  1. I've got to find pictures (and post them) of my last Spitfire. I had run out of gas on the highway, parked it in the breakdown lane and started walking. About 2 or 3 minutes into my walk I hear the police cranking down the highway chasing a drunk driver. I guess you know the rest of the story. He ran right over my car and launched himself in the air, rolling his car 6 or 7 times. Crazy thing was about 2 months afterwards I get a letter from his lawyer, He's suing me! He hurt his arm in the accident. Claims if my car wasn't there he wouldn't have been injured. Went to court twice and was thrown out both times.
  2. Sodium Precarb

Can you tell me who that is? I can't find a distributor in my area.
  3. I just saw Viton pump sprayers at Home Depot for 15 dollars going under the name Bleach Sprayer or something like that,. One gallon, all plastic. Just thought I'd pass that along to everyone.
  4. You guys did a beautiful job! the customer must be so happy.
  5. It said brushing on a stain but it looked more like they were removing it. Could you brush on a stain like that?
  6. Welcome New Members! ..Introduce yourself

It takes a while, I'm sure everyone here will agree. Once in a while I get a call from the ad I have in the Yellow Pages but everything else is referals from other customers. I'm 100 percent serious when I tell you that each day I come home there are 2 or 3 new jobs waiting on my answering machine. You'll have this problem too, just give it a little time. While you are waiting, learn as much as you can on this site by reading past posts. It will save you lots of time by finding the right and fastest way to do a job and save you lots of money by learning what type of equipment to buy and what not to buy. Enjoy the reading.

Hi Nick. How are things out in the midwest?
  8. Mixing Sodium Hydroxide

The sodium hydroxide I purchased is 25 percent liquid (if that helps to answer my mixing question). I didn't think to buy beads, didn't even think to ask. Do you think 75 dollars is an average price to pay for 5 gallons?
  9. Don't forget to takes pictures and point out the cracks and little holes at the bottom of most vinyl sided houses. They are caused (mostly) from the lawnmower kicking out tiny rocks that hit the siding.
  10. Citric acid and my deck sprayer were hard at work yesterday.
  11. Normally I would precarb it but it just didn't look that bad. Some of the corners had a little green but aside from that it looked in pretty good condition.
  12. Not much, just a weak solution of citric acid with a 20 minute dwell and a 700 psi rinse. The citric does a beautiful job of cleaning the wood, makes me look like I know what I'm doing.
  13. Mixing Sodium Hydroxide

Thanks again Marco. Anyone else know what a safe mixture for liquid sodium hydroxide would be?
  14. Be afraid, be very afraid. I always keep a camera in my truck and take pictures of every house, building, anything I work on. Two reasons for this: 1) sometimes before and after pictures are impressive when selling your next job. 2) Most improtantly take pictures of everything including bushes, gutters, driveway, everything. If they accuse you of any damage you have proof that it already existed. This has saved me twice in the past. Once for a roof job and the other for bushes. Both times the HO didn't seem like the kind of person that would do this type of thing. Take pictures and trust nobody. 95 percent of the time you will delete them at the end of the season. It's the other 5 percent of the time it'll save your butt.
  15. Mixing Sodium Hydroxide

Thanks Marco. What do you recommend for a weak mixing ratio? I'm just looking to clean oil spots in the driveway, the lawnmower and other garage type things. My neighbor would like his Bobcat cleaned as well, it gets pretty greasy. Does it actually turn the grease into something soap-like?

A post from Chris from Apple Roofing: Apple Roof Cleaning Hero Member Posts: 1203 Sodium Hypochlorite And TSP/Borax Source « on: February 03, 2007, 10:19:04 PM » Source for TSP and Sodium Hypochlorite -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Over the years, I have had many people I taught roof cleaning to have problems finding not only TSP, but Sodium Hypochlorite locally. Florida Chemical Supply here In Tampa is where we buy our TSP and Borax. Their phone number is 800 940 CHEM begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 800 940 CHEM end_of_the_skype_highlighting or 813 623 1274 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 813 623 1274 end_of_the_skype_highlighting www.floridachemicalsupply.com I was in there last week, and asked if they sold Sodium Hypochlorite ? They do! They have it in 55 gallon drums, and I THINK it was like 1.25 per gallon ? They will ship it to you, if you can not find it locally! Hope this helps those with problems finding stuff locally ? They also have degreasers, acids, and many local pressure washers buy stuff from them. Chris
  17. Small roof job out in Marshfield, Massachusetts. Zip 02050 Just a little ranch with a dirty roof. I've done the HO brother's roof and her sister's roof but they live in my area. Let me know if you want it.
  18. Fun Toy

I bought this at Harbor Freight for 7 dollars. It's a hand-held bug zapper and it's way too much fun.
  19. Honda Filters

I found a pretty good deal on Honda airfilters on Ebay the other day. A 4-pack of airfilters for 33 dollars with free delivery. I run three 13 hp machines and the local shops around here want 30 dollars just for one filter. Just thought I'd share that with the rest of you. The sellers name is partsman888.
  20. Paint on viynl siding

I've found a weak solution of HD80 works well for paint and stain removal.
  21. $212.00 FREE- all you gotta do is Post!!!!

Posting with a picture of my new powerwash rig. Pick me, pick me.
  22. Kroger Stores

Yeah but it was a simple break, just the toggle switch. It isn't a waterproof switch and it's mounted in just the wrong spot, right where you're apt to get liquids splashed on it. The wiring to the switch wasn't very impressive either with exposed butt connectioners for the power supply. I just put a waterproof switch in, routed the wires in a better location, sodered and used heat-shrink tube for the connections. It was an easy fix but it could have been avoided if the right material was used in the first place. I also rerouted the pressure hose and zip tied it because it would get caught up in the wheels each time I moved it. Other than that I love it, it's a great machine.
  23. Kroger Stores

My problem? Well, let's see. I couldn't find the keys to the truck this morning which made me late for the first job. Then the toggle switch on my deck sprayer broke at about 1:30 pm. I think that's it. Why, do you know of a problem that I'm not aware of?
  24. Angry Homeowner

Well, you're going to have those days sometimes. I'm sure there's a few more in the future for all of us, don't let it get to you.
