  1. Sodium Precarb

Rick, My distributor is ACR Products, Tom and Barbara Vogel. Their banner ad is prominent on TGS. The price I quoted is from memory and does not include shipping. As I'm up at their facility 4 or 5 times a year, I usually pick up chems from them in bulk.
  2. Sodium Precarb

Rick, We buy a sodium percarb based cleaner from our distributor. It comes in 10 lb. tubs and is formulated for wood in that it also contains surfactants and a bit of soap. As I recall, the price is ~ $20/tub. That is less than half the price per pound as the link is offering.
  3. Adrian, Thats it. Cleaner Times did an article a few years back on Exotic Woods with Jim Foley and I featured. The "get your lawyer" statement was a wisecrack, just kidding around. Vanna White reportedly said, "Any press is good press", though I think she stole that line from Eric Heiden. Regardless, it is somewhat true. Maybe I'll get some referrals from some high end painters!
  4. Adrian, I never spoke or submitted anything to this publication. What did they do, plagiarize from a Cleaner Times article a few years back? Or pull thread posts from The Grime Scene? Beth & Rod, call your lawyer!
  5. defelt

Adrian, Save some of the worn 3M pads. They can be terrific for hand sanding "sculpted" and WRC spindles. Actually faster and easier than using the Makita, and much more efficient than using sandpaper or sanding blocks/pads.
  6. defelt

Adrian, AFAIK, that is what the Makita 9227C was designed for, auto body work. The 3M pads have a hole in the middle that go through the threaded arbor on the buffer.
  7. defelt

Joe, We use a Makita 9227C with black 3M pads for wood. These pads can be purchased from ACR Products or online from: DeckGuide Pro Center © 2009 - G&K Distributors
  8. Jon, Good suggestion. I just looked at that picture and realize I have one ugly physique. Sometimes I forget that I'm 57 yrs. old! Beth, Trust me, my feet would sicken a seasoned podiatrist. Finding a willing pedicurist would be next to impossible.
  9. Beth, Ready Seal light brown would be close to the tanning. Good suggestion. As far as a pedicure, I don't think so!
  10. Terminal case of athlete's foot ... Lord, even the hair on my big toes is white. Time marches on...
  11. Rick2, You are one sick puppy. Hah!
  12. Pricing a kids wooden swingset

Charlie is dead on in pricing, but only in conjunction with a deck job. Hate the things and we ALWAYS charge, no matter how large the deck. They are a laborious PITA.
  13. 3.6 quake rattles mid-Atlantic

Hey Beth & Rod, The location of yesterday's earthquake is in your neighborhood. Did you feel this thing? Earthquake rattles Maryland and Washington, D.C. - latimes.com
  14. Any of you wood guys and gals have a working hat? Just took mine off after a hot, hard day and took a good look. This chapeau is getting a bit foul and may be ready for retirement. Post up a picture of yours. Let's see who really gets dirty in the wood restoration business!
  15. Working hat

Rick, You really need to drink more beer!
  16. 3.6 quake rattles mid-Atlantic

Beth, I graduated with a degree in geology 35 yrs. ago. Remember in one class, we were informed that humans experiencing a significant earthquake become quickly disoriented. There is something very spooky about the "solid" earth moving under your feet.
  17. Working hat

Rick, Looks like you have been spraying a lot of bleach... Like the Modelo one, it looks like how that beer tastes!
  18. Deck Help!

Ron, I think you will be OK to stain with a solid, particularly if it is a water based product, ie: latex/acrylic.
  19. Daniel, The stain used on the above job was labeled "Woodrich wiping stain for hardwoods" or something like that. It acted like a 100% curing or linseed oil formula and was virtually identical to the "Woodtux" of two years ago. In fact we used some old WoodTux leftover from the same job 2 years ago on most of the vertical mahogany. The WoodRich was a clone in both color and nature. I think Russell may have just changed the name. The stain will lap or shine if overapplied. Not hard to use, considering we primarily apply Ready Seal.
  20. Let's see who can identify these claw marks....

Rick2, I have a brother in law that lives in Juneau, Alaska. He told me years ago that "fall" bear are actually edible, though not real tasty. They need to fatten up over the summer, as hibernation uses up fat. I personally have never had the opportunity to chew on bear meat. He also said that whale blubber is one of the foulest things he has ever tried to eat. Only some indigenous Alaskans can actually chew and swallow the stuff.
  21. People you meet

Met the former disgraced President, Richard Nixon, at a NJ State gov't function many years ago. He was a bit of a dud and unimpressive. Abbie Hoffman showed up at a birthday party we were having for my wife at a friends house. He was moderately drunk and thoroughly stoned.
  22. Let's see who can identify these claw marks....

Black bear have made a huge comeback here in the State of NJ. We even have a bear hunting season, though short and restrictive. It has been estimated that our bear population is between 2000 - 3000 individuals.
  23. Let's see who can identify these claw marks....

Beth, Might it be a black bear? The names of the picture files give a pretty strong hint!
  24. Maintenance finished. The old WoodZotic color is very attractive on red mahogany.
  25. Daniel, Because I cannot replicate this color with RS. It is what the customer wanted and I obliged. They like it and want a repeat. Plus, I like to take a walk on the wild side, just to keep this business interesting. BTW, this "new" WoodRich actually dries without that silly Japan additive.
