  1. Two More shots. This is my son Kevin, he'll be 4 on Friday. He keeps me on my toes. It took me 3 hours to power wash the deck, and 5 for the fence. It then took about 15 hours to the stain, and yes we did the fence and deck by hand. Still haven't bought a sprayer!
  2. Size of your trailer

John, I am using a 7x12 enclosed wells cargo trailer. I have a 275 gallon tank, double stack Hannay reels, and a Landa mghp (i can't remember the new model) And I have a few 15-20 gallon drums with my chems in it. as well as all my brushes, wands, extra 3/4' filler hose, 50' of 3" fire hose, and some 5 gallon buckets of certain chems and empty ones for other stuff. and ladder rack on top. It's a decent "starter" size, but I'm bulging at the seems. it's also great because it fits in a lot of driveways. but it doesn't enable me to carry a lot of water for truck washing. So I'm buying a box truck. And eventually I want to get a van to be my residential rig. I'll put a 100 gallon float tank in it, with my cold machine. But for now I'm going to be using the Box truck. Oh, the only draw back with the box truck fro me will be my stain work. I'll be using the box truck when I go staining because I'm selling my truck also. (gotta get rid of some debt). I have pics of it on Steve's Web site from when I first put it together. It's a lot dirtier now!
  3. I gotta ask, what kind of money did you get for that? (pm me if you don't want to post it). I wouldn't even know where to start with that kind of pricing LOL. Also, where's Walnutport and Havertown? I know Philly is 2 hours from me, and the Poconos is 45min to an hour... If your close Ken, I would come down and give ya' a hand. Are you gonna use WTW? i'd like to see that in action. P.s. I haven't heard back from the armonk job. told him it would be my first Ipe deck, may have scared him off??
  4. I have a 6 g/min. machine and was thinking of teeing it off for truck washing and some big deck jobs. this way my helper could help (lol). Is it a simple fitting, or is there more to it??
  5. That's Great work, By you and the builder/homeowner!
  6. Beth, I may be doing IPE (if all goes well) What color did you use, and what was your prep. (you may know that I use Steve's chems).
  7. First Time Home Buying Financing

Michael, I applaude your foresight to purchase while still in school. To this day I regret not doing it while I attended school. I went to schoool in an area where house were very cheap and could have bought a house with a little help from Dad, and had roommates help pay the rent and bills. But that's all behind me. My firt thing would be to look for a 2 family, or a house with an apt. that could bring in income. if you're in an area with out of state students, they will probably pay a decent amount of rent if they are going to live off campus. So don't settle for the "norm" if you plan on renting out a room or apt. even if it's not the best house in town, you will be able to build sweat equity by fixing it up. But blah blah blah,,, Sonymae and fannyMae are good first time home buyer programs, and ther are also loans from the govt. that loan you tyhe mopney to do repairs it's called a 203k i think. (that's the one I used) remember these programs may have a slightly higher interest rate, but have less down payment and other benefits. You are defenitley on the right track. call me if you need help with this stuff, I've went through it about 3 years ago
  8. 7x12 enclosed wells cargo trailer. If it were 16' It would be even better. I have the upgraded 3/4'' plywood that I marine painted, and nothing penetrates that stuff. I also rhino lined the front (outside) of the trailer because it was taking a beating from all the stone lots I go in. Inside is a NEW (just got it this year because the last machine broke down) Landa (16hp vanguard) 6gpm at 3500psi thermostated hot water machine. It's great to have the thermostat, but I'm still getting used to the 6gpm out put. I have a 275 gallon water tank, hannay reels, and tons of 'stuff' in the trailer. It not big enough anymore! I also have a 13hp 4gpm cold machine in my pick up that I use on decks when the water supply isn't a concern I'm looking at a box truck that's 7x14. which I will probably make into my truck washing rig. But in the beginning it will be my 'everything rig' if I buy it. I'm probably going to sell the pick up and trailer to help lower my overhead.
  9. I would love to talk about it, but I've tried to rent a soda blaster, and noone up here has heard of it. Will cob or shell (peanut/walnut) blasting remove paint without harming the wood, concrete or brick that is painted??
  10. How about Decks?? I was just wondering if it was a simple t valve, or as Ron says an entire new unloader. I would still like to run at 6gpm on most projects, but if I could split off for a deck (without a new unloader) it may be worth the part...
  11. 3 years ago I used RS on my PT front porch and it still looks pretty good. So I started using RS all the time. It looks greta on all my PT that I did last year and the yaer before, but it's not looking too hot on one of my Cedar jobs. my main concern is a deck I'm re-staining this year, it was just cedar flooring, and it looked great last spring when I did it, but it faded pretty good. It is sun drenched, and has no shade cover. the homeowner also do a lot ofgpartying on the thing. He wasn't concerned at all that it needed to be re-done, but I'm worried because I just did a cedar pool deck this year and don't want to have to go back next year...
  12. Thanks Rick and John, Both Cedar jobs are 'old' cedar, the pool deck I cleaned and prepped 2 years ago and the hoemowner put cabots on it. This year they had me do the entire job (strip and stain/ they picked DR). The other deck was a strip off of Behr, then a staining of RS. But I also think RS is too thin with an airless, so I may be contacting Tom Vogel about the decker... does it come dc, or is it all battery?
  13. Thanks Everett, and John. The color was Dark Red, and I know the wood was dry enough, but it didn't hold as well as I thought it would. Maybe I'll ask Pierce next time I order some. My customer wasn't at all upset about recoating it, but I guess I'm worried about my newest customer I just did with DR on Cedar. She already has asked for touch ups on the 'lighter' spots. I explained how each piece of wood is different, and that semi-trans stain doesn't give a uniform look. I'm also worried because it's around a pool deck. But I totally agree with the maintenance plan, but I gues I was alittle shocked about having to do it on cedar and not on PT yet??? I used SW waterborne on a deck this year because I couldn't get a dry day and the people had been waiting a while, but I'm concerned how well that will hold up in the North East climate also. p.s. do you guys spray any RS and if so are you using an airless or a decker (deckster) I'm looking into buying a sprayer, but if I use other stains, I want to be able to spray them.
