hoosierwindowtek 14 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 I'm not doing any gutter cleaning this time of year, but just curious;How do you avoid the dripping chemicals from getting on stuff when cleaning gutters?For example, when cleaning gutters, I often get drips of chemicals and the white colored oxidation on windows, sidewalks, and worst of all, garage doors. Sometimes it makes a horrible mess, and I spend as much time cleaning the drips as I do cleaning the gutters themselves.Especially when using the x-jet is this a problem, and I don't know how to use it without this problem.Thanks for the input, I'm new here and somewhat new to pressure washing too. The best way to avoid the drips <ahem> is to upsell the project up front to include windows and garage doors, trim...basically the entire house. If the customer simply wants the gutters cleaned and nothing else, you can try putting a smaller quantity on the gutters. Use just enough to "get the job done" then rinse adequately. For this, you'll put away the Xjet and replace your applicator with a pump up sprayer, then use your pressure washer to rinse copiously. Pre-rinse the areas of concern (windows, etc.) to ensure that anything that hits the surface will be immediately diluted, then continue to rinse frequently. Spray gutters, scrub, and rinse no more than about 6 feet at a time (that's worked for me pretty well). If you simply must use the Xjet to get the chems up high, simply douse the house with water first, apply the chems, and rinse the house immediately while the chems work.
