moldy basement
charlie replied to JBenson's topic in Mold Remediation, Radon Testing & Home Inspection
Bleach and water. Then apply kilz on the wall to help control the mold from growing back. Personally I wouldn't do it if you don't the proper insurance. You might want to sub this out to a company that does mold rememadation. My 4 cents. Charlie -
One way to motivate your wife is say if I accomplish this with your help we can do something like take a vacation, go to a lavish rest. , etc. Then have a reward for yourself only. Since I have been in business. I have been able to take my family to Disney and on a cruise. As for my reward I have gone to 2 world series games. And just last friday I bought a 2001 mustang convertible. This might help getting your wife involved. As for getting organized you have gotten great advice. Good luck Charlie

Russell It sure would be nice if you offered a measuring cup for the products. Charlie -
It is hard to believe that you caused the problem unless you stepped on the valley and your foot made a hole in it. The valley is where the 2 roofs join together. This happened to me once. Charlie

Crime & Trauma Scene Cleanup Seminar - April 10-12, Kansas City, MO
charlie replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Industry News & Events
It is kind of wild that you brought this up. I just found out that some one commited suicide by my storage sheds. They didn't have to call me the fire dept. cleaned it up. Charlie By the way the storage area is in a good part of town -
Are you in High School or College? Do you have insurance? Charlie

I would never suggest that a homeowner do his own pest control, to many safety concerns in reguarding using an insecticide. Make a deal with a pest control service and you could get alot more business. If the pest control company says he just sprays the house don't go with them. Only use a pest control company that will do the crack and crevice treatment as I stated before. Besides owning a wood restoration since 1994, I also have been in the pest control business also for 18 years. Good Luck

To effectively controll spiders you must use a micro encapsulted product that doesn't wash away after it rains. House must be cleaned first and treat the crack and crevices with an insecticide. In Wi. you must be a licensed pest control operator in order to use a such product. Charlie

I was doing a show the BBB was there with a booth. Booth wasn't staffed half the time. And when they were there they were to busy flirting with the other vendors. My question is who can we report for there poor business practice. Currently I am NARI member. Charlie

Defy?
charlie replied to Paver saver's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Rod My guess that the reason why Defy didn't hold up well on the Southern side is that 2 coats weren't applied or the product didn't penetrate in the wood do to poor preperation from the other company that did it previously. Did you apply the epoxy or regular treatment on it. Charlie -
Use HD80 to remove Defy no problem. Charlie

Rod I didn't think Defy made a blue stain. Charlie -
No contracts you are asking for trouble. Make up one for you own protection. Are you insured? Charlie
