Yellow pages and flyers. I always keep 3 different flyers in my truck and car. If I see a dirty house, I leave a flyer. A dirty wood fence, I leave a flyer. A moldy roof, you guessed it.
It takes a while to build up a good base. Do good work and the customers will do the advertising for you by telling their friends about you.

PS. Don't give up.

The guy that lives across the street from me has the same problem. It's been there for over a year. I don't think it really bothers him.

I don't know what the difference is with RV antifreeze but I'm told there is a difference. I even lost a pump one winter. I run three different pumps (Cat General, and Comet). At least one of these advise RV, not automotive for the winter.

John's right, oxidized aluminum. I see it quite a bit here in New England.

I get the request often. I personally don't have a problem doing a small job. Most people have a minimum price they charge. Think about it for a second, where else can you work for 20 minutes and make a hundred dollars. Almost a full tank of gas in the truck.

Always had it but never used it. Hope it stays that way. It looks much more professional when the customer asks if you have insurance and you pull out a copy of you policy from your briefcase.

I'd say about 75 percent of my customers say "while you're up there please take out those damn leaf screens."

I just got a call from someone that wants their brick building washed. Not beacuse it's very dirty but because of of too many spider webs. She said one side is covered with spider webs. Sounds a little Steven Kingish to me.
Anyways, does anyone know of a chemical that may dissolve these webs? I haven't looked at the building yet, I'll go tomorrow afternoon. Any ideas out there?
Thanks

Opps, my fault. I just got done stripping my own ceder stained house. I must have inhaled to much HD 80.

Yup, that's where Steubenville is.
Residental plowing is the worst, absolute worst. Tey want the drives plowed early morning so they can get out for work, then the city plows the end ot the drives in again so you have to do your route twice. Cars block the dirveways, clear sidewalks, etc. I cant think of a worse job. The only driveway I plow is my own. If I happen to make eye contact with my neighbors while they are using a shovel I have to do theirs too.
Commercial lots are much easier, mostly sitting in the truck listining to Jimmy Buffet drinking hot coffee.
I use a newer 3/4 ton Silverado. It's a great truck for plowing and towing our boat. Oh, tows the powerwash trailer too. (I guess that's what I bought it for.) Last truck was a half ton but that was too small.

HD 80 work great.

Pittsburgh area? I've got the same climate in Massachusetts. We plow snow in the winter. Honstly I hate the job but the money is HUGE.
I used to live near you. Ever hear of Steubenville, Ohio?

100 dollars?! Oh please, I won't get out of bed for a hundred dollars.

HD-80 works pretty well.

Don't rely on premixed chemicals, you'll find the main ingredient is water.
Whenever possible buy a powder or liquid that you have to mix with water. It will save you quite a bit of money.

For a shield I just use a large piece of 1/16" thick plastic. It used to be part of the shower stall in my upstair's bathroom before I remolded it.
To remove the stain from the fence (oil or water) use HD-80 and citric acid, it will look better than new and it's soooo easy. A little more advice... 1) Use very low pressure to wash off the HD-80 or else the wood will fuzz. 2) When mixing the HD-80 in your chemical pump sprayer always put in the water first then add the powered HD-80. If you put in the HD-80 first it will clog the inlet tube of the sprayer and harden like concrete. If this does happen to you just cut off the bad section and replace it with a piece of vacuum hose from Auto Zone.

I've never been able to get these stains off. Tell the HO to read the driections on the spray nest time. Some will say "Will not stain siding"

I don't often measure a house, I just figure out how much time it'll take me. After 15 years of doing this job I can take a pretty accurate measurement.
I would have bid about 350 for that house.

I just did a job like this yesterday. A roofing company replaced a roof on a house and had the dumpster on the concrete driveway. The dumpster had a hole in it and leaked the black tar onto the concrete. I used HD 80 on it with a surface cleaner to remove the tar and other nasties then used a citric acid to brighten the area. Came out beautiful, everyone was happy.

I bought mine at a store called Tractor Supply Company (TSC). I'm out here in New England so I don't know if you have these stores. Price was very good and you dont have to pay shipping which can cost hundreds of dollars.

Oh Yeah, we snowplow. Gotta pay the bills in the winter. I really hate the job but the money is great. A good storm is worth 1400 or more a night.

Hmmm, the best tool? You can use ym scuba gear if you need to.
