Mountain View 14 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 How many of you do pump rebuilds (change packing, etc) and how many take equipment to a service place?
Larry B 55 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Do it yourself, let the repair companies make money off of the homeowners. That is if it is within your capabilities. Packing is pretty straightforward.
Mountain View 14 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Thanks Larry. I'm pretty good mechanically (rebuilt motor cycle engines and done a couple of valve jobs on my cars, along with all the other stuff). P.S. I wish I lived where you do. Been in that area a couple of times.
John Orr 206 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 It all depends on a) you're abilities, b) your time and c) you're money. The last pump I had rebuilt cost about $130, half of which was labor.
