  1. House Washing Techniques

Rod, That is a pretty good idea. In a way one could look at that as a comprehensive quality assurance program that you are offering along with power washing services. If you market this correctly it could generate additional business for you. We have a quality assurance program for our concrete services and it is a great selling point. We have been awarded so many jobs just because of the Q & A and that other companies do not offer any assurance to the customer.
  2. House Washing Techniques

Our biggest problem out here is old stucco and/or thin layers of it on pillars and etc. Even with low pressure we have to be very careful with the angle that we hit the surface with. If we hit it at a 45 degree angle we run a good chance of the water getting underneath the crack and lifting a chunk of it up. Quick question to all...when washing and something accidentally happens like stucco blows off or 2 feet of that foam stuff Tony was talking about and you fix it ~ do you tell the customer what happened? For us, we do tell customers about things like this.
  3. Spending the money

Craig...lol. Our weather is perfect...folks are starting to wear shorts and the days are getting longer. The skiing in lake tahoe is just fabulous...lot's of powder with plenty of sunshine. Folks are mowing yards and washing cars on weekends...I even saw the local ice cream man canvassing neighborhoods the other day...:) You folks back east...hang in there...good weather is just around the corner.
  4. Gloves??

Good question Joshua. I for one don't use gloves but I am sure that alot of our collegues on the east coast do due to the cold weather..
  5. I think certainly with just a water application ~ CarlolinaProWash will do an outstanding job and take very good care of their customer. I don't think "Splash and Dash" or "Blow and Go" is in their vocabulary.
  6. Are you or your business a member of the PWNA?
  7. Celeste, Sure...hit me on my mobile 707.812.3702 or call the office and I will get back to you later in the day. Either way lets touch base.
  8. Hi Celeste, We have our contract worded that if the seller decides to not sale after the work is done then we still charge them .... that is if the contract is with the seller. The majority of our contracts under the REEP Program are with real estate agents. If that is the case, then we take the loss. Again, REEP can be marketed to either the seller themselves or to a real estate agent. Is the redwood house a spinoff of what I emailed you?
  9. P/W falls 11 stories

There is no such thing as an overkill when it comes to safety.
  10. House wash and windows / roofs

Our wash is also gutters and then down. Had a customer about 2 summers ago that wanted me to tape up all her windows with plastic because she did not want any water getting on them. After explaining to her how that sounded she insisted that if I wanted the job this is what I had to do. Well, needless to say...as we were backing out of her driveway I wondered what she does when it actually rains and water gets on her windows...:). I have read many times on the Grime where we say "sometimes you just need to walk away from a job" ~ well this was one of them :)
  11. Did you have experience

Barry, No experience but spent about some time researching the industry before I dived in.
  12. Indoor concrete sealing

Cool...early on in this thread you predicted it would take about 8 hours to complete...your estimate was right on. You have a janitorial business also ... correct?
  13. Indoor concrete sealing

It looks great Ryan...how long did it take you?
  14. sky clean... If you still need help with this, please provide additional information such as the size of vehicles and etc...
  15. Indoor concrete sealing

All right....good luck. Interested to see a pic of this when you are done.
  16. Indoor concrete sealing

Hey Ryan...quick question. When you say it is going to take 8 coats of the stuff...what are you trying to accomplish with 8 coats? How long are you allowing for drying in between coats? The shurflow and mop should work well. I suggest bringing a bag of rags also...in the even you get "puddles" in some areas. We blot the rag on in those areas to soak up any excessive puddles.
  17. Need Some Help?

hey Russ...great job on the thread...solid answers all the way around!
  18. Reed, Send a galloon of the stuff to Rod and see if there is a difference. I would not think the climate would have that much of an affect on the # of coats being applied. Just a suggestion
  19. You guys gonna call me crazy!!

Any of the spanish tiles break while you were on the job?
  20. Soda? or not to Soda?

dk34 - Lancaster, PA... I grew up in Somerset County...not too far from Lancaster...
  21. A poll for lurkers...

I am a firm believer that anyone can contribute knowledge of this industry...no matter how long you have been doing it. You can be a newbie or someone that has been around the block a few times. When a newbie post a suggestion...I take it as serious advice. When a veteran post a suggestion...I also take it as serious advice.
  22. Soda? or not to Soda?

never tried it nor heard of anyone that did. Is Problaster America a franchise?
  23. Estimates - how do you handle them?

Mine are free and always will be free. I even go as far as doing a free demo of our services if I really feel that will sway the customer to hire our company.
  24. Flu Shots

At least 6 or 7 years ago is when I had any shots....I guess this is my cue to schedule a physical
  25. Competition: what gives?
