Pressure Washer Recommendation around $1,500 for a DIY'er
Rick2 replied to RickDel's topic in DIY'ers - Ask The Pro's
The pump will be the weak point if you buy from the big home stores so you'll want to buy a unit with a quality pump ie. Cat, General, etc. Be sure you take care of the pump once you buy a quality machine. Don't let the machine run for 45 seconds or so without pulling the trigger because the water heats up in the bypass very quickly, keep the oil changed with quality non-detergent oil and don't starve the pump for water. Speaking of heat... A belt driven pump will run cooler and will be subject to less viberation than a direct drive but they will cost more up front. You might be better off finding a decent used belt drive for the cost of a new direct drive. If you do a search on this site you'll find a lot more information on this topic. Happy Shopping. -
Our dog Cody ate my wife's Valentine candy while we were at work. He looks so guilty.

Yeah, I know. He's not the brightest dog on the planet. He's okay but I did have to take him outside several extra times that night. He can be a pain in the butt but we love him. Gotta love those little Jack Russells.

Greece, Syria? Anyone? Anyone? I know she was very talented and inspired many people but wish the national media could focus on seroius global issues.

Once again we are shown that nobody is immune from the addiction of these types of drugs. Wealthy, poor or just middle class; these drugs are mostly a one way street. It's a real pity, such a waste of talent.

F13 is what you want to use. If you can't get that try Spray-9 from Home Depot (not sold at Lowes); it not as strong but works pretty well for the homeowner.

I don't know about your area but up here there are zillions of generators on Craigslist. -

Keep in mind that a muffler just doesn't keep things quiet; it also keeps the valves from burning. Think of blowing through a straw and your breath is the HOT gasses the engine needs to get rid of. If the straw is too narrow you can't get rid of those hot gasses quick enough and you will burn the valves. If the straw is too wide (try blowing through a large diameter PVC pipe) the hot gasses cannot escape fast enough and will linger around the pipe too long causing the valves to burn. The bottom line is that the muffler must be matched to the engine to prevent premature valve failure.

I can imagine what an onlooker must have thought. Hey, that guy on the roof isn't going to stop walking. -

Personally I'd try a thick mix of precarb first in a hidden location. -

I have a funny chainsaw story back when I was building my home and needed to cut several tall pines in my extra lot. I couldn't climb the tree while holding the saw so i tied a long rope to it and the other end of the rope to the beltloops to by shorts. (Being an ultra hot day in July I was "commando" style under these shorts). When I got to the top of the tree I started limbing it... one of thelimbs got caught up in the rope yanking the saw out of my hands. Gravity was firing on all eight cylinders that day which caused the saw, the rope, and my shorts to shoot straight down 70 feet to the ground. Except for my boots I had to climb down that tree naked in full view of my new neighbors. It gets worse. When I finally reached the ground I ran to the back door of my house only to find the door locked. The only way in was through the front door which is about 100 feet from a major road with cars stuck in 5 o'clock traffic. -

When I was new to this field and had very little experience I blew a hole through the tip of my left index finger, right through the bottom and out the top. The machine was shut off but I didn't think of the burst pressure still in the line. Wanting to clean the dirt off a chemical tip I thought I'd just let water flow from the gun and rinse off the tip. I held the tip in my left hand and pulled the trigger with my right hand. That was almost 20 years ago but I have never forgotten to release the pressure since then. -
Can it be powerwashed? This site deal with powerwashing and related issues. I bet you could find something on Youtube that would you how to do it right. I can tell you that many years ago I rented an apartment in Ohio and had to have this done due to a small paint stain on the carpet. I hired a local company and they cut a small section from a closet and used that for a patch. It only took them a few minutes and the job looked 100 percent perfect.

Going up "Wilbraham Mountain" loaded with two tanks of chemicals and towing the enclosed trailer full of equipment in a 2009 Super Duty 4X4. I always charge a little extra on the mountain because of gas. -
