Thank you Beth. But still no go. I'm not sure what my password is and I run out of guesses. They need to send me my password. Or, should I regester another time?

I get it delivered to my shop. I order a pallet (48 - 5 gallon) at a time so I don't run out and it is worth the vendors while. I've not asked if they will sell in smaller amounts. I pay $9.50 per 5 and have a $6 deposit on each container. hope this helps.

Which sealers do you use? How many partial pails do you have?
Tim McCulla replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Paul B., What does solids content tell you? I've used all the products that you listed the percentanges of solids. As a contractor applying the material, what type of insight to quality does that give you? In my mind I've rated all the products in that you listed and it in no way carolates to the "solids content". Not being a wise guy - I really want to know. -
High Rise Window Cleaning ?????
Tim McCulla replied to commonwealth's topic in Window & Gutter Cleaning
Commonwealth, I think you are suffering from "the grass is greener" syndrom. Look how much that guy is making for just spreading some soap and water then removing it. I can tell you, I do both window cleaning and power washing - they both require a minimum skill set and dedication to perfect the craft. Both Frenchy and Ryan make great points and will not repeat. I would just add that if you feel that you would like to get involved - get the basic equipment (strip washer, squeggee, surgical towels, chamios, razors, cleaners, etc.) and practice at comfortable ground level (I'm sure you have friends and family that wouldn't mind clean windows). If you need help getting a supplier e-mail me I can tell you who we use, but one basic set up should be available at a good Janitorial supply Co. Best yet you are missing an oportunity of a life time in Dallas. The PWNA & the IWCA (international Window Cleaners Association) are having a joint convention. Good Luck, Tim -
Whitco Plant destroyed in Fire.
Tim McCulla replied to One Tough Pressure's question in The Club House
It is always sad to see people lossing jobs or being out of work. It hits closer to home when it is our industry. Are they the company that advertised in the Cleaner Times? Did they sell coils? I hope they get back on their feet soon. -
Deck Restoration Estimate (Volume)
Tim McCulla replied to One Call Power Wash's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Hey One Call you will let us know the answer to this winning bid? I was thinking the gross would be around 27k with material for cleaning and sealing at around 8.5k. please do tell, but wait a little bit to see what others would bid - make it fun. I'll take it a step further (I welcome feedback) $.25 soap, acid and sealer $.32 for labor (try to keep labor at 40% or less -???) $.04 for insurance (workers comp & Gen Liablity) $.08 fuel and wear on equipment (10%) $.12 for fixed overhead (15%) $.08 for profit (10%) OOPS! I'm going out of business - my cost adds up to $.89 - when I originally viewed the survey my price would have been $.80 - can I adjust that bid. LOL -
It does look like a steal - I hope he didn't. Anybody missing a surface cleaner?

I mean - Soap on, Soap off. I mix a house wash with bleach, apply to as much area that will allow dwell time without drying (you get a "feel" for this) and rinse. I do offer a spray on wax when done but I do not push (if I saw the value - I would sell it). Stop watching the video's - go out and clean some stuff. Just use common sense. Do you have any family or friends that could appreciate a FREE cleaning? Good luck and be safe!

Hey Gun Man, A standard double hung window (lifts up and down) is considered (1) one window, in other words the entire unit or opening or both panes is counted as one. When you have a tripple track storm or storm inserts (Pella style) you count that as two. If you are really serious about starting I would look to work with someonewho does window cleaning and /or attend the Feb. convention in Dallas. The International Window Cleaners Association (IWCA) is co-hosting, They even have windows there (for a contest) that people can show you how to clean. I started my company window cleaning over 15 years ago - it is still a major portion of our business (55%), but Pressure washing is far more profitable. It is great at geting your foot in the door in residential work and is a huge repeat business. If you would like to talk more about it email me or post specific questions.

Killz Primer
Tim McCulla replied to Deckmasters's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
The guys from Zinzer would love your post - they make Killz (also Wolman). It would make a great testamonial on how the product holds on. Getting to your question. Have you tried hot water? If it is a latex product (it sounds like it is if the Noah product is not working), the hot water could totally spend the latex in the primer. What I do is get it really hot so it expands all that it can - remove what I can, then go back after it dries to sand. Often after you do this this the latex does not go back to its origanal form - it bubbles away from wood and is hard and britle. This might seem real basic but have you talked to the customer? Would she be interested in a solid bodied deck Stain? Or allowing the newly exposed primer to weather a few months, then striping again? Good luck, Tim McCulla
