Hey Jon, I meant that the owner is running the office and doing the marketing while his crew(s) are out their doing the labor.

Ken, Great read and certainly ontime for the upcoming season. The only thing that I would add ~ I think Ron touched on ~ it is extremely important to not only stay consistent with your work but also stay consistent with your pricing. Always keep a mind set of how you can promote your business further. Ken was not kidding about crews out there taking their sales of 500K. There are even some out there that did a million in '05. Ken...great job.

I am in agreement with Ken...it takes more to admit ones mistakes.

We are scheduled and are planning to attend. I am wondering if someone can answer if they know how many members have registered thus far? Thanks

I like it Alan...good humor!!

Ron, I would like to do and hear the same...all orgs sitting around and mapping a strategy for the industry. Interesting thoughts John T....so if an org reached out to the PWNA to see if it could explore a strategy together, the PWNA would likely embrace that?

Never had a reason to visit other boards. Found all that I needed on the TGS.

Good one Steve and Mik... How about ~ "You can't think your way into good living .... buy you can live your way into good thinking"

Interesting! It is also a good way to build a email/snail mail mailing list

Looking good Roger...nice work. When you hit it with the Wood Tux Wet...upsale the customer to wash her shingles also.. -
I agree with Rod. Our customers find it refreshing that when they get someone on the phone from our office it is someone that has accurate answers to give or can readily get someone on the phone that will have the answer. Not to say that hiring an answering services is a bad thing. It is very important that the first contact a potential and/or existing customers has with your company is a pleasant experience. If you do decide to have 'other' people answer your phones please be sure to inform them and/or educate them as much as possible about your operation. Stress the importance of sounding intelligent on the phone when dealing with customers!! Just my .02

Lance, Certainly the risk paid off and I want to congratulate you for staying the course and hanging in there. It's tough for any business to keep things on a positive note when the bank account balance is in the triple digits.

Diversification versus Specialization?
newlook replied to Jeff Robison's question in Residential Pressure Washing
We are going into our 6th year in the business. We started out with one person ~ me. Cold water rig, borrowed ladders and an attitude that we were not going to give up!! Our gross sales the first year was terrible. Over the years we have added a few things to our services to help round us out. Services such as concrete design, landscaping design, painting, landscaping maintenance and of course residential/commerical power washing. Our company's success is reflective on the strong and talented individuals associated with us and that our fundamental business model is disciplined, straightforward and focused on generating value while managing risks. Today as in our 1st day in business, we are looking for ways to improve our image, our service and our workmanship. Customer service is key to any business endeavor and the majority of your marketing energy should be customer service driven. If you diversify your service, please be sure you can deliver top notch service on everything you provided. -

We offer a Power Wash Standard Package and a Power Wash Deluxe Package. Difference between the two is in the deluxe package we hit the gutters/downspouts and do all flat work (sidewalks, driveways and etc) Price difference between the two runs around $200.00 -
Diversification versus Specialization?

All righty....a hundred bucks it is from New Look Partnerships.

Beth, Did the pledges hit a $100.00 yet?

Our company provided a 2 phase power wash package to over 50 homes that had experienced a considerable amount of dust from a nearby construction site. The 2 phase package consisted of an immediate rinse down (nothing fancy ~ splash and dash) while construction was still going on and a final detailed power wash service after construction was completely finished. The enclosed letter is what was sent out to all the homes explaining #1 why we were doing this and #2 we offered several helpful hints to curtail the dust problem. Needless to say the angle that we took ~ the enclosed letter ~ was very successful. We landed pretty much the entire subdivision. If anyone can use the contents and the spirit of the enclosed letter, please feel free to do so.

2 Phase Power Wash ~ Sub Divisions
newlook replied to newlook's question in Residential Pressure Washing
This approach can also work with removing soot from fire and/or wildland fires. We were in S. Calif. a few years back when the big fires hit. We power washed for several days down there. We donated our time on that one but received some press coverage. -
Hey John, I think Beth received some pledges already but I am not sure what the amounts are. As long as the TGS receives a total of $100.00 from others, then we will add a $100.00. Hey...have you pledged anything yet? LOL
