  1. I used them on a few projects, and found them very good. Problem is the price is high and they don't really have too many "kits." I also dealt directly with them and they had very good technical assistance. They even followed up with me a few weeks after I had gotten my first and second shipment of chems.

Tom Defrancesco has used some of there stuff also, and he has had great success with their masonary and truck wash stuff

  2. Just got back from visiting family. If anybody is out that way and powerwashing or doing landscaping, they should take advantage of the Rostarver/belle vernon area.

quick story why... My Cousin has a paver driveway and she was getting it re-sanded while I was there. Came out in the morning and there where 2 "rough" looking characters with a 1989 chevy s-10, and 5 bags of sand in the back. 1 guy is brooming the sand around, while the other is watching (2 guys, 1 broom!!). after a spending the day in Pittsburgh I get back to my cousin's and notice the driveway looks like CRAP. Weeds still in the driveway, spots that had NO sand, and the sand they used was too course. I told my cousin to get her money back or tell them to correct the problem. The kicker is when they told her thay could power wash her house... Not in my lifetime was I gonna let that happen!

  3. Do they have garages? If so get them to let you use water out of there? There must be some place to tap into.

No garages, they are condo/apartment type buildings... the other 18 buildings I am bidding on have outside water...

spoke to a few companies today... 6,000 gallons of water will cost 235-250$ and to leave the tank, it will cost 65-75$ a day. probably will be the option I go with...

Tons of work, decks alone will be nearly 27k... without building washes and without figuring in cost of stain. I'm looking at about 10,500 sq. feet of deck...

  4. I just looked at 15 buildings for a management company... they are 2 1/2 stories (vinyl siding) and 6 buildings have 5 decks that measure 6x12 (30 total). the other 9 buildings have decks that are 6x12 (double decker) and each bulding has three of these decks... (so 27 total decks)....

They want buildings cleaned, decks cleaned and stained, and some repair work on the decks... here's the kicker... NO WATER AT ANY OF THESE BUILDINGS!!!

If it were a 1 day job, It wouldn't be a problem to get a water truck, but how am I gonna get that much water over a period of 10 or 14 days??

    Any suggestions would be great...

My idea was to rent a big tank and have water delivered each day I was going to work... but that may take multiple fills each day??

  5. Hello everyone,

I'm going to be bidding on a subdivision of 80 single level homes. They want the gutters and window cleaning done three times a year. My question is, how much of a discount is reasonable, but without underbidding? Is there a formula that anyone likes to use? I've been in business for quite somtime, but have never bid on a job this large. Thanks for your advice!

Are you washing the houses, or just doing the gutters and windows? and who is paying? the homeowners themselves, or the property management company?

  6. The osborne brush can be ran at higher speeds. You need to go slower with the defurring pads. I start out slow with the defurring pads until it wears a little bit and then turn it up a little more. You don't want to turn it up to 5 or 6. Keep it between 2-4 and you should be good. You pretty much just adjust it to whatever your comfortable with.

    Gracias Amigo!!

  7. So let me get this straight... you haven't done anything yet?? Hopefully this is from some previous contractor, because someone ****ed up that siding... sorry, had a few beers tonight!!!!

I just re-read the post... break out the whooping stick, cause you're about to hit a HOME RUN!!!!if those swirls are deep. then u need to sand, then strip, defurr, stain and collect a BIG paycheck!!!

I love coming upon some other dicks mistake... it makes my bank account swell!!!

  8. Ryan sorry for getting back so late I sealed the deal for the deck its a wood patio floor not concrete.Total feet is 2360 how do you recommend that this job get stone to apply the stain? what type of stain are you using I let the customer go pick out their own material. They ussually use behr from home chepo. I want to start buying my own product and marking it up what do you recommend for decks. Oh by the way ryan no rails or spindals on this deck 2400 cash. Is that reasonable?

hell no, 2400 is TOO low in my opinion, unless that doesn't include stain price. you should be getting about 2.00$ a sq/ft. for stripping and staining as a STARTING figure. I wouldn't go any lower than that... If I'm bidding that, I'm going About 4k at the low end (couple of dollar discount because it's all flat work..)

And you could probably save some material money and use stain pads and mop the Ready Seal on... and get between the boars with a brush. After that, you could invest in a decker (my next purchase!!)

  9. Do you have friends or family near your targeted market?? Bite the cost and a few hours, and go do a free-o house wash for a friend or relative who live in a decent size neighborhood... make sure people see you doing it, and make sure the house is actually dirty. This get people talking and helps get your name out there. This is how I did my "experimenting" and this is how I got my first few jobs. after that business cards and advertising will start to kick in.

The other way I get work is find painters that work in your area, most of them don't like to do powerwashing. I have a guy that gives me at least 1 job a week. He owns 2 powerwashers and hasn't touched themin about 1 1/2 years since I did a deck for him.
