CCHSNC 14 Report post Posted August 14, 2003 does anyone know if this stuff has a shelf life?
Brian Keating 14 Report post Posted August 14, 2003 I know the self-life of unopened containers is indefinite but as for opened containers I'm not sure. If I had to guess I would say it's pretty long. The chemical reaction doesn't happen until you add water. So, as long as you keep it dry is should last quit a long time. After mixed with water it is only good for about 7-8 hours.
Aplus 525 Report post Posted August 16, 2003 Actually, 7-8 hours is way too long. 1-2 hours at best is realistic. Sodium Percarbonate is actually best used immediately. Mix only what you need for each job. The chemical reaction and the resulting "fizzing" provides the cleaning power. Mixing with warm water works best, you get better dilution.
