Price
garcii2 replied to Russell Cissell's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Mike, I would have to agree with you on that one. If somebody pays for cheap labor, they are taking a risk of loosing their money and a poor job. If someone pays good money on a contractor that has a good reputation, then they may loose a little money, but they recieved quality work. If you offer cheap labor to a company, and they referr your business, then you are stuck what price. -
I know that I posted this in other websites, and some of you have replied and I am just looking at different opinions...Here is the last fence that I did and I am still new at this. I gotta learn somehow!!! Let me know what you think???? The first picture i missed a small spot but i later came back and brushed it. I guess I got too excited and took the picture before it was finished.

Where to find a Decker?
garcii2 replied to Deck Guy's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Can you use Pump Tec Decker 5'er for bleach?? -
I try to do the best job that I possibly can, but I am having a minor issue. Lately I have been having jobs where the fence is right up against the grass and makes it impossible for me to put something underneith the fence to protect from spraying stain on the grass. Does anybody have a solution for this?? I have been telling them that the stain will get on the grass and after mowing it a couple of times, the grass will grow back. Let me know if there is any solutions for this. I just don't want to look bad.

stain on grass
garcii2 replied to garcii2's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Those are great ideas!!! :lgjump: I may just combine both, staple the burlap sack material to a cardboard so that it would trap the stain like a sponge. Last job, my customer mowed the grass but did not trim the edges and there was dog poop all over the yard, like walking thru a mine!!!:lgbugeyes somehow i mannaged to finish the job without problems...Thanks for the replys!!!! -

new fence
garcii2 replied to garcii2's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Thanks, I normally use a shurflo on most of my jobs, this was a small job 50 x6 = 300 sq feet fence. I had no choice but to use a roller because on the other side of the fence, the neighbors had toys, swings and different junk close to the fence and I did not want to take a chance of overspraying and getting sealer on them. It took 30 minuite to clean and 30 -40 minuites to stain. Israel -
new fence
garcii2 replied to garcii2's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Sorry... I took this picture the day before I stained the fence. The fence was cleaned with bleach, diswashing detergent, and water. At the time I did not have a power washer and I used a water hose with a strong Jet stream. -

It looks good, how long did it take you to clean and stain? -
2006 Sealer Poll: Which are you using this year?
garcii2 replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I am going to use Ready Seal and I have seen Baker's Gray Away product work too But since I am a part timer I can't get Baker's because of the distance. Ethan, what about the locals since I am here in dfw area? would the price be the same? -
Ready Seal Colors
garcii2 replied to bforbis's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I have never done any decks before, but on fences I know that if you stain light brown (ready seal) on a cedar fence vs a spruce, it would look darker. Correct me if I am worng, but since I never done decks before, would it be the same?
