0 Ron G. 14 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 Wow Doug, that deck sure has been neglected. Has it been sealed previously? What chems for the cleaning? Nice job by the way!
0 seymore 90 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 Nice job Doug big difference! What did you use to clean the deck? The decking looks like there is some mildew under all that grey/green crud? It's hard to tell from the pic if it's some shadows from the trees.I know i've stripped decks and and under the crud was still some mildew. So i'll spray a mixture of bleach and rinse then use some oxalic then rinse again. 0 JEAPAINT 14 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 Thanks Ron, It had some sealer left on the verticals. Not sure what it was. May have been a clear or possibly a cedar color stain??? What ever it was it melted right off with HD-80. Followed up with citralic to neutralize and brighten. Going back tomorrow if the weather is good to do some sanding and de-fur some spots. Also have to paint 2 doors. Then I have to wait for the WTW to be delivered. Hopefully should be here tomorrow or Friday. Doug
0 Proclean 14 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 WTW has it's place. We did this Cambara deck today with WTW. Cleaned and pressure washed this morning. Stained after lunch. Then laughed at the clouds and showers. Customer thought the finish looked like a piece of furniture. Wanted to go with Sikkens, but explained to him how much better WTW is. The deck was 45 miles from our location. WTW makes the 1 day deck possible. You could have stained this deck the same day. But if close by, follow up with stain the next day. This is what makes WTW a great product to have on hand. Paul Dinos Pro Clean Specialists, Inc.
0 JEAPAINT 14 Report post Posted May 18, 2006 Thanks Shane, I'll check it tomorrow and if there is some mildew on there I'll hit it with a mild bleach. When the customer came home her jaw dropped when she saw the deck. :) Doug
