Howard/Henry ~ I was on the USS Reeves (CG-24) out of Yokuska with the 7th Fleet. After that I picked up an oiler out of Oakland and headed for my 3rd west pac.
-
Rod ~ you speculate very well :). You are correct about the format and they should have something for JD to follow.
-
Yea :) don't seem to be a whole lot of traffic on the other site. Keep the thread here if you want results :)

Howard, Ex Navy here also...served with the Midway Battle Group in Yokosuka.

My thoughts exactly Beth. Our season has started already and I am usually out the door by 7 and not getting back at least till after 6. Ever since this weather turned nice out here it has generated a frenzy of "can you come clean my house" calls :) ~ I am not complaining though. My point is that we are focusing our efforts on our business. I gave the PWNA several shot's to impress us out here to want to join. As mentioned in other threads, every time we were ready to send them a check, something would happen on the BBS that would taste like sour grapes to us. I will be watching to see how they manage the latest rounds of changes and if any "make sense announcements" are forthcoming.

What's you vehicle of choice...and why?
newlook replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Ford and Chevy all the way. Since our company does other things i.e. concrete and landscaping design...we have a several vehicles that belong to our fleet. 3 pickups and a van. Just bought a GMC Sierra 2500 .. so that makes 4 actually. -
Interesting topic. I for one do a walk around the structure and look for things that ultimately could be a topic for discussion after I am done powerwashing i.e. cracked stucco or missing stucco, conditionof paint, condition of tiles and etc. I will mention these things in my contract so that customer is aware of this before I squirt water. We also put in our contract the following: Please ensure that ALL windows are closed during power wash evolution. I would suggest placing old towels on all window seals during the power wash evolution. Water can and sometimes will seep through the windows.

I have not been on the PWNA site in days...well....ever since they limited access to non-members. Scott, you are right ~ things have been very quite lately vs. when this "hit the fan" earlier in the week. Interesting.

We shall see what happens.

When I get home later today. I will go on the site and do a "shake down" cruise. Maybe we will have the answer sooner...never the less....the wheels seem to be in motion.

Two tone or NOT two tone....
newlook replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Could anybody post a pic of a 2 toner for me or email me one...I would like to see what it looks like. Thanks newlookpowerwash@aol.com -
I think I understand what the PWNA is trying to do but I believe that this decision did not even make it to an ad hoc committee, which is unfortunate and probably in violation of their by-laws. I am just guessing. This is a perfect case why the "lame duck" policy should apply. The outgoing board members hands are cleaned of this mess and the incoming members are stepping into a hornets nests. When Pete announced this I think it would have been more informative if he gave us specifics as to when this was going to happen, what access we would have and etc. Leaving the thread open for us to figure out or assume what may or may not happen next is why the thread took the direction it did. Someone mentioned that "now finally the bod's are communicating a decision they made and they are still getting attacked ~ they can never win." Yea they communicated this but it does not make their decision right and just because they communicated this does not make everyone inclined to agree with it. Jon..to answer your question...I think it was a very bad business decision to do this.
-
The whole idea here is to be able to communicate with your customer at the earliest convient possible time. Whether it is in the field, the office, the bus station, police station wherever....:). If you can accomplish that then you are on the right track.

You got it Duncan :) Henry..if you want a copy...give me a call so we can discuss the reasons why :)

Sprayer for using ready seal stain
newlook replied to mmpjr7's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Rod, You are corrert about the air bubbles and when the stain dries it can show. The redwood that we use is a "rough cut" and the surface is more prone to hide the airbubbles vs. a smooth surface. Rollers can be very messy and understand why some don't even like to go there. We have a pretty good routine going for us and we are extra careful when and where we spray and roll. I mentioned this in another thread but all we use is behr premimum cedartone or redwood stain. I am open for suggestions on a better stain if you or anyone has one. Thanks Rod. -
Sprayer for using ready seal stain
newlook replied to mmpjr7's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Thanks Andy....the pressure has never been a problem. We just want to make sure that the procedure we use is okay. I turn the pressure on the airless down as low as it will go... Good stuff everybody..:) -
