  1. Modern carburetors no longer have a mixture screw...EPA rules. Sounds like you've got some crud in the main jet. Take the bolt out of the bottom of the bowl (shut the gas off first). The jet is located straight up in the tube the bolt came out of. Welding tip cleaners work well for reaming the gunk out, but be careful, you don't want to remove any brass from the jet. That will oversize it, and it will run rich.

One other remote possibility is a cracked insulator. That;s the black piece between the carb and the cylinder head. While the engine is running rough, spray some carburetor cleaner in that area. If there's a crack, the engine will pick up carb cleaner instead of air, and smooth out.

What he said... Shut the fuel off take a 10mm socket and drop the bowl, protecting the rubber gasket at the top. Clean the bowl out and rather than ream it out take carb cleaner and shoot it straight up the jet, then tun the fuel on and let it flow for a minute. It loosens the junk in the jet and the high flow because the bowl is removed allows the garbage in the line to flow straight out as well. One other thing to do is take the 3 bolts off the tank take it off and clean the screen at the bottom of it also flush all the rust out of the tank. Take a few bolts and screws and put them in the tank and shake the hell out of it to knock all the garbage off the inside of the tank then open it up flush it out and let it dry out then reassemble.

  2. I'm interested with the belt drive gas HydroTek SS Series. Does any body have that unit?

I will do kitchen exhaust cleaning and house exterior washing. There is 7 models, which one is the most useful? And where can I get the best price?

    Please help me about it.

    Thank you so much.

We have 2 of the Hydrotek SS40004VG units 4 at /4000PSI

They are excellent units and are well engineered and have high quality from one end to the other. We only do KEC so I will not say if they are any good for house washing. BTW the insurance needed for KEC work is NOT the same as what you use for house washing or any other pressure washing. A general laibility policy that is used for KEC work will be denied by any carrier, might want to get a policy that is correct before you start doing that work.

  3. Doug, I will squeeze another 2 years from this one and it goes into retirement. It will have 3000-4000 hours on it then.

    Alexy,

the screen is 50% of the fuel pump - it's not little. Put a drip tray under fuel pump. Using Allen wrench take out four bolts on the front of the fuel pump (where the label is), pull the cover off (watch the gasket) and the screen will be right there. I soaked it in caustic degreaser and then sprayed hot water from the inside out. Dried with air compressor. Put it back, turn it on, open bleed out valve and wait for steady stream, close it and that's it.

    Awesome,

Thank you I have 2 that came off dead machines so I can play without effecting a working machine.

Funny this popped up last night guys called said the burner was going on and off and the machine had pressure issues. I asked if the flow was good and they were not sure. Sure enought hey took the water filter off the intake line and it was full of what looked like ciffe grounds but were iron chunks from the water lines we hook up to. Put it back together and ran like a champ.

  4. Hey NewGuy it looks like you have a real uphill battle to get to where you want to go in this Industry....but..if your determined enough You'll get there. Your on the right track looking for a used Belt driven Powerwasher. There the best to have because there setup to have the pump turn around 1460 RPM's. The direct drive machines are the worst for a contractor because most small engines are running @3600 RPM's and in turn because the pump is hooked to the drive shaft it to will be going 3600 RPM's and they never last at that speed.

That Powerwasher your looking at on craigs list your $500 offer is about right. He might meet you in the middle @$600. Since you have no working machine right now I would consider buying that PW for no more then $600 because you need to be up and running. Make sure obviously it runs smooth and the pump has consistent pressure.

Also do searches here to read about how to do what ever type projects your looking to take on. Also read about Powerwashing machines here as well.

Lastly what's your story? If it's to personal I completely understand you staying mum on the question. The only reason I'm asking is maybe we can also help you with some more direction. A few months ago a guy came on here who ask alot of questions and then told a little about himself. His timing was right and we were able to direct him over to EnviroSpec - Your Authority on High-Pressure Cleaning where the owner John Allison and his wife Shelly had a program to get vets started called Washin for Warriors- with a free machine and some other items. Probably totaled over $5000 of equipment/chemicals this man received. Today he's out there scratching out a living for himself and his family.... So you never know.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

Espec no longer makes sells or services any pressure washers.

  5. I don't see how your lease has anything to do with maintenance. Maybe you expected more than was written in the lease? Or you wanted more than what was on a true lease?

