Old weathered w. red cedar dock help

Recommended Posts

I built a dock out of wester red cedar about 7 years ago. I scrubbed it with deck brite and then applied Wolmans FP when it was new. I have not done anything to this poor dock since then but am planning to stain or seal it this summer. The dock is fine structurally and I really don't see any evidence of the old Wolmans. The wood is just nice and gray. This dock is in Wisconsin and is exposed for about 4 months of the year and then stacked onshore ond tarped for the rest of the time.

I was just going to scrub the dock with a deck cleaner product and then apply Cabot semi-trans stain or Australian timer oil.

I then realized that there are probably experts that could point me to a better method/product for this project.

My dock is probably the nicest on our beach road and everyone loves it. Though the weathered gray look is not bad, I am really excited to get it back to a newer cedar color and protect it for a long life.
