  1. The X-Jet debate

I never hve to move my hand cart, or untangle hoses. Did you see the picture of the guy brushing the gutters?? HE moves my stuff for me. He's young and he does what I tell him, or he gets blasted with the x-jet and he gets to walk home! LOL. But seriously, I'm only 34 and he's 24, it's not very diffiucult moving it around. I guess it's just a matter of me trying something new. Are you suing a rollover type system, or duall lance?
  2. losing $$$$

I probably losta copule hundred dollars. No where to the tune of thousands. But I'm positive I will pick up work from this job as well as it being a friend. Plus here brother (the cop) does a lot of favors for me!!
  3. Unreal

Tom, Call me. I have enough house wash stuff, I can give you a little "taste" this way you can see how the stuff works. And I'm convinced you'll buy it after you use it. Plus I'll show you how to do residential work. I have a house and deck I'm doing late this week, or beginning of next week. Take advantage, I learned a lot from the bulletin boards, but there wasn't anyone around here doing it when I started who could have showed me!!
  4. losing $$$$

here is the finished product. 2 coats of Benjamin Moore Mahogany (solid) P.S. that is OLD stain on the vinyl, I got a lot of it off, but it's probably been there for 10 years or more!
  5. The X-Jet debate

I downstream my truck soap, and I just can't see myself doing it for house washing. Plus, with the hand cart and 15 gallons of house wash mix, I can see when I'm going to run out of mix. Also, how high can you shoot while downstreaming (I as because I use a dual wand to truck wash and It doesn't go but 10 ft. or so)?
  6. F13 vs Gutter Shock

I've only used Gutter Shock in my short time powerwashing. The ONLY time I couldn't get a gutter clean was an 11 year old gutter with painted finish. It had never been cleaned and I got about 85% off. The homeowner was saw another customer of mine's house, who had newer gutters and figured his would look the same way.. And I have never had a paint removal problem. Also, I used to x-jet it up on the gutter the brush it. but if they are with in reach of the brush, I just brush it on about a 70/30 mix (70 water)
  7. Am I using the surface cleaner the right way ?

You're not going to be stepping on toes, Don't look at it that way, Getting quality 'competition' is what makes our pricing valuable. Also the ability to work together is also an added bonus. There are many Hacks out there that can drive us crazy, but that's something we'll talk about. I actually have the Landa water jet that has a wand attached to the machine so I can rinse after I do a few passes with the surface cleaner. Oh and Mike W. I was getting out, then I got back in, now I don't know what I'll do! Getting out of this business is like trying to quit drinking... It's hard. And you guys keep pulling me back in! Maybe I'll Teach Tom everything I know. (it'll only take about 15 minutes!!)
  8. losing $$$$

I just had a great post that I lost because I'm a little drunk! so here it goes again. I posted this because I thought it was a COOL project, and It has become a learning process. And no my competecnay isn't in question because I told my friend his deck was a nightmare and drastyic measures may be involved. But I did this 'flip' for a few reasons 1. because I wanted to see what it would take to do such a job, in case I had to resort to it in the future, and 2, because I couldn't just "cover and run" even knowing that they would have been fine with that aproach. I don't really care that I'm losing money, I wanted to make sure my integrity wasn't compromised and that I was learning throughout this process. Sometimes the best learning comes at your own expense, because I won't make that mistake twice!!
  9. here's the kids!

They defenitley keep me on my toes. Kevin turned 4 on july 29th and Ella is 16 months.
  10. First Cedar Job

looks good, but let's get some better pics! LOL.
  11. The X-Jet debate

here is the money maker in action!! it's actually the m-5 and it's in total fan mode here. Some overspray, but it's easy enough to control when doing other stuff. Plus it was a little breazy that day. second/third pic is my "other" money maker... my helper cleaning the gutters w/ gutter shock. Clean gutters really impress the homeowner! These were really nasty.
  12. Am I using the surface cleaner the right way ?

Tom, If you need Help or questions answered, Call me. I'm "THE KING" of Orange County Powerwashing (or at least that's what my friends say! LOL). I'm right over here in Goshen. And I've been doing this stuff for 4 years. I'm actually going to buy a box truck today (I hope) in Warwick
  13. here's the kids!

Yeah, but you knowhow the wives are. They talk, We listen... Plus we just took them to Hershey Park and Dutch Wonderland in the spring. My son is an animal, he loves the rides. My daughter went on a few rides, and Heather doesn't do rides. So until mydaughter can ride more than a few rides, we'll have to wait (orders from the big boss!)
  14. here's the kids!

I don't have photo shop (i think) so I did this in paint?? Looks ghetto, like some of my decks I've been getting this year! LOL
  15. here's the kids!

will do, but how do i switch out pictures on a post?
  16. here's the kids!

I actually had an offer of a time share the week after thanksgiving. $600 for the week just outside Disney. But the boss thinks Ella is too young still. But It'll be sonner than ya' know and I'll be knocking on your door with a few cold ones. These kids grow up FAST!
  17. Latest Deck

the deck looks awesome. as well as the front porch. How long did it take you to complete? do you run 1 machine or two at something like this?
  18. Oh Boy I need help Part 2

go buy a screen, let it soak in house wash mix while you and the homeowner watch. after, rinse it with about 1200 psi. there won't be ANY rips in the screen. My helper (part-time helper, full-time knucklehead) has open up the wand with the x-jet on straight stream on a first floor window MORE than once and there was no damage. Actually his ears got damaged when I gave him a scream bath! there is NO Way that house wash mix did that to the screens. those things were shot way before you showed up. did you get paid yet?
  19. stone walk disaster

old fashion muscle? since you already got a few spots up, try a pry bar and a maul (sledge hammer) just start working from the spot that has exposed the walkway already. I wouldn't even think of power washing something like this, maybe after I got all the mortar of. But it's hard to tell with out even seeing the job. p.s. how big is the area you're talking about?
  20. Employee Manual

i haven't read that much since college, and I'm talking about ALL of college
  21. When are you picking it up?? you'll probably drive right past my house on the way (well not exactly!)
  22. mineral spirits on asphalt

before you do anything, try baking soda. The wife used it on some oil stains on my clothes, and some stains on our coach. It pulled it right out. I'm not sure if it will work on asphalt. and when someone is having a seizure, call 911! LOL
  23. Idiot me always forgets the camera, so no before pics. The fence was ne, and the deck had Cabots Clear solutions redwood that failed miserably. I stripped the pool deck and used Dark Red Ready Seal. Fence got Natural Cedar. I may bring this to the pool company and try and advertise with them, they have a huge store and do a LOT of pools each year.
  24. floor and spindles. I'll be putting down another coat in the fall before they close the pool. It's already taking a beating, the kids are in the pool every day!
