Staining paddles

Has anyone ever used a staining paddle to stain the slats on a deck? How did you like it? Do they save any time?

They worked pretty good after they get soaked with stain so it doesn't snag on the rough cedar 2x2's.I spray mostly all my railings where possible which is the fastest way.

Thanks-- Do they clean up like you would clean brushes? How many uses can you get out of them before they are no good?

The stain paddles I use are so cheap ($3.00, but still pretty good quality), I save time and money by just throwing them away or if I am going to another stain job, wrap them up in plastic and reuse.
