Need Help bidding and doing cedar fences.
krpalex replied to krpalex's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I have a Deckster but I just use it for spraying HD-80 and Citralic, I am afraid of all the overspray, and it is part of my sales pitch telling the customer that we do all our decks by hand I get a lot of jobs because of that, but I know I wont be able to do a fence by hand. How do you avoid overspray. -
Need Help bidding and doing cedar fences.
krpalex posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I have yet to get a fence job, this is my fourth year in the biz and I think I am bidding to high. I measure the length X 2 (both sides) X 4 (4 feet tall) so 200 linear feet would cost $1600, is that to much. I also never spray stain and the neighbors house is about 10ft. away from one side of a fence that I gave a bid on, what is the best process on this. I use Ready Seal Religiously. P.S. I am posting here because I know you all know what you are doing as I have based my biz around what I have learned here. You guys are all awesome. -
Anybody ever have any customers calling a week after sealing with ready seal natural cedar saying they are tracking an oily residue in their home, I just need to know what to tell them, I have noticed this on several decks this year but this is the first one to mention it, they are very happy otherwise. Thank You in advance.

I ordered some HD-80 and Citralic from esproducts and have not gotten my order yet, I just wondered if anything happened to Russell, I haven't gotten any return phone calls, Russell give me a call if you see this 314-602-4203. By the way these are 2 awesome products. Ralph Patterson with DECK-BRITE.

Try using fast orange hand cleaner, it removes some stains from vinyl siding.

This is actually my first year in biz and it is going pretty well, actually I am thinking of hiring somebody to help me out, I am curious, I have about twelve jobs on the books right now and want to know if I will stay this busy through the entire season if I keep up my advertising practices, flyers and the local journal. Thanks to all responses.

krpalex replied to krpalex's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I am using it through an x-jet. -
I bought some powerhouse housewash and want to know what ratio I should mix with water and will it effectively take mold off of vinyl siding.

need help to bid a fence
krpalex posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I need help on bidding this fence and deck, the fence is 345 linear ft. x 4ft. tall, both sides, I explained to the customer that my process was to strip/brighten/seal and he said all he wants is the most efficient way to do it and I told him if I do a half way job then the results will be half way. So it is about 2760 sq.ft. The deck is a 10 x 10 and has 13 steps and one decking board needs to be replaced. It has been quite a while since anything has been done to it. -
Cedar deck with aluminum Spindles
krpalex posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I just got a call from a home owner that has a 25 x 12 cedar deck with 15 6 x 6 posts and about 150 metal (aluminum) spindles. My question is should I mask the spindles when stripping with HD-80 and brightening with Citralic, I will be brushing and rolling with Ready Seal as I have 30 gallons on the way to my doorstep. What would be the most efficient way to tackle this job. I am thinking of bidding the job at $890.00 that is to wash/strip/brighten,sand hand rails/seal by brush and rollers. -
HD-80 and lots of Fuzzies
krpalex replied to krpalex's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Actually, I went back today to finish up the power washing and it didn't look nearly as bad, I think all I will have to do is sand the hand rails, I think it was a latex stain but I am not sure, it was flaking in some areas. -
HD-80 and lots of Fuzzies
krpalex posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I just did my first deck this year, it had some old failing stain on it that looked like those old red picnic tables back in the 70's and 80's, the guy was thinking about building a new deck but called me first. I stripped it with Hd-80 and Used Citralic, I beleive I am going to have to sand it before I stain it. Any Opinions on how to prevent this from happenin g in the near future as I am a newbie. -
What color ready seal most resembles the look of twp 100 series cedar tone?