I have two leases for my two skid units. I couldn't ask for better terms and for 36 months I have much more equipment than I could have had for the cash I had on hand. Plus having that cash slowed me to pay off my truck early, buy a new trailer with cash, and be able to expand in ways I wouldn't have been able to otherwise.

I think its the best decision I ever made. Im willing to bet you'll find as many that are happy as the opposite.

Dont just settle for the terms your local dealer gives you. There are plenty of leasing companies nationwide to compare. Doing one that works for you.

As for tax benefits, they will be different in canada than here. But congress can change any tax benefit at any time, so you can't use that as the only consideration.

I t was written into the lease that all routine maintinance to include oil changes, burner ignition and filters were covered. EVERY time it was taken in for service per hour meter or a issue ( seals failed on pump 2 years into the lease ) the issue was contested, that inluded the manufacturer's reccomended first tune up when it was new.

Bottom line for straight pressure washer in this market there are some phenominal deals on used equipment that will cut your costs by thousands that are far better than a lease. Not to mention that you will also need specific insurance that will cover the cost of the lease ( not just the property) over the life of the lease.

  6. anyone ever tried leasing pressure cleaner and/or equipment? If so from who and what was the experience like?

With out a doubt leasing pressure washing equipment was THE WORST BUISNESS DECISION I EVER MADE.

Leased a pressure washer from Direct Capital Leasing. Up front costs are usually close to a down payment you could put on straight financing equipment. The write off you get from the lease financing is disappearing under the new tax rules so there is no more benifit there. The repair costs on the equipment were allways contested as they would say any damage was from some form of imagined abuse we did to the equipment. At the end unless it is written in as a specific price buy out the lease company will want close to new/used price for the equipment. We finished our lease almost 2 years ago and we are STILL getting bills for the taxes on the equipment since they did not notify our municipality it had been taken back.

My advice look for used equipment or if there is a large piece of equipment yuou need rent it and build the price into the job.

  7. a family member was a property manager for a H.O.A. they put the complex out to bid. A contractor from Conn put in a proposal to use pressure was the buildings that are vinyl siding the contractor said he was going to use Steri-fab to kill the mold and mildew and was going to give a one year no re growth warranty . does any one have experience or ever heard of this?

    I would start looking here:

    STERIFAB HOME

  8. Sorry, was that last statement politically incorrect....... so what....... I dont care.

    Thieves sux.

Doesn't matter if it is politically incorrect since it is statisticly true.

    Chris,

I wouldn't waste your time dealing with the shop they are pulling your chain. Make them replace your machine either by thier own accord or take them to court.

  9. Alexy, What is "garage keepers liability"? Is this insurance that the shop should have had/might have or is this something that you take someone to court over?

    Thanks.

Yes it is what is required to have if you take possesion of others property to repair or otherwise move it. ( Same policy is what covers valets when they park your car) If the company says they do not cover losses like that they are not operating with the correct insurance in Texas or almost any other state. I would tell them in writing they were responsible for your equipment and you need to be made whole RIGHT NOW. If they have any past occurences of theft there and nothing has changed since then they are even more liable. Give them ONE opportunity to make it right ... if they balk or say we need to think about it. Get the name of the buisness they are operating under and go find a GOOD attourney. You have a slam dunk case if they are int he buisness of repairing pressure washers and one walks off from them.

  10. Hello Guys, I just found out that my Stainless Steel Allison Ironhorse Hot Water Skid that was at the repair shop was stolen 2 weeks ago and they did not tell me. I just found out when I went there to pick it up.

Please be on the lookout here in Texas if you see a Stainless Steel hot water skid for sale or on ebay.

I will find pictures and post them later when I calm down, just very frustrated right now.

    Thanks for any help.

Did this shop know it was missing before you went to pick it up and just decided to tell you now? If so that is BS and like the above poster said file a claim for the machine's replacement and lost wages on thier insurance. The specific thing you want is called garage keepers liability.

  11. The only reasons the dollar ( and our economy) has not imploded to the core of the earth is

1 the fact that the only way we can ever pay back any of our debt to the countries we owe money to is to allow the dollar to have value to buy thier stuff ( china).

2 oil is only allowed to be bought on the world market with US dollars making it the reserve currency for the entire world. ( remember in the late 80's when dollars were in short supply, gas was a dollar a gallon) Greenspan then flooded the market with dollars and oil shot up to 120 a barrell. This will come to a end very soon. you can now buy oil with the Chineese Yuan, Rubles or the euro.
