shurflo pump problem!

Recommended Posts

I have an almost new shurflo pump (100psi at 1.6 gpm). When I first got it I just mixed the chemical and dropped the draw end in the cleaner. The pump would run til the hose was filled up then shutoff just like it is suppose to. It ran then only when I pressed the trigger jet handle to release the chemical. Worked great up until the last roof job. Now here is my problem. I do the above pump stops when line is full. I test spray all seems to be good. Now when I start spraying instead of the pump continuing to run as I spray the pump goes to off on off on even while I am still hold the spray gun trigger down. The spray spits and sputters down to nothing. Anyone have a solution or thought?

You could try adjusting the pressure switch on the cap of the pump.Just give it a few turns clockwise while holding the triggerCheck all of your screws to make sure you are not sucking air somewhere.

Try a larger orifice bozzle. I had a cone nozzle that did the same thing when I tried to spray a fine pattern - when I opened the nozzle to a larger diameter, the problem resolved.

I had the same thing. My pump would pulsate when I used too small of a nozzle. Bigger nozzle and it worked fine.

Ditto. That's happens when a pump with a pressure switch ( a "demand" pump) senses the increased line pressure caused by the orifice. If you want to use a smaller orifice, get a bypass pump. It has an internal unloader and no pressure switch.

my next shurflo will be this type......mess with the pressure switch too much and it will get wrecked.....I would like to be able to dial the cone tip to a small opening at times but then the pulsating begins....

but to answer the question, the prior posts have already done that..
