  1. Christmas Shopping Tip

I thought Coach was a new fad that hit the market but I guess it's been around for a few years. Like so many other things it gets outsourced to the lowest bidder... China. I remember reading an article a few years back about Japan importing more televisions than it sold at home because their products were being made elsewhere also. If I had to ask for one gift it would be something to get Cody's hair off everything around my home. Just as I was typing this the little dog jumped up on me then quickly jumped off leaving a cloud of little white hairs everywhere. You would think he'd be bald by now by the way he leaves his hair all over the place. Does anyone else have a Jack Russell as a pet?
  2. Christmas Shopping Tip

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's made in China, naturally.

No, I bought her the handbag, she rarely asks for things like that. I wasn't ready for the price of these things, they start at about 275 dollars and go up from there... way up. Other than having the word "Coach" printed of the side it looks the same as any other bag.

  5. I was just making light of the misfoutune of tearing off the front ladder rack from my truck.
  6. I easily lowered the height of my truck by three inches last Monday and it only took a few seconds. Being tired of looking at my dirty truck I decided to run it through the carwash but failed to consider the Trac-Rac ladder racks. Hope this helps.
  7. Introduction

Hello from Massachusetts. Enjoy your stay, lots of great people here and and plenty of information to be learned.
  8. So am I going through that Mid Life thing ....

Personally I think money and toys are way over rated, some of you may think I'm nuts but it's what I believe. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my home, floating around in the boat and taking a rip once in a while in the sports car but my real thrill comes from my family, restoring antique radios and my other job as a special education teacher. It's just my opinion. Here's a picture of a project I'm making for one of my blind students. It's an ultrasonic sensor that lets him know when he's too close to walls when walking so he doesn't walk into them. I made the first one with IR lasers but other lights would interfer with it like crazy. Ultrasound seems to be the most reliable but I'm having a bit of a time writing the source code to burn on an AT chip. Right now it will flash an LED on the board but I will have it in audio and a vibrater (taken from old shaving razors) as feedback. I love making projects for my kids. Opps, lost my train of thought. I still believe money and toys are over rated.
  9. We just left your town of Waterbury 45 minutes ago. I was there about a year ago and I swear all that heavy equipment near Blackies is still in the exact same spot. Naturally we grabbed some burgers and hotdogs while we were there. Nice place but I don't they spend enough on heating the building. ;)

  13. Anyone busy?

I'm going to order one and give it a try, maybe use it for snowplowing this season. By the way Jim, we'll be up in your area next weekend. Our little one keeps asking to go to Koko Keys again.
  14. That's a big step and I wish you the very best. We are lucky to work in a field that we can enjoy... So many times I hear others talk about how they hate going to their job yet they do little or nothing to change it. Several years back my friend Robbie was also a policeman but hated going to work, he always wanted to be a cook. Quit his job and opened a little breakfast place where he is the cook and has been doing quite well. Gotta do what makes you happy. All the best!
  15. Awesome Commercials

The video was taken down, I was looking forward to seeing that. Last year I bought a new Ford Super Duty, it was my first time to buy a Ford. Natrually it got smashed at a job site 2 days after I bought it, the whole side of the bed had to be replaced. The dealer said I shattered their existing record of a new truck purchase and having returned with major accident damage. Anyways, it's been a good truck so far but it's still too new to make any judgements but I have talked to other Ford owners with very high miles and are still happy with the truck. Next year we will be in the market for a new SUV for my wife, she has a 2007 Santa Fe now but the new Ford Edge might be replacing it. Ford has come a long was in quality control over the years.
  16. Anyone busy?

Ohhhh, now I get it. I'm a little slow at times. Sometimes I wish I had started under a different name, something shorter, because customers often get tripped up saying it... even writing it on the checks. Half the time it simply ends up as Pro-Powerwash written on the checks. Once amny many moons ago I ran a lawn leaf removal business for the fall season called "We Suck" because the truck would suck all the leaves up. I only lasted a season because I didn't relize how much of a PIA that job was. After I made enough to pay off the equipment and put a few coins in my pocket We Suck closed the doors forever. Most (but not all) of the customers got a good laugh out of that name. Speaking of checks... I bought my wife a Iphone 4S a few days ago which means I now have her old Iphone 4. Does anyone use this "Square" creditcard reader that plugs into the phone? I know the charge about 2.5 percent of the transaction but that's about all I know. Thanks in advance.
  17. Anyone busy?

I kinda like it as a nickname but the real name is Eric. Mr. Eric to you. ;)
  18. Anyone busy?

I'm shut down and the phone recording states " Thanks for calling Pro Power. We are closed for the season, bla bla bla." but people are still leaving messages to see if I can do small jobs. I just set them up for the start of April, my 19th year in business. I never thought I'd be doing it this long.
  19. In June we were visited by two tornados, huge damage. September we had a hurricane, more damage. Saturday night came an early unexpected snow/ice storm, 12 inches of snow with downed trees and powerlines everywhere. We haven't had power since Saturday and do not expect it back until next Saturday. The lines at the gas stations are backed a quarter mile or so; unbelievable. Except for fire and police the city is shut down for at least a week. I'm lucky to have a big generator I use to power lights while powerwashing Burger Kings after closing hours and plenty of gasoline, it keeps the house lighted, freezers cold and the HAM radios charged. Also runs the dishwasher, clothes washer/dryer, etc. The gas fireplace is keeping my home warm and gas hot water for nice showers. I ran power to the internet router and the net came on. Couldn't believe it. Life in New England; unhooking my powerwash trailer to mount the snowplow. I'll be back to finish the powerwash season later this week.
  20. Our city has been hit... AGAIN

Power is back but I kinda enjoyed living with the basics. I loved not hearing that stupid TV running 24/7 in most rooms of the house; I'm going to hate it when things get back to normal.
  21. An awful needless accident.

I lost a good friend and neighbor this afternoon. I was working in the garage when my wife called out to me and told me that our neighbor's little SUV was in the street backed up to our fence. I walked over to see the rear wheels against the curb and the motor off. I walked over to the passanger side to see my neighbor twisted under car at an impossible angle with her head crushed between the curb and rear tire. Awful, just awful. It happened because she parked the car in the garage but didn't put it in gear (or it slipped out of gear - standard transmission), walked down to get the mail while the car started rolling backwards. I guess she tried to stop the car but was dragged under it and crushed. I'll miss you Jackie, you were a great neighbor and even better friend to us. 36 years old it too young.
