reducing roller pump

Question

I am using a roller pump for roof cleaning and was wondering how far you can reduce the hose on the discharge side of the pump. It's port is 3/4".I have been using 5/8" hose. How much more can it be reduced and how does this effect the pumps pressure? I would like to reduce it down to 3/8" due to the weight and storage benefits. Thank you very much!

Does yours have a pressure regulator? Most of the roller pump setups that are sold as a complete unit (engine included) will have one. I would think you could adjust it to open further if so, to reduce the added pressure created by the reduction in hose volume. If yours doesn't they're available at Tractor Supply or most other farm/ag stores.
