  1. I have a General TS 2021 pump that is leaking on the underside of the pump. From reading the trouble shooting guide I gather that it is more than likely the packing or plungers. I just wanted to get some feedback about if you agree that is what the problem is and where I would go about finding the best prices on repair kits to fix the problem. Also is there any special tools needed to replace the packing or plungers. Thanks for the input. I hope its nothing major.
  2. Leaking Pump

I believe it is coming from where the two meet. I guess it is possible that it could be leaking out of a different area and just dripping off the bottom. I can not really tell I will look at it closer tomorrow. Everything seems to be working fine still, but I figure its not really or its just a matter of time until it gets worse.
  3. Honest debate Iraq

I just thought I would add my 2 cents on unions and minimum wage. I absolutely think unions are a farce. If I ever heard of my employees wanting to unionize, I would fire them all before they had the chance. Unions fight for themselves and for lazy workers. There is no place in todays workplace for a union. I am surprised that some people on here as business owners would support unions. I bet if your employees unioized you would change your tune a bit. I think in a capitalistic society, I should be able to hire who I want and pay what I want. For arguements sake, if I want to pay $2 an hour I should have that right. Now, I think I pay very well and treat those employees I have more than fairly. I do not think you could run a good business by paying $2 an hour. But, I have no sympathy for those people that whine about minimum wage and they should be paid more. Why? Quit crying and work harder and you will work yourself into more money. Or go get another job. There are plenty of them out there. Anyway, I have enjoyed reading the post on here and respect everyones opinion. Debating unions and minimum wage just gets me going sometimes.
  4. Who has Worker's Comp?

I agree Celeste. We are constantly educating our residential customers. I think rfitz is off by saying you can not pay for WC and be competitive. True a lot of residential do not know or care, most commercial accounts we have care and the WC has easily been worth the $5000 a year we pay.
  5. Who has Worker's Comp?

Celeste, it is about the same rate jump here in Alabama. We have chosen to include it though.
  6. Who has Worker's Comp?

I am not sure if you can temporarily change your policy or not. I would check with your provider.
  7. Who has Worker's Comp?

Actually, I am covered by my WC policy. It does cost extra for the owner to be covered. You can exempt yourself as the owner if you choose to, but being that my regular health insurance does not cover work related injuries I chose not to exempt myself from coverage.
  8. Who has Worker's Comp?

What I don't understand why is it not a benefit to you. If you get yourself covered and you are injured on the job, I would think that would be a benefit to you. Also you say people don't care, but I think if you explain to them what it means to be protected by a workmans comp policy that you will find most do care. I explain to every residential customer that they need to ask anyone that works on their property to produce GL and WC certificates and why it is important for them. I would also not call anyone is not legit, its your lively hood and if you are happy where you are at thats important and good for you. I just think the doors it opens for you are well worth the money.
