered some HD80, citralic, brightener, and EFC 38. Hope they work good. Have three decks to do this week. Have also found the sikkens and cabot's dealers around my area. No more recommending cwf or whatever else home depot or lowe's carries. I have to throw in a question or two. Will the EFC 38 strip old semi-trans stains? What is the best chems. to use to clean and prep a deck that has never been sealed before(really gray and lots of mold)? Thanks a lot for all the help! Baker's pressure Washing 270-268-1694 -
